  • Insane price for a great kit.

  • price error?

EDIT - sorry duh, didnt realise there was a cashback involved.

  • +1

Does anyone know if the M3 qualifies for the cashback? All the reviews suggest that the M3 is a lot better than the M10. I am more of a Nikon guy, but if the M3 has a cashback I might pull the trigger on one, though it's $800 before the CTEC20 (and cashback, if it qualifies for one).

    • +2

Yes, M3 with kit lens cashback is $200.

    • last time, TGG sell for 727, with 20% and 200bux cash back, only cost u arround 380

      • Damn! Thay price would have been perfect around this time.

        • I was planning to go to thailand at that time, suppose to gain 60bux tax return as well. but TGG never ship my camera out. unitl I got back, keep pushing email to them, then finally received it with 20bux Gift card for apologise…

    • I bought my M3 under the previous eBay Good Guys sale. Submitted my cash back claim last night and today it was approved.

  • +1

I amended my post, u r right. I supposed to write "it can flip down" M10 can only flip up

  • +1
    • +3

Keep in-mind the review is taking in to account the RRP price-point, not $300 AU.

  • For this price, it is a good addition if u have cannon lenses.

    • But you need the adapter and the Canon M series don't handle the regular EF lenses well as a rule - focus is slow compared to native EF-M lenses. Mind you, the EF-M lenses are excellent for the money and so light I rarely use my old Canon lenses anymore. Not sure about the 15-45mm that comes with this but the 22mm and 11-22mm in particular are fantastic sharp lenses, and the 18-55 and 55-200 are no slouches. I've got the M3 which takes brilliant 24MP images and would definitely recommend that for another $150.

      • M10 is not as good as M3 but it is the 15-45 lens I want for travel (equiv. 24-70mm). I already have 22mm. and I use adapter with canon macro lenses (need extra reach + manual focus). I have 6D with prime lenses only. To buy a new 24-70mm canon lens for travel is just so expensive. lol

        • Yeah, I guess you can't go wrong at that price. For the price of a lens, you're getting a camera thrown in. Enjoy.

        • @sepa :)

      • I've got a d700 twin lens kit and a 24mm 2.8 pan came to play with.
Can 24mm be any good for m10?
The Canon EF-M adaptor is 150 thou. Are other cheaper ones any good? Ie Meike AF or Yongnuo for much less price?
        Very tempted

        • I bought the genuine Canon adapter, which is an overpriced chunk of metal with limited technology imo, so I'd definitely go a cheaper adapter if I was buying now. Just bear in mind my previous comment - yes, regular lenses work with an adapter, but they are slow and cumbersome on the Canon M series. You might end up just using the EF-M lens all the time anyway, like me. The are often better than other kit lenses, though I've seen mixed reviews on the 15-45mm, mostly because it's a plastic not metal lens, though it appears to be sharp enough, with a good focal range and it's super light.

      • TED also has the Details about Canon EOS M10 + 15-45mm & 22mm Kit for $800, that'll make the 22mm at $200. Not sure it's worth it or not?

I couldn't find anyone sell Canon EF-M 22mm f2 STM on ebay, very strange. Searched my self, generally $200 mark anyway.
        Canon EF-M 22mm F/2 STM Lens $139 Shipped @ Kogan once. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/191537

  • If you can afford the extra $150, go the M3. It's an excellent camera: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/257924

    • +1

I am Nikon user, Butt bought M3 with 18-55 kit lens during Dick Smith demise. I end up paying 350 for M3. I can tell you from experience It is a very good small camera, also if you can afford to buy 11-22mm lens excellent quality photos you can expect.

      • -8

why would you say you're a nikon user, no one cares that you're better than them

        • +4

To let people know that I have no canon lens. I can't see anywhere in the post that I have said if I am better or worse than anyone. I can't understand why people like you get angry for no reason. just chill mate.

        • -4

          @imranauz:

lol i am a nikon user, we are better than canon scum

      • M10 + 15-45mm, which extra lens is better, 22mm or 11-22mm or something else? for travel and street shooting in general

    • Has been cheaper.

