Great deal on the i7 - it's an additional $200 discount (before the 20%) to bring it down to that price. The i7 is usually ~$300 more than the i5.

Also, for what it's worth, you'll get the i7 around 1 week sooner as it ships from Sydney whereas the i5 ships from Malaysia.

    • Sorry, but how do you know that the i7 ships from Sydney?

  • Bought the i7 from last deal. Love it

    • Hey NeoX. Was just curious how long battery life actually is on 1 full charge.

I find it hard to believe the "up to 18 hours, 14 mins" as listed.

      • Well it all depends on what you do. I haven't fully tested from full to 0% as I use it on and off. One time I was doing a virus scan and had some music in the background. Left it on over night cos I forgot to shut it off, it was still running in the morning with about 30% or so battery left. Overnight was about 7hrs sleep?

I say the battery life is pretty good but I can't give you exact numbers but I know it's pretty high up there. Maybe not 18hrs as indicated :)

  • In term of the display. It is worth to upgrade to QHD or FHD on this setup is sufficient?

You get way better battery life with the FHD setup. On a 13" screen its a bit of a waste to have a QHD imo.

    • QHD gives you touchscreen and glossy display, if you are into that stuff. I personally prefer the matte display and better battery life - resolution of FHD is good enough for 13".

    • For me it's worth it. Looks much sharper. If you want it looking almost as good as an iPad, go for the QHD+.

      1080p is fine too.

    • So i just decided to get the Toshiba Radius 12 4K for $1444 similar spec with the Dell 13 XPS QHD but apparently the screen on the Toshiba is better calibrated and a bit brighter. The battery I heard is not as great as the XPS but then I saving around $800 by going with Toshiba so why not.

Apparently the Iris 540 graphics in the i7 version are significantly better than the graphics chip in the i5, worth looking into if you're comparing the two.

Yes that's what all the reviews are saying. I did try tomb raider on it and there's no slowdowns at all playing at 1080p resolution. One of the reason I got the i7 over the i5 model

  • Thoughts on buying this for my mother?

She wants something that lasts, but I'm not sure if ULV CPU's fit that description terribly well. But then I don't want her to get one of the regular POS notebooks that saturate the market either. But then this might be overkill for her needs. Ugh. Hard to shop for other people without actually shopping for yourself.

    • Get her an Inspiron. Much cheaper and should be sufficient for her needs.
