By definition a cable cannot be 3A if it has a USB A Male connector. Period.

    • If I plug it into a 3A+ power pack and plug the type c into a device that draws 3A, then it will be 3A. I have a bunch of Apple and Samsung Power packs with type A style sockets that are rated to 3, 5 or 10Amps.

      • USB A Male connectors cannot draw more than 2.4A.

        • I find this confusing then. Why do my power bricks that only have a USB A output say as much as 10A output on them? I don't know how accurate they are, but the current app on my Nexus shows 2.9A when I use the 5A brick from my old Samsung and one of these cables.
I've also tested a 10A brick and one of these cables with my dell laptop that supports USB C charging and appear to be drawing more than 2.4A. That said, I haven't actually measured the current using a multimeter so can't vouch for the accuracy of the current readings that the software on my devices are saying.

  • Code still works, yay!
