  • free food?

    • No.

    • went last year, it's basically like a hipster convention for kids.. all these "funky" outfits for kids, and "hand made toys" and all this other stuff. Also, i remember the ATM at the venue last year charged you something like $5 to use

  • Any decent freebies? Or any freebies at all?

    • +1

Last year there was a decidedly underwhelming 'free' (provided you had a free entry ticket) show-bag, that contained quite a few chocolates/lollies (but nothing healthy), a couple of nappy-wipe/laundry soak samples, and a "hello fresh" discount voucher. Along with about 1 KG of advertising material.

  • I went last year with my young son and I was profoundly disappointed, mainly because there was actually very little for children to do there. They had a very small petting zoo, and a somewhat random 'pit' of Fisher-Price toys that the kids could play with. That was about it. No crafty activities, no educational activities, no organised activities for kids of any kind in fact, no continuous performers of any kind, and nothing much interesting for them to see. They could easily have had some free face-painting, a 'balloon twisting' guy/gal, a roaming clown/juggler/unicyclist or two, a couple of 'dressed up' characters, or any number of things like that, at very minimal cost. But they didn't. And there was of course the usual hideously over-priced food you expect at such events. It is in fact a fair for adults, that is about kids. The organisers clearly have one sole objective in mind, and that is to make money.

The one good thing about it was the 'free' (because I did not pay for a ticket) show-bag, which contained quite a few chocolates/lollies (but no healthy snacks of any description, LOL). If I had paid anything to get in though, I would have been sorely disappointed.

    • They must have had the same feedback last year and improved on this year. No show bag though…

  • Hi megamilinda, do you know what the three times are that 'Ben & Holly' will be appearing on the kid's stage?

    • Sorry only just saw your comment, we saw the 12pm, there was a couple in the morning and a 1pm.

  • Hey all,

We ended up going on Sunday, and there was a jumping castle, play area, craft area, play-do area, make your own necklaces, petting zoo and the kids show with Ben & Holly. More for the younger kids, would go again next year.

    • Yes agreed, I dropped in with my boy as well, mainly to pick up the free show-bag, but I was pleasantly surprised that there has been a major change and this year there was actually a lot of stuff for the kids to do (see mega's list above, and there were also a few more sort of random little craft-type stations as well, and free face-painting).
No show-bag this year, but that is not important. It was nice to see all the little kids busily doing active/creative things and having fun. I too would go next year.
