Mountain Buggy Nano $299 @ Toys R Us

190

Cheapest I have seen this pram. Bought one today.
Normally you can get it at 10-15% off however this is a solid 25%.

Check the reviews, 6kg for a travel (take onboard luggage) pram, can't get better. Mountain Buggy Quality as well :)

I am a happy camper!

  • The amount of prams tossed out onto nature strips and the poor resale value of them tells me that it must be one of the fastest-depreciating items available in the stores.

    • Couldn't agree more, however alot of people (myself included) can't do second hand items for their kids. Each to their own I guess.

I saw this was cheap and thought I would share as I did benefit

      • Great price

        Why not second hand?

          children are filthy LOL

food, drinks, vomit and poo would be found on most prams

Bust the hose out. Bust the suds out. Do a little light scrubbing. Let the sun and breeze do the rest. Oil her up a little. Pat yourself on the back for saving yourself hundreds of dollars. All in a day's work?

But the wife might not be happy, and an unhappy wife means an unhappy life.

Better to just splash out sometimes.

Possible. But then that would be illogical fear of 'germs' or something. Can't win them all.

They sure are - lucky most people don't buy them as investments or pieces of art.

Some of them sell like valuable art pieces, that's for sure.

Do a "Sold Listings" ebay search for pram to see just how many sell for a dollar and just how many sell for less than $10. Decent prams too. They sure don't have to be investments of pieces of art, but if I can get a pram for a dollar versus 300 dollars, I think I can manage washing it up, drying it and having the kid use it for a short while, before handing it off to someone else as the kid outgrows it.

That's ignoring all those perfectly good ones that are tossed out on nature strips because people couldn't be bothered selling theirs for a dollar or so.

Aren't these things better at the same price?

    • This looks amazing. Don't know about that sunshade or how it would stack up in the rain, but very cool engineering!

    • a bit different, it doesn't recline and the basket is also smaller compared to the Nano
but pockit is lighter and much much smaller when folded

  • Much cheaper here…

  • These are good, except for one major flaw with them. The locking mechanism on the wheels (that you can push up or down to make the wheels not spin around) is made from paper. We seriously had the thing replaced four times, and eventually they gave us a new pram and told us to keep there broken one

      The price…

    • omigosh what a nigtmare

  • Pushing a cheap stroller can be a nightmare, this is one of those products I'm happy to shell out for a decent brand because it's not worth wrestling with a pram that's like a tank to push or wants to go in all directions like a rogue trolley. Plus if you want features like a comfortable layback or easy small fold you really need to do a bit of research to find the right one. For me it was something we used on a daily basis so I wanted to like it. Mountain Buggy prams are fantastic!

  • Have spent the last 7 days in Venice and Rome - if you need a travel pram then it's worth spending the money to get a good one. I bought the nano purely because it was the only one I could get on short notice. It's been absolutely superb. Has gobbled up the cobblestone roads with ease despite the tiny wheels (admittedly our city select would be a nicer ride but travelling with it isn't an option).

Any doubts about this one? Don't have any - buy it. It's great for he size and ease of use

    • Hah. That brings back memories of doing Rome with a cheap pusher. You get to hate it very quickly.

  • Can we take small stroller onboard without luggage?

    • This one you are meant to be able to. Some airlines won't let you though

    • We took our yoyo onboard. Virgin lost its carrier bag when we got them to keep it for us during the flight. We try to carry it in cabin as often as we could. It's inconsistent though. Most of SQ flights allow us to do this, the only time we had problem was flying from Tokyo to Singapore, then it took them half an hour to get the stroller at the gate.

      • Was it because you had more carry on luggage (inc stroller) than allocated? If it's in its own bag when you board they shouldn't be able to refuse as it's the right size and below 7kg…?

        • The ground crews in Tokyo said its safety issue. We told them we had no problem putting them in the cabin in our previous flights.

FYI Stroller isn't included as part of baggage allowance when flying with SQ. but no we definitely had no problem with the amount of carry on.

        • @pandabun: that's strange. From their website "An infant is entitled to 10kg of baggage, as well as a fully collapsible stroller or pushchair and carry-cot or car seat."

        • Power evolution was asking if he/she could bring the folded stroller onboard instead of hand luggage. I was simply replying that some flights don't allow this due to safety issue, albeit chance of this occurring is very small (only happened to us once). And when this happens, they will store the stroller for you so when you get off the plane, you have to wait for their ground crew to bring the stroller for you.

