365 Games/OzGameShop - 10% off Everything, Pandemic Board Game - $42.25AU

1031
SAVE

EDIT: 365games have now changed to not allow the voucher on their site if shipping to an AU address. Coupon works fine on OGS still. Sorry all the game links are 365, and the prices might be slightly different. Please check whether OGS with voucher or 365 without is a better price

10% off everything at www.365games.co.uk and www.ozgameshop.com

This deal is best used on 365games, as the Brexit has plunged the British pound to low levels against the AUD. 365games also charges no shipping, while OGS charges $2 below a $50 purchase.

It flows on from this deal here
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/254529
but the voucher just adds to a good situation.

Video game wise I'm not sure on any great bargains, but will list a few board games here that I know I love, and are at great prices.

Pandemic - $42.25AU - BGG
Five Tribes - $56AU - BGG - 10% off does not apply
Ticket to Ride Europe - $44AU - BGG
Patchwork - $32.60AU - BGG
Mysterium - $44AU - BGG
Quadropolis - $53.75AU - BGG
Lanterns - $35.80AU - BGG
Camel Up - $32.60AU - BGG
Codenames - $26.10AU - BGG

If you are interested in starting out with modern board gaming, both Pandemic and Ticket to Ride Europe are great places to start. Both play well with a wide range of player counts, and should be able to be played with only a 10-15 minute explanation.

For checking board game prices, there are two sites to use.
Board Game Shopper} and [Board Game Price Checker (http://georgina.org/boardgames/)
If you use both of these it does cover most sites that will get you a best price. I think Dungeon Crawl is on neither and they can be the best at times.

Finally best value is using a credit/debit card with no international transaction fees, such as 28 degrees or similar.

Everyone please feel free to list other great deals in the comments, for console and PC etc and I will update the main post.

Excludes - all other offers, pre-orders and consoles.

God damn it, I just spent AUD$200 there about 1 hour ago. On the plus side, 5 board games incoming! And cheaper than AUS prices.

    • +3

They probably haven't sent them yet. Cancel and reorder.

    • +3

if you can't cancel the order, maybe just contact the company - they should be able to do something.

      • +4

I sent them an email. Hopefully they can give me some credit towards another game. Moar games!

  • +1

Just brought Catan and Dominion from there yesterday too. Waiting for them to get Zombicide Black Plague back in stock.

    • +1

      I love both those games

  • +1

this is seriously good price. I bought Camel Up last year from Amazon for AUD$47 :|

  • +1

Does ozgameshop use USD or AUD? I know it says Oz, but there's no .au in the url.

    • +2

AUD. But the games do mostly ship from the UK.

      • +1

        Thanks.

      • +1

So do they charge in AUD but you still have to pay an international transaction fee?

        • +1

          No fee

      • +2

But they normally arrive faster than anything posted locally these days. Usually takes a week for me

  • +1

Great description and great deal, +1 from me

  • +1

I also just bought Mysterium and some Dixit expansions from them yesterday! Oh well. Can just buy more!

  • +1

Boardgame noob here. Anyone got a good recommendation for me?

I'm a fan of the original Pandemic, but I'm not 100% sold on getting any of the expansions just yet. They don't look like they add a lot of value to the game.

    • +1

I've got On the Brink and In The Lab and enjoy both. I think ItL is better as it adds a new way to cure the diseases, but neither are required.

Are you looking for a step up in difficulty, more co-op, 2 player?

      • +1

Always thought of board games as something that requires 3+ people. (Apart from the chess-like vs eachother games..)
Would love to play one with my gf. Can you please recommend some 2 player games?

        • +2

For 2 players as an intro i'd go with Patchwork for your shorter game, and maybe TtR Nordic as your slightly longer. Nordic only plays up to 3 though, so not as useful. But the map is much tighter and the Nordic countries are special to us.

Pandemic is always a winner as an intro, as most people have never played a co-operative board game.

If you get addicted as I did a few years ago, i think you're next step for most people would be castles of burgundy.

        • +1

@kulprit: Thanks heaps!! Will check those out now

        • +2

Are there any themes that you like?

I have quite a bit of fun playing Ascension with my significant other. We recently got Magnum Opus on sale from Good Games for $28 and that was pretty fun too. (Both are deckbuilding games.) Lords of Waterdeep is fun with two players too.

