    • Yep. $399 used to be a deal on the vanilla V6 up until a few months ago, when the regular price seems to have plummeted.

    • Actually, the standard price is $599, it just happened to have been $399 for the past month or so for EOFYS.

    • pay with Woolworth gift card with 5% off the gift card.

      or

      6% off via cashrewards.

Although you can stack this one with 10% off vouchers from Entertainment Book, whereas you won't get as much with the other places.

(Well unless you managed to snag 8% off vouchers for Big W AND somehow manage to buy GG or JB vouchers with them. Otherwise there's 5% with Wish gift vouchers…)

My Dyson DC10 crapped itself after 3 years. Big $$$ down the drain. Won't touch Dyson again.

Question, what vacuum have you replaced it with? and how did it crap itself?

      • A Black & Decker hand held. The problem involved the trigger mechanism. Apparently a common issue with that model.

        • I recommend trying again on the V6 models, even at least the DC45. They have improved it since then.

        • There's a pretty simple fix involving using a cable tie to keep the battery from moving and losing contact with its… well, contacts. Definitely a bad design, but luckily an easy fix.

I'm in the market. Our dc05 failed after 10 plus years. My partner bought it second hand.

    • You sure it was a DC10? I don't recall this model and sounds very old?

If it was a very early edition of the DC45 they did have an issue with the removable battery loosing contact at times whilst in use… I took mine to Dyson service centre as it was just out of warranty and they offered me an out of warranty replacement unit with no further warranty added but it's been working very well for well over a year now not a single issue!

Might be worth a call to the Dyson service centre as if it's a known design/contact issue they sure they might be able to offer a solution but if it's going on 4 years they might offer a discounted repair cost perhaps..etc.? I've been very impressed with Dyson service and support (I've used them twice on a different item and they make things super simple and easy to deal with I've found)

Good luck and hope you manage to get it sorted as I find them a great, quick to use unit that I use daily with our bird that seems to think seeds look better outside of the cage :-)

  • so confused, buy dyson v6 at Good Guys selling for $397 now or wait to drop to AUD 320 again…please advise me.

    • There's another eBay 20% off, so maybe check that first?

Also, the new V8 is out in US, so will probably start seeing more deals around the older model too…

      I'd wait.

  • Be careful if you plan to buy the mini motorised head for the V6 Standard. I just tried to attach it to find it doesn't fit. I ordered it after reading it would fit the V6 Standard. Either there are two versions of this attachment or they changed it.

The link used to order was: http://shop.dyson.com.au/spare-parts/motorised-head-917096-0…

There are several variations of the mini motorised tool.

The two mini motorised tools that are currently listed online (ie. Part Numbers 917096-06 & 924027-04) are not the parts that you want to convert your V6 Standard into a V6 Animal.

The correct part number is 962748-01 and it currently costs $60.01 delivered. It is the same one used for the DC58 & DC59 Animal versions.

      http://www.dyson.co.uk/spares/m/motorised-head-handheld/mini…

To order this part you must order it over the telephone via the Dyson AU helpline: 1800 239 766.

Don't worry as I had no problem purchasing it over the telephone, although I may have just been lucky ie. YMMV.

In order to save time though, you may want to register your V6 machine online prior to calling them so that they already have your details and mailing address etc. in their system.

  • Confusing as others had linked to the page for the $55 one and said it's compatible. I emailed Dyson to return it explaining it doesn't fit so will wait and see. Thanks for the explanation and correct link.
