I found a similar product when checking deals of Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S at Amazon, Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 700.

The price is amazing cause it has around 43% ($361) off.

The cheapest price I can find online (AU stock) is around AU$1000. It's worth to have try for this surface similar win tablet.

  • are Lenovo warranties international? or will amazon cover it/provide return shipping?

    • +1

      Good point, I just checked.

      Simple answer, yes.

The IWS service is NOT supported for new idea products announced and sold after February 28th, 2016, except for certain models only (ideapad Yoga 900 laptops and Lenovo Miix 700 tablets).

    • I want to point out that I highly doubt Lenovo will honour IWS for this.

IWS appears to be for people who purchase the tablet overseas (ie. US shipping address on proof of purchase) then travel to to Australia later.

I say this as, because the terms (https://support.lenovo.com/au/en/documents/ht074528) explicitly say you must provide "proof of Travel e.g. Passport" that YOU travelled with the device from overseas, ie. it was not delivered from overseas directly from the seller.

  • Wasn't the M5/8GM/256SSD version on sale at Amazon a few days ago for $900AUD delivered? I can't find the link now to compare …

Shipping is 9-12 business days with standard post … but just not sure if m5/4/128 is the best combo … was comparing to a Spectre X2 m7/8/512 when HN had them for around $1100 after cashback

    Order Summary
    Items: AUD 668.06
    Shipping & handling: AUD 24.46
    Order total: AUD 692.52

EDIT: found it … and it doesn't ship to AUS

    • EDIT: found it … and it doesn't ship to AUS

Yes it does if you select Amazon as the seller….

      Price and shipping: US$796.22

      • That -just- takes it over the AUD $1k so there will be $145 tax and duty fee applied by Amazon on top of the price ….

I ended up getting this one (m7/8GB/256 SSD) for USD 664.99 (AUD 911) together with a USA freight forwarder for US$36 shipping
        https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Miix700-12ISK-80QL000BUS-Dual-…

Another 8GB alternative under the $1k import limit is on ebay - the M5/8GB/128 model (with W10 Pro) for USD 699.97 + USD 58.40 shipping
        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Brand-New-Sealed-Lenovo-Miix-700-…

        • also note that the M7 8GB RAM model does not appear to come with the stylus, and has Windows 10 Home, unlike the cheaper model from Amazon which comes with the stylus and Windows 10 Pro.

Which freight forwarder did you use?

        • @Maverick-au: I use comgateway. I ended up changing my order for the 80QL000CUS model which I think has the stylus and Windows 10 Pro, for US$697.60

Also, I dont like stacking US to AU adapters so thinking of getting a power adapter with an AU plug from ebay for $29 or Lenovo genuine for $89

Thanks! That's the one I just ordered, it's only $150 more than the current price of the 4GB/128GB so worth the extra. USD $697 is close to the limit when you factor in shipping so I choose the second seller, selected GIFT so no invoice is sent and I'll fill put the customs declaration before sending.

I'll see when it gets here but using one of the decent quality travel adapters should be ok

        • @pete2: hi, got any link showing this model comes with the active stylus?

        • @djprima:
The questions asked here indicate that it does, but I do not know for certain.

edit: I see on other comments some did not get the stylus, so now I am unsure, it seems a bit random.

        • +1

          @pete2:

My 80QL000CUS came with the stylus (without it being listed in box contents) & Win 10 Pro

        • @Wally: thanks

        • @pete2:

Did yours arrive? Mine arrived today but the contents were 80QL000BUS which has Windows 10 Home and no stylus (and Amazon have been out of stock for the last four days!!!!). I'm talking to the seller at the moment and may hit them up for USD$150 to compensate (USD$100 for Windows upgrade and USD$50 for the pen).

        • @Maverick-au:

The 80QL000CUS model sounds like the better one - Amazon should make it right for you, they stock the pen and I am sure you can upgrade direct with MS (or with that key deal that was on earlier) if you need.

I had some issues here in determining if it was going to be suitable, so I ended up cancelling it before they shipped it, sorry. So I now have amazon credit burning a hole in my pocket again…

After having to escalate the issue I ended up with a USD $140 refund so ended up paying USD $557 for the M7/8GB/256GB. The pen arrived back in stock so cost me USD $34 + delivery. Windows I may upgrade using one of the cheap key deals.

        • @Maverick-au:
Looks like you got the best deal - USD 557 after refund.
How are you finding the machine?

        • @pete2:

How are you finding the machine?

It's quite nice so far, keyboard is not as nice as my Carbon X1 but is nicer than many notebook keyboards I've used. I could use it for reasonably long times if I had to but I do miss the trackpoint nipple however the touchpad is pretty responsive (I never use this on the X1).

Performance is really good, I was surprised at how responsive it is even when running a few apps at the same time. The build is really good, the colour is nice etc.

The screen is great, hard to compare to the X1 carbon as it has a matte finish whereas the Miix 700 has a gloss. Haven't run into any problems so far with glare in use around the house.

I wish it had USB Type C for charging as I want my notebook and tablet to have this for travelling so I don't need to carry extra adapters but I'm sure the next release will and given the price I would probably upgrade to that not the surface pro 5.

I'm waiting for the pen to arrive, the glass screen protector and the clear matt finish body skin to protect the gold surface so will really start to use it after that.

I'll sell my ThinkPad 8 but I think I'll keep the keyboard that I use with it as it has the TrackPoint and is great for travel - http://www3.lenovo.com/au/en/accessories/keyboards-and-mice/…

Looks like you got the best deal - USD 557 after refund.

Even with the pen ordered it's still under USD $600 so I'm pretty happy with that. Not sure if I need pro or not but I may upgrade if I can get a key for around $20-40.

