  • Mine was dispatched today apparently (31/05).Last monday I ordered a laptop keyboard cover from Ebay after I paid for this.It came all the way from Hongkong and it turned up here before my laptop was even sent!
Here's a link if anybody is interested http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160423…
It only cost me $11.68 including postage.
If anyone is interested, when the laptop arrives i'll try the cover out and let you all know if it's any good or not.

It's a bit ridiculous, you can get stuff from overseas a lot quicker than this.
I could have crawled to pick it up in less time :) .

  • i got mine today!
so excited!! i needed a new one for awhile
i dont know much about computers but asked some guy friend and he said it was a good deal
what peeved me is that they didn't put a fragile sticker on the box, but with the 2 year warranty, i should be safe ;)

  • Got mine today too(Thursday actually), nice one. But seem to me Asus Australia doesn't market this model(gray import?). But it has international warranty anyway.

  • What makes you say that Fish?
Mine is onboard with driver finally.

    • couldn't search this model in Asus australia web site, but only find it on global web site. and Most Asus in australia have one 1 year warranty, this one has 2.
PS. After fully charged, it only show the battery last 2 hours! Sure it that a 6 cells??

      • I just checked mine,it has a warranty card that states it's 24 months warranty and that it is for Australia and NZ only. All the contact info is for Australia too. There was an Asus Australia sticker on the outside of the box also.
So my guess is that it's Australian model :) .

  • crud - mine still says the same - sitting at Profit Ctr. Was hoping to have it before the weekend so I could transfer everything over and finish my tafe assignments. I'm tired of sharing this lappy with teenage daughter :P

  • Remember to keep 4 DVD+R or DVD-R handy for making Recovery DVDs at the earliest just in case the system crashes anytime in future. It takes almost 2-3 hours to make them so time it as per your convenience.

    • It would be best to do all the windows updates first before backing up wouldn't it?
I'm new to Windows 7 so i'll be learning a lot in the next couple of weeks.
I wonder how much of the standard install software is worth keeping?
Is it decent stuff or not?

      • Well, I would't really bother much about updating first because after recovery the latest updates will be installed in either case. Moreover, there are numerous posts on the internet concerning system crashes after updates.
Some people recommend going through the recovery process on new pre-installed computers in order to get rid of the bloatware. I probably wouldn't bother about it if my CPU, GPU, memory or HDD is not being pushed to the limits to slow down the computer.

        • Just make sure don't use AI Recovery Burner after your updates, I believe that software only back up the "Recovery" partition.
Why do I think so? I used that AI Recovery software and used up 4 DVDs when I first fired up my laptop, then I installed all the stuff I needed (SW, photoshop, acrobat pro, autocad etc..) and it still asked for ONLY 4 DVDs. AT LEAST 5 DVDs (probably 6) would be needed if the software actually backed up all the installed programs in my OS drive.

          • @auszombie: This suggests that Recovery Partition is locked and cannot be modified/updated. Therefore, the recovery process will restore the system back to factory condition. Drive D will probably be not affected by recovery.

  • I'm really loving this laptop :) .
PayPal refund was made yesterday 09/06 which was good too.
