Mine seems like it's really well designed (ordered one a few weeks back for ~$12), the side pins both have springs behind them to push them out, ensuring they (should) fit all sockets. The contact pins are pushed out easily 5mm, a total of around 1cm+. Pin on the end is about the same. Haven't tried it in many vechiles yet (just the one so far), though I don't see how that problem would happen. Do you have problems with any other accessories?
i seems to always got problem with USB charger. bought from ebay for $1-2 none of them working (dont make contact, or keep losing contact). Btw it works well with BlackVue dashcam charger.
The solution is simply to fit a weaker spring into the "nose" of the plug. That way, it's not attempting to push itself out of the socket.
You can get weaker springs from other dead devices. Also, an old biro spring can sometimes work.
Disassembly is sometimes required, but often you can hook the spring out to replace it.
It was $3 at Harvey Norman…
Also there is the BW-C6 for anyone who doesn't need 4x USB ports. This one is also QC2.0, smaller in size and has a metal housing. Good price on the BW-C5 but the USB ports look a bit cramped.
Ports are a little close together on the 4port. It's nothing problematic (all USB cords still work), though it requires you to plug the two middle ports in first then the outer two, otherwise it gets a little tricky. To avoid this I simply have two 2m cords plugged into the middle ports permanently (routed to the back seats of the car) with the outer two ports left free for the front passenger and driver.
Size wise there's a bit of a difference in length (the 4port sticks out a fair bit), it does look a little out-of-place in some cars. Works better in cars that have a socket inbetween the front seats, rather than in the middle of the dashboard. See image here for an example of what I mean (note how it doesn't look too out of place in this configuration). Works best in cars which have the socket in a storage compartment in the center of the two front seats, especially when it's closable with cable routing options.
How long does delivery normally take to metro areas?
Got mine in around 3 weeks (~15 business days) to a regional town, so I assume 2-3 weeks. It really depends though, with free postage you could get it in just over a week, other times 3-4+ weeks.
Bought two blitzwolf micro USB to usb type c converters. Both have problems constantly lose contact and stop charging. Need to push harder or unplug replug. Both of them so conclusion was poor design. The USB cable I bought was OK. Delivery took about 3 weeks
Get one just for in case.
Bought one. They shipped it to somewhere in the USA. Submitted a support ticket a week back, haven't heard back from them.
They haven't replied… but when I look up the tracking code again, they are now sending it back from the USA to Australia. Odd that they didn't get in touch to say that.
my car ciggie socket seems like never gets enough contact with the plug, often lose the power. looks like the sides of the plug are never effective at keeping the plug pressed in well enough. I bought monster iCarCharger, and still get the same disconnection issue.
anyone else got the same problem (mitsubishi lancer)
