  • Nice.

    Most places carrying for $1600-$1700.

The extra value of the BD-R, TV Tuner and 500GB external drive are worth it over similar offerings like the (DV6-2120TX for $1098 from Officeworks](http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Com…).

    • its not a bd-r is it?

      • Oops, well spotted. BD-ROM.

Why do they insist upon such crappy resolutions in large screens?

    • +2

I agree, should be better. It's not too bad though from experience though.

  • Any chance of a deal on a 17" version with Core i7

  • Shame about the PM55 instead of HM55 as well

    • Doesn't really make a significant difference when there's dedicated graphics, does it?

  • Woo… sounds like a good deal to me!

i cant confirm this but one of my friends was looking at this at HN and they were doing the same price. i believe u can haggle for cheaper. nothing amazing, but i believe theres still some margin on it. worth it to shop around i believe. but i told him that to save hassle, this price is more than satisfactory. 1 year ago, an i5 equivalent wudve been a core 2 duo centrino 2 but P8xxx or 9xxx series as opposed to T9xxx. they wud be MINIMUM $1500, with RRP higher. this is a bargain, but im just saying that after a few months when new models come down, ur gunna feel like u shudve waited.

u can keep waiting for a whole life. the prices of all the electrical appliances keep dropping with new products released. as long as u figure the price is good enough, just buy it. there is no point to regret.

      • so true. I usually buy a computer 6-12 months after a new Windows OS has come out. Giving time for Intel to bring out their new processors and ensuring major bugs and compatibility issues are ironed out.

    • Seems like a good deal. I did a quick google of the the part number and harvery norman have it for $1699 on there web-site. http://www.harveynorman.com.au/product/1256966957449/hp-pavi…

  • HP scored the lowest of all on a recent laptop reliability test that measured number of returns after 3 years. See http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/computers/apple-laptops-f…

These specs are pretty good though…

Also, remember that the end of financial year is coming, so you might see some better bargains in 2-3 weeks.

Yep, my HP died for seemingly no reason.

I have vowed to never buy another HP again.

      • I feel ya mate… Had a horrendous experience with HP, will never buy again.

        • Unlucky. I have an HP dv something. Still going strong after 3 years.

    blu-ray drive and it only does 1366 x 768 LOL =/

    • I agree pairing it with a blu-ray ROM is kind of pointless especially at that screen res, I guess it may be handy to have though if you've got a blu-ray collection?!

1366x768 is the sweet spot for my 13.3", but too low for a 15.6 inch model. Just for reference, I had a full hi-def multimedia laptop, at the hi-res it was painful to use for browsing and anything where you didn't need the extra screen space.

BD-ROM is still handy 'cause of the HDMI output.

  • One more whinge about this model, i wouldn't get it as an impulse buy…check it out in person at a dicksmiths, harveys etc. I liked the look of these on the net, then I saw one in person and it looked pretty tacky.

The newer models of these are lot nicer.

  • great deal. I bought a DV6-2120TX from officeworks - this has some very compelling extra features for only a small increase in outlay.
