Kobo Touch Edition, iRiver Story HD, EZ Reader T730 $28 Each @ Harvey Norman Wiley Park NSW

370

Found these e readers on sale for $28 each at HN. I was in a hurry so didn't pay attention to the specs. Most likely older models. Hopefully someone may benefit from these.
Enjoy 📚

the iriver story HD is no longer a supported product. I wont recommend it.

I should elaborate. It originally connected to google play store. However google drop their support. So this device can just be used as a non-online reader.

    • A few +ve reviews there lol

    • I have had the first Kobo, Kobo Touch and a Kobo Glo and are they are great….

Firmware is being updated all the time.

I paid around $170 for each one and it still was money well spent for the use I got out of each.

      • I was given an old first Kobo a few months ago. I couldn't update the firmware because of how old it is, so I don't have all the basic functions like reading while charging, not showing book cover when powered off, and worst of all, it really struggled with DRM. I wonder if picking up another older Kobo device now will have the same issue?

Cheap and good price for kobo. Old specs and no backlight but if you don't need either, good deal.

i got the iRiver Story HD from Target on their clearance….. which was $29 i think too… haha
It actually is pretty good though. Therefore would totally still recommend it.

    Could this be nationwide??

  • Wow, pretty good. This is exactly what I'm looking for. Anyone want to pick one up for me!?

i had the kobo touch - agree with the reviews saying it would crash and the screen is slow to respond - HOWEVER you really can't go better for this price and with the availability of free ebooks out there this really is a bargain. you can't put a price on learning and knowledge

  • I picked up a Kobo Touch once for $29 (thanks OzBargain) and it was good enough to really get me hooked on the convenience of an e-Reader. Now I have a Kobo Glow that I use every day - until some bigger e-ink readers start to hit the market, which doesn't seem to be happening.

Pros: You can sideload books from any shop, store or service. You can sync up with Calibre. You can switch it to sleep in a second and it'll turn back on and be ready in a second. You can fall asleep and not pick it up until the next day, and it'll still be running with battery to spare. It's tough and easy to deal with.

Cons: The Touch is slow as molasses, especially when it has to refresh its database after syncing up. Kobo's own store is below-average.
