    synthetic engine oil 5L $15.99

    real oil surely is better…

    • Canola?

      • can or plastic, shouldn't matter…

  • 3x5L should give you 2 changes, and a bit for top-up

  • As fas as I can tell the manufacturer specified oil for your car is 5W30. How many miles on your car? And what temperature does it get down to where you live?

Just note that 10W40, will be a more viscous/thicker oil, so at lower temperatures will not "flow" as quickly, and at operating temperature it will also be thicker (SAE40 vs SAE30). (The first number is the cold viscosity, the second is the viscosity at temp.)

However, if you have a lot of miles on your car, a more viscous oil may work for you. ie the 10W40 may benefit you.

Just remember if you go to a higher viscosity, then your oil will not flow as well in cold weather. I'm guessing it doesn't get too cold in Sydney though, so this shouldn't be an issue. In Tasmania, I would maybe stick to the manufacturers recommendation.

    • tks mate, my car is 2008 Territory sy petrol; 13w km; I prefer 5w40 on other special

  • Never heard the brand. Is it better or equivalent to Castrol Magnatec 10W40?

  • I am in Perth, Nissan X-Trail 2008, 199K ODO. The dealer changed 10W-30 Last time. Is 10W-40 suitable?
Could not find any deal for 10W-30 for a long time. Thanks in advance..

  • I believe that gulf Western is a decent brand.

  • +1

@me786, I'd use this if you are in Perth, it's hot there and summer is coming so it will be fine.

This is good oil, a lot of people (whirlpool) like it and I use it in several older cars. Gulf Western say it has a lot of detergents which appears to be true, it gets dirty quite quickly in direct comparison to others I've used in the same cars (eg Magnatec). So it seems to clean the engine as well as hold the particulates well. for this price it's easy choice.
