Beat me to posting :p Bought this as soon as the sale went live…definitely good value for the 32GB I think.

    • -1

      Cheaper here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/263390

And amazon might give better warranty support with their paid return shipping.

      • +4

That's the 2GB/16GB one…I'm happy to pay $30 for extra GB RAM and more internal space (even though you can expand that).

  • What's Mobileciti's reputation for Warranty and service?

I notice that the G4 supports B28, but the G4 Plus does not, however it does support other 700MHz bands (12 and 13). Does this mean it is perfectly compatible with all Aussie 700 bands? Not sure what this really means.

    • " Cheaparoo 18 min ago Comment unpublished. (Duplicate)". Where do I see the original? I don't see any comment.

      G4 Plus support band 28:

      Moto G Plus - XT1642
      GSM / GPRS / EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
      UMTS / HSPA+ (850, 900, 2100 MHz)
      4G LTE (B1, B3, B5, B7, B8, B19, B20, B28, B40)

      • Where did you find that? I've searched a couple of sites including GSMARENA and PHONEARENA.

        • +2

That's from the Motorola Australia website :)

  • Is the camera on this on par as the Nexus 5X?

  • @hamza23

">" means greater than. So I think you mean:

    G4 Plus 64GB/4GB > G4 Plus 32GB/3GB > G4 Plus 16GB/2GB > G4 16GB/2GB

    • +1

Meant it more like arrows to show the 1st model to the 4th, didn't think of it like like that, will fix thanks :)

  • 2 year warranty??

I thought only 12 months on the Moto phones?

    Good price for the 32gb/3gb

    • statutory warranty on phones in australia is 2yrs.

      • +1

Some they offer 12 months only. Moto Nexus 6. I think 24 months is related to plans, and they must warranty phone for as long as the contract.

        G4 plus too http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Motorola-Moto-G-4-Plus-XT1642-Dua…

Not sure why the OP states 2 yrs? Or am I looking at a different G4 Plus with 3 gig ram?

  • **following on from above.
Paid $345 for the 16gb/2gb plus just last week.
Good price for the 3gb version.

  • Looks good. Some questions:
    - Does 2nd SIM support 3G?
    - Is the microSD slot separate from SIM slots, or 2nd SIM slot works as a microSD slot as well?

Reading about the hand warmer issue on the Amazon deal made me skip it. It will be exactly the same here. Qualcomm really stuffed up the 810/615 series of SOCs.

    • Qualcomm is moving from 28nm to Samsung 14nm node. I know it is their CPU design that has problems, but hopefully the process shrink helps Qualcomm to improve their thermal throttling issue.

  • Is the 64/4 on special to?

    • +1

The 64/4 isn't available, I'm yet to see it for sale in Australia.

  • +5

Be aware, Motorola G4 and Plus have a serious overheating issue(CPU Throttling) which seems very common and will influence your overall user experience.

    • +2

In day to day usage, you are unlikely to face any overheating issues on the Moto G4 and its Plus sibling. I have been using the phone as my daily driver for almost a week now, and I never encountered any heating issues. My daily usage involves using WhatsApp, Hangouts, Chrome, Twitter, taking a few photos, using Endomondo to track my run, checking emails, and lots of voice calls — pretty rudimentary, but what majority of us actually do on a daily basis.

      From your links.

  • Can I use 4G on both sims at once?

    • +2

      Can't do that unfortunately, it's 4G/3G

      • +1

but heaps better than 4G/2G which becomes 4G/null RSN…

  • +1

Don't know why people like Moto G*, but I hate the Moto G3 so much that I sold it away.
I swear I will never buy another phone without a notification light ever again.

    • no apple for you.

    • +1

It is media-hype. Plastic Build. Overheating CPU. There is nothing extraordinary about Moto G series, yet tech journalists who are creditable as video game journalists claim G series is a bargain so people believe.

Let's be fair though, I bought G3 for my dad and it has been much problem-free than his last phone, Asus Zenfone 2.

      • What sort of extraordinary thing you expect from a smart phone?
It does everything a high end thousand dollar phone can do. A bit of plastic build? Get over it!

        • What sort of extraordinary thing you expect from a smart phone?

          Taking pictures without lagging?

        • @motor89: that's probably android OS issue or just she got a bad one (could happen to any phone). Here's another review that has no issue (I would trust Android Authority with android phone reviews)
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jdwf-pa0NKQ
Myself got a X Style (bought for $300) and never had any lagging

        • @mcp2kpro:

LOL Krystal herself is from Android Authority. And here is another video from a reputable youtube reviewer showing that Moto G4 struggles to take shots.

Many people complain about the overheating issue on Lenovo forum.

        • @motor89: I see, well I ordered one and will see how it goes

        • @mcp2kpro: Hopefully you are not getting the one that overheats. Good luck with your purchase.

        • @motor89: Thanks mate, lets hope Lenovo hasn't screwed up another icon brand.

  • Grabbed the 2GB from Good Guys the other week using the Paypal discount after my HTC One M8 gave up the ghost. Does the job and the price is right, runs Dragon Quest VIII nicely so no complaints.

  • Getting paid next week - is it worthwhile waiting & ordering? Or is it going to sell out?

    • The eBay deal ends this Friday 2nd Sep. However for the 32GB the black is about to sell out and I'd say the white would sell out this afternoon (9 have sold in 3 hours and 9 more available for sale). For the 16GB it will last longer, still more than 10 available for each colour.

