Had a look this morning. They are paper thin, not good quality
More like kwality?
Hard cases are a pain as you need the space to open them to put stuff in them. Ever try to open a hard case in a small car boot to put a few thing in and it just dont work.
I need a cheap carry-on suitcase with wheels that is light. Any suggestions apart from ebay/gumtree. Prefer brand new.
Look at the bag stores Victoria Station, they have good, light and cheap one.
We got a carry on 2.1 kg and 15 year warranty for under a hundred, prob 12 months ago. Been on many trips and still perfect.15 year warranty for under $100 sounds good.
Link please? thanks.
We bought it in store, it's a retail chain so go and check them out its not the same but similar to this http://www.victoriastation.com.au/w1/i1317261
They have a heap of different types.
I bought two of these today as carry-on for a upcoming trip (the cheapo AirAsiaX fares to KL I also found out about from OzBargain!).
They are good for the price. Plus they have a 3-year warranty - if I get 3 years worth of travel out of it that'll be well worth it… :-)
The only problem is you get 7KG of carry on and these bags weigh nearly half that leaving you 4KG which seems ok until you start filling up the bag. Depends on the airline though, recently we flew all over the place on Cebu and they didn't really care in the slightest, but Jetstar on the other hand wouldn't accept 400gms over.
Yep, they use up more than half the standard carry-on baggage allowance of most airlines.
You might want to check the dimensions too.We got a set for Christmas a couple of years ago. We've only used the small one for our toddler's stuff and we ended up putting it in the hold cos the wheels took it over the allowed dimensions!
These are too heavy for carry on. Lighter the better
This set from eBay is just as good if not better. Plus you get another bag. $105 total. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/111402899825
Got the bi-directional suitcase straps for $8 this morning. Definitely recommend this. Fitted my largest suitcase with length to spare.
It is all about the weight. Even high quality ones break after a while, so I now believe just buy the lightest.
Besides Jetstar and Tiger, is it common for other airlines to weigh carry on? In my experience, not really unless it really looks overweight
Ryanair in Europe are notorious for it. Easyjet too.
55cm case weighs 3kg.
Although it looks good, if you're buying for carry on, its a bit heavy for some
