Or with Audible Offer USD159.95/~AUD$210 delivered.

This deal is better than the amazon UK as it comes with an extra controller.

I signed up on audible US and UK and got 10 dollars off at amazon US and UK respectively.

Thanks to thelastnoob for mentioning this in a comment.

This deal is for the night owl 🌚. All will be gone by dawn.

  • Unavailable for Shipping to Australia?

  • This deal is already claimed - sold out already.

  • In Australia, why get this instead of a Fetch TV box (fetch TV more expensive) or Google Nexus Player (Nexus much cheaper)?

Some of the benefits (I have a Nexus player, a Sony Android TV and have a Shield on the way)

      • Wired Ethernet (Without OTG)
      • HDMI 2.0 for 4k @ 60Hz
      • Nvidia GameStream
      • Plex Media Server on-device
      • HD Audio Passthrough in Kodi
  • I was leaning towards Nvidia Shield, albeit with my Sony Android TV, however now I'm going the One S route, the included UHD Bluray seems the winner for me. Will use a Steam Link for emulators too hopefully.

The Nvidia shield seemed to struggle with Gamecube up, which was probably the deal breaker for me.

Really believe Nvidia has to revise the pricing on this with the Xbox One S starting at $299 in the US.

I would imagine most are using Kodi which the xbox one s does not support.

      • Kodi is available on my Android TV, and I do intend on using it, seems I shouldn't buy it for that solely though. Plex seemed buggy when I gave that a go, hence trying Kodi too,

    • They are completely different devices. Good luck finding anything that plays media like the Nvidia Shield, it is the best media playing device out there with bit streaming support for all HD audio.

      • As I said, already have the Android TVs, with VLC, so it doesn't offer a night and day difference, just a smoother interface.

I have never encountered anything I can't play.

If you were adding a Shield to anything but an Android TV I'd be all over it, but given I already have the identical interface, it seems like a lot of money for a slightly snappier feel.

        • So which Android TV device do you have that can play blurays with complete HD audio bitstreaming support, DTS/True-HD/Master Audio and 4K video support? You need to remember everyones requirements are different and your Android TV couldn't hold a candle to this device.

        • @adam149:
A blu-ray player plays blu-rays. I thought that was a given, the Xbox One S happens to be one better and plays 4K Blurays, which a Shield cannot. I have no intention of downloading 4K movies.

A Shield doesn't play Blu-rays. It plays files.

The current Sony Android TVs play all formats I have thrown at them, I don't see the issue. Identical apps and interface.

        • @scuderiarmani: Therefor the shield is a much a better media player. Especially if you have Mkv files with TrueHD/DTS/DTS MA audio that you wish to bitsteam to your sound system. I'm not sure why you would compare the shield (which is a media player with no ability to play physical media) with an Xbox.

        • @scuderiarmani: It is also a better media player than your Android TV Device, I can guarantee that.

        • @adam149:
Because the Shield currently offers nothing that I need to do that I can't do already.

If I download the odd tv episode for the wife, it's a 250mb file, VLC on the TV has no issues with that.

The TV already has Netflix, Stan, Presto, Kodi etc etc available on it. All seem perfectly ok to me.

I still can't see what noticeable benefit I'd get from getting a Shield. Don't get me wrong, I love new toys and all, but I just can't see any point as it stands.

The Xbox comparison is a valid one, it's also a capable media player in its own right, it's being marketed as such, it just is infinitely more capable game wise. And really holds its own when it's as cheap as buying a standalone UHD Blu-ray Player.

        • @adam149: can your Shield play Presto?

        • @atlas: I don't know.

        • @adam149: Sorry I was being cheeky. The answer is no it can't - apparently the app has issues and the Shield is not currently a supported device. Just pointing out that it's not the ultimate solution for everyone.

        • @atlas: Cool. That's prestos issue, not the device.