  • Sold out :-( (32GB Black is what I was after!)

    • Black is available again, looks like they added more stock of all varieties.

      • +1

        Just purchased one, thank you!

  • Is Mobileciti the official seller of Motorola phones in Australia ? Is the warranty by the store or by Motorola ?

    • Yes, we are official motorola seller in Australia, its Australian stock all warranty handle by Motorola or they service agent.

      Thanks!

      • Any more black versions on its way? They got ozbargained while I was doing the laundry :(

        • Just noticed that Motorola Moto G4 Plus 16GB is back in stock now.

        • @hamza23: Hope they get the 32GB back before ebay offer ends.

        • @nagel:

32GB black back in stock now.

        • @hamza23: thanks, you are a champ! all Im going to miss is NFC but you cant have everything at this price I guess…

  • No NFC means no Android Pay

  • Got this, have had it for over a month, hands down, for it's value etc, it's a no brainer.

    • I agree and personally I prefer this over cheaply made chinese phones or over priced samsung & apple.

  • Any bricks and mortar places in Brisbane offering the 32/3 model that I can price match? So far HN and OW only have 16/2.

I think 16 is a little on the small side now.

    • I haven't seen the 32/3 in any bricks and mortar stores, you'll have issues price matching a deal that requires an eBay coupon anyway.

  • this one ticks all the boxes in every way (4g/3g sim + sdram, good camera, Oz frequencies, 3gb RAM, etc..), the only neg ive read is the plastic material of the device, nothing a good decent leather cover case doesnt fix. this price point is amazing IMO. was going to go cheap chinese branded phone, but then this came up. well done!

  • +1

Thanks OP, grabbed 32GB black version.
Anyone have recommendation for a case yet? What about this one?
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/142069954662?var=441165475334

    • im looking at cases too, would luv to hear peoples opinions on who owns this phone already.

  • Cheers Op, 1grand fathers day cash taking me long way. Next a tablet with decent spec and good price. Any suggestions?

  • Just bought a 32/3. Looks to satisfy my requirements.

  • bought 1 last month while my LG G4 was sent back for warranty repair, also while waiting for my UMI SUPER to arrive from CHINA (via PostNL took 26days to arrive), bought the moto g4 plus from TGG ebay via my $50 coupon off. Can't wait for the 32GB that time as the 32gb version was only available from the moto au website, therefore bought the 16gb version (back then those retailers only have 16gb available)..long story short, 1 bright pixel out of the box, and also "ghost touch" while battling Pokemon Go gym, in which it is super annoying that it will eventually ghost touch me out of the battle half way…my UMI SUPER now is my main pokemon go device, however having GPS issue while i am in the car. Google Maps is completely useless on UMI SUPER.. will i buy another moto g4? YEA, just bought one 32gb version and i'll pack the 16gb back for warranty. Hands down most value phone.

Bought moto g4 16gb $349 (after ebay voucher)
    UMI super 32gb $249

$100 gives me a day and night different between the moto g4 and umi super if the moto g4 doesn't come with ghost touch due to overheating issue and bright pixel. Moto g4 is lighter and easy on hand as well.

  • Great phone, replaced my LG G4 as I need dual sim for work/personal numbers. Best thing about this handset is the stock Nexus experience.

Software wise it's almost identical to my Nexus 5, only exception is a much improved camera and app.

    • You mean stock android? Nexus also uses stock android OS.

      • Yes, that's exactly what I mean. It's very close to pure Android Nexus in terms of look and feel.

    • how does the camera compares to LG G4?

      • +1

The LG G4 camera is outstanding, the Moto G4 Plus camera isn't the same but it holds it own and I've been able to capture some great shots.

For a mid-range handset the camera is very good, and the differences arent' enough to bother me.

The Moto also has a Professional Mode (manual), Panorama, Slow-Mo, and Burst modes.

        • Did you face the heating issue? How is that bothering?

        • @ebbzuv: No heating issue, when it's working hard in games you can feel the back heat up a bit. I compared internal temps using CPU-Z to my LG G4 and the temps are very similar. I think the Moto feels a bit warmer due to the thin plastic backing or lack of insulation.

I haven't experienced any adverse heating, no crashing of games or lockups. It's all just normal and expected for modern phones.

  • Sorry for this pathetic question, but am a dumbars… when it comes to phones. Will this phone work with a telstra sim card or does it have to be unlocked?

    • No need to apologise, the phones are all unlocked so they'll work with any sim card/network, including Telstra.

      Lock Status: Unlocked

  • I got one: Motorola Moto G4 Plus 32GB/3GB
    Awesome !!!

  • No more 3gb/32gb?

  • Looks like I've wasted money on another semi useless (to me) phone. I can't get Compass or Satellite Finder to work. These are 2 things I need for work :/

Some of the apps install but don't work, others just state 'Not compatible with your device'. I just don't know how I'm meant to find this out before i purchase.

    • Pretty sure they don't have compass/magnetometer, one of the things that put me off getting it.

      https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Moto-G4-Moto-G4-Plus-Moto-G4/To…

      • Why is it Lenovo? I noticed that label when it booted. I thought it was Motorola. Did one buy out the other?

      • And… DOH.

What phone do I need to go to that has the same specs as this without the $700+ price tag?