  • I already have 6D. I got M10 because it is small/very light. It can produce good quality photos and it is so cheap with 15-45mm. If I am doing any serious photography, I would use my 6D :D

  • This or the Sony A5000 for ~$400?

    • If u r in Canon system, then save $100 get M10 bundle.

  • can I claim GST from ebay? thanks.

    • Can't see why not as Ted's is an Australian retailer.

    • +1

Yes, the camera should be sent with Ted's tax invoice (it will be a full price of $549.95 inclusive of gst shown on it)

    • +3

Yes. Both my daughter and I bought the M3 kits during the June eBay special from Ted's. We also bought some extras from Ted's instore (EOS M to EF adapter, battery and bag), and we claimed the GST on everything (eBay and instore) when we left the country on holiday last month. We have also received the cashback weeks ago from Canon.

  • +4

The EOS M bundles back in the day spoiled me. It's still one of my favourite cameras (despite slow focusing). Great Canon colours & my most-used camera. M10 is looking good from where I am sitting, but I should show restraint. Lens on offer here is a tad more pedestrian than EOS M bundles of the past, but you can't have it all. Still a bargain if you can be bothered with all the waiting for cashback.

    • I used to have M1 bundle (18-55mm+22mm+90ex+adaptor). Sold M1+18-55mm for $250 and got this M10 bundle instead. Better camera and better lens.

      • -2

M1 is so much better than m10. For one it has the mic inn which is critical for video IMHO. It also has more control buttons. I would have kept the M1

        • +2

Agree. I sold M1 because of M10's selfie flip screen, faster focus speed and 15-45mm lens. Lol. I don't do video shooting.

        • +1

Sorry but the M10 is better than the original M. Much faster AF and more polished UI and much better versatile and compact lens than the boring standard 18-55mm included with the M/M3. M10 also has a front dial for aperture/shutter control.

        • @Orpheus:

Sorry but the M10 is better than the original M.

          No hotshoe tho :(

  • Sorry bit clueless with cameras but would this be a good camera to travel with?

    • +1

Yes, I got this one mainly for travel as my DSLR canon 6D and its lens are bulky and heavy.

  • 20% ebay discount code ends today

  • Looking for a replacement for our Nikon D5100 DSLR now that we have a child to carry around on holiday, can't see how i can carry both. Is this enough of a size saving? or just go down to a RX100? Obviously would also mean we couldn't use our Nikon lenses though.

    • If your budget is $300 then get the canon M10 bundle. The camera and lens are so small and light. Great for travel. :)

    • For small children, definitely grab the RX100. You will not regret it for the convenience factor alone.

  • +1

Definitely better than a point and shoot. But m3 would be a much better buy.

    • Agreed M3 has more features and extra $150. But I bought M10 because of the 15-45mm lens . M3 comes with 18-55mm which is a little tight for me for travel purposes. I don't need features in M3 (hot shoe etc.) as I already have 6D, so M10 is a good buy.

      • +3

Sorry I'm not too sure on the terminology, but what's the difference between 15-45mm and 18-55mm lenses?

EDIT: I just looked it up, so the shorter focal length = wider pictures.

        • You Can take wider photos with 15mm….just little wider.

    • +1

I splashed out the extra and bought the M3 but they're both great travel cameras for the price.

  • +1

Good price for a small CSC camera.

Do be aware that you're paying what your getting for. Focusing speed tends to be slower compared with Sony A5100.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmvJ6pf1PZg

    • Nothing wrong with the focus on the M3. If I'm shooting sports chances are I'll have a proper SLR with 200mm zoom so practically it makes no difference.

  • +1

For the price of $300 vs $800 sony a5100, Canon wins :)

    • You can get a much, much better refurbished Sony A6000 from Sony Ebay for $503 (after discount). Body only.

      • Just bought the A5000 with lens for $391.

  • Tempted to get this just for the lens! And I'm not even an EOS M user - lol

    • +1

Just get it lol it is so cheap!

      • The last time I followed that advice, I picked up a Nikon V1 for $249… over $1k later purchasing lenses, new camera bags, the flash unit, spare batteries, and new SD cards, I still haven't used the damn thing for a travel replacement for my 600D kit. Granted I haven't been on holidays, I think I better use the V1 a bit more first before buying into another system of lenses.

