Just came across it while booking my flight.
Starting late July to September… a few mid week flights are going for 51AUD…
mostly mon-tue-wed flights, but it's only the one way from chch to syd.
i guess the flight to CHCH isn't that cheap.. but you could buy the single ticket now and
see if they have another sale for the trip over to NZ later in the month.
Would be great for Skiers i guess. (thats my reason for going)

Not that I'm aware, only Aukland and Christchurch.
And better for what exactly? It really depends on what your going to New Zealand for. If you intend to go to Queenstown for the snow season, then yes it's better to fly straight there.
