Played the first one and thought "What's all the fuss about, this is tame as a kitten!" Complained to a mate that there was no "atmosphere" to make me scared and he told me where to change audio to full channel something-or-other. Ooooooooooooh baby, I was only on half the effects! From then on it was goosebump central.
Still, the most freakiest I EVER got was Black and White; I didn't know the game would whisper your name from time to time and fark me I was getting freaked out!
Love the original F.E.A.R, such a great horror/shooter with some of the best slow-motion effects I've ever seen in a video game. It's probably aged horribly but still a classic and all the games for 5 bucks is a steal.

I'd recommend not installing FEAR 3 as it is the pits, and diminishes the enjoyment of the first 2.
FEAR still has the best AI I have ever seen in a game. Even the sequels have worse AI than the original. One of the best FPS games of all time IMO.