        • I am a canon user, and I have many canon lenses. This M10 will be my travel camera because my canon 6D is heavy and bulky. Lol it is a good buy if u r in Canon system.

        • @jc89: I do use Canon… DSLR only though. The 15-45mm from this kit won't fit on my 600D, and I wouldn't use the M10 with adapter with my existing line up of EF and EF-S lenses. The lens to body proportion would just be stupid and the M10 would effectively be a "bastardised" 600D in this scenario. If only they made an EF-S 15-45mm, would be a nice light alternative to my 15-85mm.

Despite the smaller sensor size, I have to say that Nikon made a better mirrorless for my needs. V1 has an EVF (not a fan of shooting with just the screen) and the 6.7-13mm and 10-100mm lenses make for a great compact kit. Got a small trip in a few weeks so I'll see how it performs.

        • @Mugsy: agree with u on this. But I need something light and compact for travel. Also I have efm22 and adaptor from my M1. Hopefully cannon will get better, until then I ll use this M10 and then gumtree it later haha

  • Any idea if they allow collection from store? i'm going overseas on Tuesday morning

    • +1

No, only post to address :(

      • +2

Confirmed… called a store manager to ask they said they can't do.
Best they could was take $20 off the price (as opposed to 20% off)… Ummm no deal

        • +1

Only $20 off. No deal haha. Well eBay pays for the 20% discount tho. Even with no TRS still is a good price :)

  • if i purchase this one, that means i still need to spend around $100-$150 for the adapter to use my canon eos ef or efs lens :-(

    • Try gumtree, u maybe able to get at $50

  • +1

Tempted to buy, but I know I have never had an interest in photography. Maybe I say I could learn to reduce the ozbargain buyers guilt lol

    • +4

Just get it :) it is very good price

      • +4

        OK, If you insist haha!

  • i'm in on this one been waiting for a while for a deal like this to come up

    • +1

Me too, glad I did not buy last week when I knew about canon cash back promo.

      • +1

I nearly bought from a harvey norman camera deal recently. I'll try to find a link, the reason I bought this one is it's not big & bulky and is perfect with cool add on features plus its fairly new compared to HN which is from 2014 from memory

  • +1

Can someone help me?? Am I supposed to wait until I get the camera to claim the cash back ? Asking because the cashback form is asking for my serial number ??

    • +1

To my understanding all cash backs are submitted after you receive the product.

      • Seeing as I bought the product online, what qualifies as a receipt ??

    • When you receive the camera from Ted's, there will be Ted's invoice receipt. You need the receipt and serial number to claim cash back. It ll take a few weeks to get money deposited in your bank account.

      • +1

        Thank-you & thanks for the post =D

  • +2

    Bought it!
    Cheers for great deal.

  • Does the camera's built-in Wifi support remote shooting of photos or video with your smart phone?

    • Yes wifi and NFC, use Canon app to remote shoot.

  • +4

And to think this morning I didn't even know I needed an $800 camera. Thanks op . Bought the m3 with the lens kit. Cash rewards, 20%, trs , cash back discounts bring it to about $370.

    • Lol true ozbargainer!

    • Hi Maximum

After 20%off and 200 cashback, the price is around 449. How did you get the price down to $370 by Cash rewards? :) I would like to have one if the price can be lower than $400.

      • +1

        TRS Gst refund of $72.

        • But….. I am not going to oversea recently:(. then It does not work for me

        • +1

@2537535: neither am I but my mum is so I used her eBay and PayPal and bought it under her name.

        • @maximum: No wonder the so good:) Anyway, thanks a lot

        • @maximum: Interesting piece of information you mentioned on GST refunds. Will keep this in mind for future purchases over $300 of small objects like diamond rings. More info at: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Ente/Tour/Are-you-a-traveller

        • @IMFrugl: always a nice bonus to a holiday. You can even claim clothes if you spend enough.

  • +2

    Crappy slow lens.

    • Can always add fast EF and EF-S canon lenses :) $300 for body + a lens is very good price

      • Not much point calling it a compact then.

        • But efm 22 f2 is fast, and I have one :)
