Lowest ever price as per Camel. I just bought one, but never used one before. Reviews tend to be mixed with some concerns on reliability. Its 220 volt compatible, so can be used in Australia without issues. Appliances online listed for AU$ 857. So, Amazon deal offers some savings, if you can live with overseas warranty issues (though I read some people got good after sales service from Amazon and some struggled). Only differences with the higher model D80 are color (black), an extra combo brush (for picking up pet hair etc.) and better filters. These can be bought separately and fitted later (if needed at all) for, I reckon, around $50 from eBay. The D85 model comes with couple of extra filters, again, you can buy this for around $5 from eBay. Overall, I would tend to think that D75 represents good value at this price.

  • Is the D75 the best of the neato models?

    • The D series came up late last year and have apparently fixed most of the bugs of previous models. There are D80 and D85 which are higher (and pricier) models. There is also a wifi enabled model called 'connected'. If you have pets, I guess D80/D85 models are better.

Bugs in the old one? Mines still going strong ✌️If it's anything like my old one then grab it as they are the best cleaners on the market

      • I bought my Botvac 85 from them when it first came out. Works great then I got the stuck bumper error which made it pretty much useless.

Luckily I got a new replacement, but i sold it as I was too scared that it'd happen again and I'd have $500 door stop.

Anyone know if they'vE sorted the stuck bumper error out?

        • +1

I got that once now you remind me… Pull off bumper, there is a small piece that pushes against the sensor. I wedge a knife so the small piece of plastic was on one side the rest of the casing on the other. Don't bend it. Just heat it with a hair dryer and it will bend just enough so it doesn't push against the sensor unless the bumper hits something. It's a lot easier than it sounds. Just pull the bumper off and see

  • Would not get anything below the top model from neato

    • Apparently, the main difference between D75 and D80/D85 is the filter and the brush/blade which are both easy to replace/upgrade if needed.

  • I've got a Neato XV-21 from 2 years ago.

Amazon didn't give a care when I started getting an error message after ~4 months. The error message was intermittent, it would stop the vac from working for weeks and eventually months at a time but then it'd work for weeks or months.

It was a battery related error message but it wasn't the battery error message everyone else got that was fixed by replacing the battery. So I wasn't sure if it was worth it to replace the battery (~$100). After it not moving for ~6 months due to the error message I got replacement batteries and that fixed it.

It's a great vac when it's working but these crappy bundled batteries that fail early make me not trust the manufacturer.

    • I am new to robotic vacuums but for this price, I decided to give it a try. I once tried with one from Aldi but returned it on the same day as it was getting stuck and hardly picking any dust. Hopefully, Neato will be better than Aldi.

      • Absolutely it will. Their navigation is great, even on the older XV-21. The suction is decent. You still have to do regular vacuuming occasionally because it's just not that powerful but if you set it going daily it'll keep the place tidier.

You have to make sure the floors are clear and there isn't anything it'll get stuck on/behind which may involve slightly moving desks and chairs and whatnot so it doesn't get wedged between them but that's pretty easy.

The battery issue and lack of support and the fact I had to gamble on the fix because they don't list the error I was getting as one fixed by replacing the battery is my only complaint.

      • Fellow Neato XV-21 owner here, be warned that this specific model is LOUD and to always take that into consideration when you're researching which robot vac to get.

        • It is loud. I used the timer and it would run after I had left for work.

    • Hi, Would you know if the Neato has any issues with cleaning Black patterned or dark surfaces, rugs, carpets etc. I have a LG roboking that goes nuts on my black patterned rug. I think the robots bottom sensors are confusing it with a drop like stairs. Either way it never cleans the rug properly even if you manually try with the remote.

      • +1

From reading customer reviews on Amazon, I did not come across any issues related to dark or patterned surfaces. However, I reckon Neato will also not work very well on thick rugs, carpets etc.

      • I can report that my basic model Roomba stops on my rug with black and red swirls in the pattern. Took me a while to figure out what was happening.

    • I was actually aware of how quickly the battery can die in these, especially if you use it daily when I purchased it. If you look on eBay, there are fair amount of people selling replacement batteries for ~$40 and replacing it isn't too difficult.

      • Any links from good sellers?

neato has the WORST batteries ever… If you have the older model, get the neato lithium battery packs… They're about $120 USD but so worth it…..

  • does it picks up and works well with long hair? few female in the house, u know….

    • I have it for a years, We have 3 women with long hair and its cleaning Amazing

      • Good to know. I also happen to have a woman in my house who likes to shed a lot of hair.

      • Even through the spring/early summer months?

great - what about the Neato unit ?

        • I am hoping the Neato will make my life less hairy. Amazon gave me an estimated delivery date of 22nd July… fingers crossed!

  • Is it as good as roomba?

    • +1

In terms of quality, Roomba is a Kia and this this is a Mercedes

      • +3

So, which one is better…. Kia or Mercedes?

      • +2

Roomba is Kia, repair is cheap, robust, miss spots here and there.
Neato is Mercedes, repair is expensive, better at cleaning, smarter, breaks easily.

  • Hi Everyone I'm looking at this Neato and comparing to a Samsung Powerbot.

Which do you think is better? Stronger suction? More reliable?

Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Owner of previous model. It's amazing on carpet. I had replaced batteries after 18 months. It's not so good on hard floor.

  • Battery dead after one year :(
Haven't got a repayment battery yet as ts quite expansive :(

  • How to get delivered to Aus? Vendor doesn't seem do international shipping?