I never said a passenger is not allowed to bring stroller.

        • @emwolf:

I just realised what you were saying.

I believe that the 10kg allowance could mean checked in or onboard. So they can always say no to you bringing your stroller inside the cabin. I think part of the confusion is this kind of compact strollers are not common and considered new. Most of crews had never seen it til they saw ours. They were surprised to see how small our yoyo is when folded.

A bit off topic, I thought you could bring unlimited amount of stuff for your infant. but the last time I checked it was years ago.

        • @pandabun: sorry was replying to "FYI Stroller isn't included as part of baggage allowance when flying with SQ". Agree better to be prepared for a no than be surprised. We purchased the yoyo specifically to avoid that very inconvenient wait for the ground crew to bring up the stroller. Or to have to pick it up from oversized baggage after all other baggage has been claimed.

        • @emwolf:
          I know what you mean.

The one time we got refused, we had to wait 30 minutes for the crew to get the stroller. Luckily our son had good sleep on the plane. I think our 'mistake' was we didn't cover it up with the bag as virgin Australia lost it earlier in the year.

        • @pandabun: Yeah - that's what I figured. Some crew just look at the stroller and say no without thinking (ugh!). We've been lucky but have also had to show crew how it looks when placed in it's bag. After that demo, decided to always pack it up before the boarding gate. I've even been able to squeeze it into a crumpler 60l low level aviator backpack if that's any help.

        • @pandabun: I think the limit sometimes depends on who's at the checkin counter/gate and most airlines have really tightened up their carry on policies.

Qantas specify that you can bring a portacot, stroller and car seat and that doesn't count towards your baggage allowance. Generally 10kg is additional checked in baggage not carry on. If a lap infant, you aren't given extra carry on allowance except for food and nappies (which of course could be substantial!), just that 10kg for checked in baggage aside from the special items above.

Children over 2yo have the same checked and carry on allowances as adults (except those special items above don't count towards your allowance).

        • @emwolf:

Ah right. That's a good idea about the backpack thing. I looked up the carry bag online and it costs $100!

        • @emwolf:

Just confirming, is this the backpack you were referring to? http://www.notemaker.com.au/crumpler-the-lla-action-day-pack…

        • @emwolf: yes we flew heaps and was always allowed to push stroller. but you have to use umbrella types because its easy for them to stowaway. we never had a problem with maclaren

    • Can we take small stroller onboard without luggage?

Virgin didn't let us a few years back…

      Had to check it in…

    • We have the Babyzen yoyo and have take it onboard several international flights. Don't know about the mountain buggy, don't think it's as light as the yoyo?

    • +2

I just got off a meridiana flight from Rome to Olbia. Had my nano on board.

Qatar airways wouldn't let me take it on board from Australia to Italy.

Edit: I have a problem. In Sardinia and the first thing I do is check ozbargain

  • We've had this for 2 years now and the simplicity of putting it up and down is fantastic. We have the larger Cosmo which is much heavier and rugged, and is better suited to offroad use, but the Nano compliments it by being perfect for city use and no fuss usage.

  • Toys r us are taking special orders in store for these prams in all colours at $299.

  • i can only recommend the trusty Maclaren strollers. back 10 yrs ago it used to be an exxy stroller but nowadays its so affordable compared to the exxy strollers.

went on numerous holidays and never once had it rejected. no problem hiring car with luggages n pram because its umbrella fold. can fit in cupboards in a hotel room and can hang numerous bags off the handle. it looks almost new after yrs of use. only need 1 stroller from newborn to when they dont need it anymore instead of wasting money on several strollers. everyone of my friend gas bugaboo to match their designer handbags but swap to maclarens after babies are 1 yo. such a waste of money. has great resale. we sold ours for a few hundred. it lays flat.. this is so important because some babies need pram to be completeflat to sleep. mine like to roll to their tummies and i open te back if the hood do they can see me and look out.

i also have twins n also had the twin maclaren. love that it folds up so small n only 8kgs. only 1 pram from birth and sold it when they were 4yo. especially if u have other kids already, you go out a lot and need something lightweight n easy.

in hk, london, singapore where cars isnt necessary, you eill see maclaren is so popular because can umbrella fold when getting on a bus with baby by yourself.