HopShopGo which is the same company

Easy as, I arranged for it to be sent Friday afternoon our time and it arrived Monday 4:30pm. They had a promotion so shipping was cheaper.

          International Shipping Charges: 48.00
          Fuel Surcharge: 5.16

        • @Maverick-au:

          Is it their labourday promotion?

I had an account with them before but now can't seem to login to their site as they've used PayPal login.

Might give it a try again

          Cheers :)

HopShopGo have always used PayPal login as they are only for use with PayPal.

Turns out the model I have came with the Intel Realsense 3D Camera which is a bonus and to top it off I was able to upgrade Home to Pro using a Windows 8.1 Pro Retail key!

        • @Maverick-au:
Nice. Realsense apps that dimension rooms and so on could be quite handy for e.g. renovation projects

  • well, I came so close! however the USB charging is a fraud lol:
You cannot charge Miix 700 from an external battery/power bank and even though the charging port is "integrated" with USB 2.0 port, it's using different (specific) pins - there's no dedicated power bank and/or cable.

    • Can you charge any laptop with external power bank? Tablets for sure

    • Combining the USB OTG and charging port kills these tablets (inc the Samsung). It really makes the Surface the only real option.

      • Why? Surface pro only has 1 USB 3.0 port. This one has 1 USB 3.0 and 1 USB 2.0 so even though charging occupies the USB 2.0, the USB 3.0 is still free for use.

        • surface pro has a usb charging spot in the power pack if thats any consolation. But I guess that means you have to bring the charger with you lol

        • This one has 1 USB 3.0 and 1 USB 2.0 so even though charging occupies the USB 2.0, the USB 3.0 is still free for use.

          Did not know that. Interesting.

  • Anyone know what advance of Samsung pro, comparing Lenovo miix 700? Why it sell US$150 more but got so many likes in another deal? Thanks

I ordered a Miix 700, because it seems cheaper and beautiful based on my view. Is there any big shortcoming of lenovo Miix 700 I missing? TA

    • Anyone know what advance of Samsung pro, comparing Lenovo miix 700? Why it sell US$150 more but got so many likes in another deal? Thanks

      Lots of Samsung fanboys.

      • Thanks, understand.

I like some Samsung products (edge and tab s 10.5), but I'm not a brand fans.

    • have you check the specs and compare between sam pro and this? very similar?

      • +1

very similar, no significant difference on tech spec

      • +2

Differences that I can comment on.

        Display technology
Samsung tablet is AMOLED vs Lenovo IPS.
This means samsung will display more vivid colours and deeper, inky blacks.
Lenovo exhibits PWM (flicker) at 200Hz at a dimming setting of 18% or lower, so above that setting should be aceptable.
Samsung AMOLED exhibits PWM at similar frequencies, however I could not find out what brightness settings this applies.

        Expansion/upgrades
Lenovo has a slot for Micro SD storage expansion, 80mm SSD can be upgraded to a larger model. Samsung does not have sd card expansion option.
Samsung has the faster USB Type-C 3.1 port, however you will need an adapter for the older USB accesories, Lenovo has a USB 2.0/charging port and a USB 3.0 port.

        Ergonomics/Kickstand
Samsung has only two settings for the cover folding to allow for two discrete angles, Lenovo has a wide range of adjustable screen angle.
Samsung stand produces a flat surface which may be slightly more comfortable on the lap than the Lenovo, which presents a narrow edge from the kickstand onto your lap, and may be unsteady to use in this manner.

    • +1

Samsung has an Amoled screen and integrates with the samsung phone and samsung laptop .

      • +1

Yes, and I found a lot people like Samsung tabpro s thinner.

My budget is limited and I like Miix look (or say surface pro 4 clone, lol) personnally.

    • Looks like same thing. Anyway, AU stock

      • 170$ more

        • +1

That's normal right? AU Stock always means more expensive.

But for this, I don't think it's worth because Miix 700 got International service.

The IWS service is NOT supported for new idea products announced and sold after February 28th, 2016, except for certain models only (ideapad Yoga 900 laptops and Lenovo Miix 700 tablets).

        • @thunder tiger plus: ah yeah.. $170 is alot. amazon is fine

  • Which retailer in auatralia would stock this? Also is the m5 that much better than the m3? And is there problem with only 4gb of ram?

    • M5 is better than M3, but slighter in my mind. 4 gb ram is possible problem in the future, but it's ok to me.

I buy it because I found even tab s2 9.7 would cost 450+ recently and why don't I pay more for a larger screen and try win tablet.

Futu online ebay got a group deal of same thing, you can pay 840 with code for AU stock.

    • EDIT: They don't ship to Australia :( you would need to use a mail forwarder

If you are after a bit more power for a bit more cash have a look at this set up:

      Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 700 - 12" 2-in-1 Latop/Tablet (Intel Core m7, 8GB SDRAM, 256GB SSD) 80QL000CUS

      https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017OF6T9O/ref=twister_B01HH7NXSO?…

    • JB HiFi had the M3 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD model when I checked today for $999 on "special"

  • I'm debating between this, the surface pro 3, Samsung tab pro s12 and the dell xps 12 what would be the best choice?

    • Personal opinion:
surface pro 4 is the best, pro 3 should be better than others

All others are similar, with their own strengths (oled screens, better keyboard dock etc.). But each strength is valuable to a special group. So it really depends on what you need.

I go with Miix just because its price and surface look

  • Does anyone know if the HDMI output from the Miix 700 will support an external 2560x1440 screen at 60Hz?

    • +1

as an update - I spoke with Lenovo support and they claim it will drive an external 2560 x 1440 monitor
