coming up as $140.60 ($14.06 per satchel) for me.

Edit - need to click the thumbnail, not the Aus Post link. Might want to make that a bit clearer.

Auspost express post is a joke. Sending a document from Melbourne cbd to the suburb 15 kms away took 3 business days.

  • +2

auspost is a complete joke indeed, im still waiting for 2 of the 3 parcels that was sent from sydney at the EXACT same time from the EXACT same post office; where 1 parcel arrived 2 fridays ago, and the other 2 for no reason at all has been traveling back and forward melbourne and sydney 3 times now and is currently back in sydney. contacted post office several times with no help at all.

    • +2

I'm still waiting for a small package to arrive from Brisbane to Rockhampton QLD that sent 10 days ago.

    • for no reason at all has been traveling back and forward melbourne and sydney

This happens to me occasionally with almost all couriers including Auspost. My Central West NSW address is often mistaken for one in Victoria, so the parcel just ping pongs between Melbourne and Sydney.

The worst case of this ever happening to me was with Border express, the package came from Queensland then ping-ponged between Melb & Syd for around 7-8 weeks, after multiple calls to them it finally got sorted the package arrived at the local collection depot with a great big A3 map folded and taped to the box with my suburb highlighted.

    • finally got the 2nd of the 3 parcel today. the lady at the post said they were probably reading the return address (syd) when it arrives in melb and sending it back, then syd would read the actual address and it comes back to melb until someone with a brain in melb depot realized where its actually supposed to go and not sending it back again.

hope that person is working the next time the last parcel arrives in melbourne…. lol

  • any alternatives for auspost??? ive had enough with their rubbish

still not tried here but probably ready to

      • Its even worse than Auspost.. sent a package from Melbourne to Blue Mountains.. 15 business days..

        • They use Fastway. There are some horrible fastway contractors. There are also some acceptable ones.

Haven't met a good contract postie/courier yet though, they always want to knock on your door and run without seriously attempting to deliver the parcel.

        • @justtoreply:

          They use Fastway.

Yeah, I noticed that just after posting. I have had bad experiences with fastway (the worst) but those experiences were from about 10 years ago. But those memories cut deep…so I think I'll pass.

        • @justtoreply: Yeah.. i know they use fastway, as I spoke on multiple occasions to track down the package I sent. They couldn't tell me where it was at any point in time..

        • @Vladdo:likely behind the drivers seat… True story.

As much as I dislike auspost, there are going to be horror stories regarding logistics regardless of which company it is. Hell, I have even had problems with FedEx and we all know how they are supposed to be the higher end of getting stuff sent on time.

    • Agree and since a lot more people use auspost theres going to be more problems

    • +2

yeah, i'd say Auspost is incompetence but convenience, most of the time it's ok and you got the option to pick up on Saturday morning at a nearby collection centre. The issue with other logistic companies is they don't have wide choice of collection point and if you're working office hour then you're gonna have hard time picking it up, DHL for example, they give you the option to get redelivered (which is pointless), if you want to collect at depot then you'd have to take a fair drive to their warehouse.

    • StarTrack once showed up at my place when I ordered overnight shipping. They carded the mailbox straight away and left. All the while I watched them do it. The delivery guy pretended not to see me. The card was to "collect next business day"… which was a Monday. Had to wait the entire weekend.

      • +2

StarTrack didnt even bother to knock, and carded immediately. No one cared. This was an order from Dell.
TNT delivered my stuff two doors down because driver made wrong assumption. Person who signed for it was less than honest in telling them (brand new Macbook Air). TNT then had the cheek to tell me to just go and get it yourself. Again, no one cared.
AusPost lost packages, rejected insurance claims based on their "views", carded articles without even bothering to knock.
Fastway couriers being useless as usual. Item lost in their own warehouse. Wasn't until I kicked up a major stink at the warehouse, and by chance saw my package being stored away, "awaiting collection"
FedEx driver too lazy to deliver despite being a business address. Even though I paid for express international. Admittedly, the driver was new to the job, but it shouldnt excuse the utter laziness.
DHL has actually been quite good, but im not sure if its because i havent used them much, or if they are actually good.

The point im trying to make is, all logistics company have their flaws. I'm sure if a thread started with the title "Worst delivery/courier experiences you have had", the thread will just snowball in no time.

  • What! sold out~!

    • +1

It appears as though the 3 packs they had have all sold ;-(

  • LOL @ you guys bashing Aus Post.

As t25 explained every logistics has their own problem. Aus Post do over a millions of article per day of course a few will have teething problem. Go and read in the whirlpool forum about DHL/Offcicework/FastTrack/Tolls etcs etcs they all bashing them like no tomorrow.

EDIT: At lease Aus Post I can pickup at the local Post office within a few kms unlike the others courier you might need to travel much further

    • And you can pick it up same day just few hours after the collection card. Idiots at startack asked me to come next day because their lazy driver didnt bother to knock the door and just left card straight away. Tbh, when i lived at Perth startrack were the best and i get my stuff next business day around 10AM but here in Wollongong they seems to be shit. Courier please didnt bother to leave a card and didnt even bother to knock the door, after waiting for few days i asked the seller for tracking number and then i discovered that my parcel is returned to sender because i didnt pick it up from their warehouse(Which they didnt leave a card to notify me about it)!

    • Hang on, it was only a few years ago that Express Post envelopes were delivered to metro areas nationwide the next day, the way they had always been.

  • I had enough of them too…but really they are still the best of the bunch.
I think I'm going to sell my many stash of these express satchels and try the officeworks option.
    Anybody interested? hahaha

    • Be prepared to get many angry customer waiting for their parcel to be delivered from fastway(Hit and miss sometimes they are good and sometimes they are bad, i would only encourage it within capital cities) :). Auspost is still one of the best courier in Australia, i actually prefer startrack but they only deal with business customers.

  • I've never had an issue with any courier of any company, and I order from all over the world quite often.

Startrack (AusPost) always seem to be the most competent and friendliest though.

    Personal experiences always differ.
