Keen if anyone has a quick review?

    • Its a $15 car mp3 deck. Awesome if you own a $500 car. From the back it would be nice to see what the block connector actually looks like.

      • There's a picture of the back on the page.

BT version (60Wx4) for about us$8 more using above discounts. Bluetooth hands-free calls, Bluetooth wireless music playing

Probably better putting money towards name brand units regularly discounted at JB & posted on OzBargain. Picked up a SONY MEX-N5050BT head unit for $80 (BT, 200Wx4, CD, Aux, USB, remote). Can operate it from app on installed tablet or phone. But much cheaper units are posted.

Sweet as, used to use one of these in the shed hooked up to an old 12v battery charger for a shed radio (i'd admit there was easier ways to do this). I guess the advantage was being able to plug in decent speakers

Used to do similar with old car radio on solar power (12V) - not bad sound on big speakers. This unit would be decent for that use at this price.

        thinking of doing this.

  • are they easy to install or we need to go to mechanic to get it done?

    • depends how old the car is, many now have a din std pin out plug already in the car in which case no soldering needed, if car is older they sell convectors for the wiring at repco.

      • Or eBay/AliExpress

are they easy to install or we need to go to mechanic to get it done?

If you are asking the question, then you definitely need to get an installer to fit it.

    • Depends on vehicle & if it's replacing old radio or new installation. See if someone you know can help you! Discussed in other deals for head units.

If it's replacing an existing unit, it's usually fairly easy. Plenty of YouTube for basic installation tips based on your vehicle (how to remove old unit / install new one).

The old wiring harness wires can be used to connect the new harness. That entails knowing which old wires connect to speakers (4 pairs), power, dimming. Strip wires or use joiners that don't require wires to be stripped. Then join the appropriate wires. But don't connect power to wrong connection or you'll wreck it.

New install depends where you want the unit & your car.

Paying for an installer will cost many times the price of this deal. It's not hard to install yourself. You may learn something new :-)

Used to have one of these.. Fitted this into my ford festiva 96 $1000 car.. There was no connectors for my festiva to fit the sd card stereo.. Had to strip the wires from the car and match it to thr stereo then some electrical tape around it.. Worked fine with no problem..

This is cheaper than a wiring harness at Repco.

    Unrelated…
I'm currently installing a bargain (but expired) $9 Kmart DAB+ radio into a spare DIN opening in dash. The circuit board is just the right size, so assume was designed for use in car dash.

Removed circuit boards from case, disconnected speaker & 1500mA battery. Need to cut front switch panel out of radio to fit dash opening. Circuit board fits behind it.

Connects to 5V micro-usb, shielded cable to antenna that sits on top of dash, & output from headphone socket to AUX input of Sony head unit.

    Works & sounds great.
Would be a great addition to this unit where DAB+ is available - to give better sounding AM radio & other programs.

  • It's important to mention for those of us still listening to AM that these units have FM bands only.

    • Could plug in a cheap DAB+ radio into AUX input, as above. But only works in major centres with reception.
