  • If successful, a box of a dozen Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnuts will be delivered to you

    So is it a competition?

    • +3

I think its more them meeting demand. See Uber Gelato deals.

As an example, think of it as OzBargainers finding a freebie online which results in the website getting the hug of death. Just got to keep trying until you're successful.

      • the hug of death.

        perfect

    • Apparently they control the keys to the doughnut store. Only lucky people would actually get through.

ALL CARS ARE CURRENTLY BUSY DELIVERING DOUGHNUTS. PLEASE CHECK BACK SOON!

  • The Adelaide Metro needs to be at the start of the title. I got too excited…

  • Doughnuts cost $18 per box. This will be automatically charged to your Uber account. Krispy Kreme and Uber will in turn support Team Kids.
    How is it Free?

    • New users can signup with the promo code DOUGHNUTS to receive their #DoughnutsonDemand FREE if successfully requested. Promo valid 19 August 10am – 2pm. to receive $18 towards their request.

Free for New Users. $18 for existing.

      • Thanks Neil

  • Note that if you use this you CANNOT use a new code for a $20-25 ride voucher. Best to donate directly, buy a box and then catch a free uber home.

    • There are a few assumptions you are making in deciding which is better.

One assumption is that you will ever use Uber in the future. If you are never going to use Uber again, then you should use this deal, not wait for some future ride that may not occur.

Another assumption is that your ride will cost more than $18. Many of my trips would be short, less than ten minutes, from home to the airport. Not sure about Uber pricing, because I'm a new user, but I'd assume it will not save $18 from every possible first trip, only ones longer than a certain unknown distance.

Thirdly, it is about uncertainty in the future. If you're uncertain at all about actually using the future benefits, which are only marginally (~20%) better, then I'd say that you should definitely go for the rewards today. This is a combination of the above two and includes the idea that they carry some element of risk.

A dozen doughnuts in the hand today is worth more than an Uber ride that may occur tomorrow.

  • ugh all cars busy

    • Same here! OzBargained!

      • Meanwhile In metro Adelaide Broden opens up a black market Krispy Kreme outlet

  • it says a new user promotion already applied to your account. i have not used any codes before and i am a new user.
the website does not say what code was being applied.

  • Got 1 and just checked my email i have been charged $18 even though the promo code was successfully applied. What should i do?

    • Yikes! If you used PayPal, check your transactions in there.

      • Yes it's reflecting everywhere. Paypal, my credit card account and even receipt email from Uber all say $18 booo

    • Mine stated the same except nowhere I could find actually charged me the $18 (used PayPal)

    • Shoot Uber an email and they should fix it up . If it's happened to you then probably happened to others.

      • Thanks Neil, sent an email. Fingers Crossed.

  • So how do I get my doughnuts? The promotion is there in the app, but what do I do get them?

    • Next time you book an über car there will be a box of doughnuts in the back seat. Nice touch.

  • +2

a good tip for new accounts, select add payment option later and then you can redeem the voucher without having to worry about being charged.

I also just went down to the Krispy Kreme in the city and they gave me the donuts without having to have them delivered.

Nova and stuff are down there handing out a bunch of flyers, good ones too. $10 off next dozen etc.

    • Which kk? Grenfell St or Gouger St?

      • Grenfell/James Place. See Instagram

        • They are apparently out of stock now.

        • @redhaze1:

Cool, have marked expired. Hope everyone got their doughnuts.

    • I did this too.. various Uber staff members are set up as drivers, and they just hand you the doughnuts.

However I ended up getting charged by PayPal for it. The DOUGHNUTS promo code is still in my account, so it clearly didn't apply. I've put in a support request about it, so hopefully they fix it up soon.

  • Got my dozzen!!!

Now i see a $18 charge on my paypal.

Whats the option to dispute this apart from doing it via paypal?

    • +1

I'm in the middle of a dispute about the same. Their first response a few minutes ago was that it's an $18 deal for doughnuts. I have replied, quoting their advertising about new customers getting it for free, and insisting they make good on the offer. Hopefully they fix it up soon, so I don't have to raise a PayPal dispute because that sounds awkward for this situation.

  • just dispute it through the app, they should get it sorted soon.

  • +1

Got my money back. And loving the sugary friday!!

    • Did you raise it as an issue through the app?

      • Yes, but also via paypal.

        • I got my doughnuts and was charged too. I went on the Uber website and reported it there and I eventually got my refund after about 3 hours. I think I can assume that it happened to a lot of people, but I wonder how many didn't bother reporting it.

        • @wombat1955:

          I'm still waiting :(

  • i got charged $36. ????
I have left a Facebook message to them and also raise a Paypal Dispute.
