Animal is the vacuum head you get. Most come out in both variants
Dyson has multiple products that have the animal title. This is a different handstick from the V6 Animal you are thinking of, this one is also an older generation model and not as good as its V6 counterpart in terms of overall performance.
There's a V6 Animal and a DC44 Animal.
This is the one from before the V6, it's not worth very much.
The V6 isn't even the latest model anymore.

Is the DC45 better then the DC44? All I want is a Dyson to clean a standard 3 bed house.

Dyson Digital Slim for Canada and Continental Europe, essentially the same as the DC44
We have the DC45 and a normaltype Dyson vacum cleaner. The normal one doesnt get a run much except when i use it for my cars. Wife uses the stick vacum the most the battery on ours lasts about 20 mins which is plenty for our house which is a big 4 bedder.
Just to clear things up -
DC44 and DC45 - the same machine with different colours and attachments. They both use the second version of Dysons digital motor. The DC45 is for sale at the good guys, Harvey Norman, JB hifi ect.
V6 - the newer version of Dysons handstick with a more powerful digital motor, more sensitive trigger, and an improved main head.
Animal - A package including a motorhead (in the cordless example powered with a brush bar) that works well on carpet, couches, mattresses and upholstery. Should not be used on leather/leatherette.
Named animal as it's generally used to remove animal hair from cloth/carpet and because it's a catchy name.
The V6 motorhead if you don't mind spending an extra $130 is better value at Harvey Norman/good guys also comes with the mini motor head and a much upgraded main head.
So in conclusion, is it worth it to buy this model at this price? I don't think comparing it to the other models help much… The main question remains- is it worth it for the quality, for that reduced price? I really need to know if I should get one :D

I'm a little lost, I thought the Animal is part of the V6 range? Is this a different handstick?
