Got a fit 2 very nice device, and i find it to stay on well.

  • +1

Wow, lucky I refunded my $268 gear fit 2 the other day! haha

  • +2

That's a bloody good price for the MS Band

    • +1

Can't resist at that price, even is the MS Band 3 is incoming.

Samsung Gear 3 announcement on Aug 31. Also new MS band coming. Just FYI. MS band 2 dropped to 99 usd on Amazon a few weeks ago. Good devices and good prices but I'm waiting to see what IFA brings.

    • Thanks :) going to stop looking at these two now.

    • Yeah i'll be getting the MS Band 3 for sure!, until then $198 is decent enough to buy one until then :)

    • Samsung Gear 3 (S3?) would be a successor to the Gear S2 right? Quite a different beast to the Gear Fit 2 that was only released like 2 months ago.

      • Yep S3, successor to S2. Looks like there'll be a fitness-y model that will be > Fit 2

        • Ah right. Rumors look good, but also looks like it might be around $500. That's a little bit more than I'd be prepared to pay and the Gear Fit 2 seems to do all I've been looking for.

        • @NigelTufnel:

Yeah that's my exact same dilemma!

    • +2

Gear 3 is not a successor of Gear Fit 2, though.

      • Yeah, check out some of the expected specs on the Gear S3 though, seems like there will be a model that does everything Fit 2 does + more

        • & so it should for over $500

        • @TRENT86:

Yep. This close to potential big announcements from multiple companies at IFA though I will hold off buying anything so I can compare the value of these to the latest stuff.

        • @jamestownfx: Yeah will be interesting

THe microsoft band 2 feels like it's still a beta product. The UI is unappealing imo. What's the main difference between the gear s2 and the fit 2?

    • +2
    • +1

I liked the UI, but found it very uncomfortable to wear all the time. Especially when at my computer. Make sure you try it on before you buy.

    • How does it feel like a beta product? I've been using one for 8 months and have never had a single bug. It gets all my notifications, it notifies me when I'm getting a call, I use it to control my music on my phone, it tracks my sleep/heartrate/steps/etc.

The UI works great, nice and simple. Swipe across to the menu item you want, press it to select it. Can't really see how that is unappealing.

      • Can't wait for mine to come from another store :D

      • +1

I feel the ui is boxy. Very basic. Just imo

        • +2

It is boxy because it uses "tiles" like all things Windows have for years. Don't really see how that makes it feel like a "beta product" though.

  • Nice, I as tempted to get the Gear Fit 2 on the previous deal at $228, but held out. I don't think I can hold out on this…

Been waiting for the Microsoft Band 2 to hit the Sub $200, Boom! Hey Cortana!

    • +8

      Cortana says no

  • +2

Very tempting. But I was always more inclined to the circular smart watches like the moto. The band will stick out too much on a ladies wrist I reckon.

  • Love my gear fit 2

  • +2

I'm keen on the G920 deal, does anyone know if Forza Horizon is a download code or disc?

    • Unfortunately, I do not have exact information available however, looking at the system info I got, it seems like a disc.

      According to their live chat.

    • +1

Going by the code num you will get this, so looks like disc

I bought this and asked the same question when I picked up the wheel, the staff said disc.

Bought a Huawei smart watch for the wife to do fitness tracking. Feedback was pretty poor due to the size so now I am on the market looking for something else

This deal arrives at a perfect time. Samsung vs Ms, tough choice for me. Any recommendation please?

    • My wifey doesn't want any bands. So I got her the BellaBeat Leaf. Check it out. It was cool for her and the price is pretty good.

Smart watches make you look like a sheep. Buy something unique instead.

MS should be licensing/providing different geometries of the hardware for real watch makers to create something nicer from

    • I suppose you own a one of a kind custom made car then?

      • -7

        I don't own a car.

Besides, cars are a necessity item for many to get to work. Watches? Luxury item. Plus, cars must be engineered. Watches where MS has done the engineering and another manufacturer does the aesthetics also not the same.

Not sure why you'd fight my good idea.. do you own a smart watch?

        • Plus, cars must be engineered. Watches where MS has done the engineering and another manufacturer does the aesthetics also not the same.

You think there are not engineering challenges in designing a watchface for a large enough PCB to be a 'smart watch'?

        • Yes I do own a smart watch. I was a very early adopter with a Motorola motoactv. Which still works fine.

        • -1

          @Agret:

          What?

MS would have done all the hard work. Did you read what I wrote correctly??

Next thing you'll be saying people can't design a rubber band to hold a xiaomi mi band without a degree in rocket science.

    • +4

I'd say doing what people who don't know your circumstances tell you to do or mindlessly perpetuating dribble like this makes you more of a sheep, but that's just my opinion.

  • -2

Gear fit too is hopeless can't make calls can't watch youtoob can't talk can't cant

    • +1

      It's a watch. Not a phone.

  • +2

Just got the band 2 price matched from jb hifi for $198. Was actually going to buy it today anyway for $249, so I'm loving the timing of this deal!

  • DOes anyone know when these deals are finishing?

    • 4th Sep

      • Thank just one day before my birthday :D

  • +3

Re MSB2 Well this is the new low price - started at $380, then $250. Bit of a rumour of an upcoming MSB3 but unknown atm and that will be back at a $400 price most likely.

There was a fault with this one where the rubber on the band started tearing - 2 yr warranty and MS have swapped tons under warranty. Batch 1608 and up have supposedly fixed issue with reinforcement.

Seriously love my MSB2 not just a fitness / GPS / sleep tracker but full on smart notifications. I can speak into it and say "Text the wife and tell her to get knotted" or "Remind me in an hour to get tinnies out of freezer". I can glance at incoming text messages, emails, viber alerts, messenger etc. Oh look CBA shares have hit $x etc. V. cool.

    • Does it work that well with an iPhone? Nothing on the web really tells me that.

      • not completely sure - depends how well Cortana runs on Apple

        • +1

Thanks. I gathered you are on WP. Alright I will see if I want to spend that money. :)

I really like the band's specification, blow the Apple Watch away but I am not sure if all functionalities will work well with iPhone. Oh well.

  • Microsoft Band 2 medium is available from Amazon for 135 USD + shipping

    • Yeah I noticed that too yesterday and stopped short of posting it since it works out to be only a couple of $$ cheaper with this deal which is local support and warranty. I'm waiting for the $99 USD deal to make it worth buying from Amazon.

  • IF the MS Band 2 had music storage I reckon that would be the way to go, but seeing as it doesn't I'm very tempted by the Gear Fit 2….Hmmm decisions, decisions.

  • +1

Thanks for the deal, picked on up for me and the missus on Saturday, love them. Yes they do work on I phones no problem (using a 6+ here)

  • Got Microsoft Band 2 for $178.20 @ Rebel. They beat price by 10%. I went to JB first but JBHIFI didn't even want to match price and claimed no stock.

  • Got the Gear Fit 2 in the end as the MS Band didn't have the music storage I was after.

The Gear Fit 2 says 4GB but just a bit over 50% of that is actually usable (Mine had 2.2gb free). Still, that's easily enough for a couple hundred songs which is perfect.

New to the fitness tracker market but I'm loving it so far.

  • Got the gear fit2 from JB for $189. Love the display and the UI! Hope it locks GPS quick. Haven't tested thst bit yet.