Ticket to Ride is good if you're into trains/like the destinations. It's nice, but I find I rarely get it out.

          I don't know, I think I'm the minority but I don't like Pandemic. ^^"

        • @jennkei: Thanks guys! Bought Pandemic and Ascension. As for the preferences I am a fan of Fantasy theme and deckbuilding style, but my gf is new to deckbuilding and seems to be bit hesitant. Well we'll give it a try :)

      • +1

I'm looking for either more co-op or competitive. Ideally 3+ players.

        Difficulty-wise doesn't really matter.

        • +1

If 3+ but just stepping up from Pandemic, 7 wonders is a great choice. The iconicography can be a bit to learn, but card drafting is an interesting mechanic that people would not have tried before. Still gets played plenty at my groups. At home I sold my copy as there are plenty of people with it, and 7 Wonders Duel has replaced it at home for me.

        • +1

Settlers of Catan or Ticket to Ride are both fun as well.

        • +1

Have a look at Flashpoint, it's a co op firefighting game, also made by ZMan games brand.

    • +1

Get Pandemic Legacy if you can since you are a fan of Pandemic.

      • +1

I did consider that, but it's a little expensive for my budget. For that price, you can get 2 board games.

        • +1

yes, but it worths every cent and easily has 20 hours of fun, and since it requires 4 committing players as a team, the price would be reduced by 4 times if you share with 3 others.

    • +1

King of Tokyo gets a lot of use in my house :)

  • +1

shame they dont have Rise of the Tomb Raider =(

  • +1

the 10% off doesn't seen to apply to five tribes

    • +1

It doesn't either. Sorry about that. I guess its excluded cos its on special offer. Even without 10% you might find its still the cheapest.
I will remove from the main post though. Thanks

  • +1

For heavier games, both Twilight Struggle and Archipelago seem to be pretty decent prices.. Ones like Kemet and the new Dead of Winter expansion look OK too, but there might be more scope if the pound drops further

  • +1

I just bought a game yesterday but it wouldn't process my Citibank credit card so had to pay by paypal

  • +1

    Kemet doesn't ship to Aust
    Takenoko seems pretty cheap

    • I have never seen something not ship before. Pretty big box?

      • Azif: Would you like to buy my copy? I played it once and really didn't like it, lol.

kulprit: Hm, it's about average-sized. Smaller than Temple of Elemental Evil..that one has a huge box.

        • I'd be interested in Kemet, if you're looking to sell it

        • @inasero: Alas, you're in Melbourne, not Sydney. I don't imagine Auspost will be cheap, probably best to see if someone could pick up first.

  • +3

Some great gateway games (in addition to the excellent list you've posted already) I highly recommend are Takenoko, Splendor, 7 Wonders, Small World, Carcassonne and Dominion

And of course, you can't go past the boardgamegeek website for game reviews, ratings and discussion

    • Agree with most of them for sure. Own or have owned all of them. Only still have Takenoko and Carcassonne. Dominion and Splendor I didn't like. 7 Wonders was replaced by Duel for me (i play mostly 2 player) and Small World just got not enough play. I play mostly medium-heavy dry euro's, but all of these listed a great.

      • What Medium-Heavy Euro's do you recommend? Oddly I haven't played Agricola yet but Le Havre was fantastic, and it gets boring playing the same gateway games after a while so I'm always up for recommendations

        • My top 3 games are La Granja, Five Tribes and Castles of Burgundy. None are on the heavy side at all, definitely medium. Bit of a Feld fan overall.
Concordia, The Voyages of Marco Polo, Grand Austria Hotel and Mombasa are also getting a bit of play.

Really to say I play heavy euros is a bit of a lie I guess. I'm not playing Kanban, The Gallerist or Food Chain Magnate. Not that I'm not interested, but the audience for these are small, and purchasing a game that takes 3 hours means it doesn't get played nearly enough. Especially when I already have too many.

        • I can second Castles of Burgundy. They have Istanbul at a good price, 2014 Kennerspiel winner, maybe more towards middle weight. Depends on what you categorise as medium to heavy.

  • +1

Oh geez, glad i didn't put my order through last night. It was 3am and i said to myself that is sleep on it.

  • awesome.
I knew there was a reason i didn't purchase anything on the weekend.

  • Noob question, whats the difference between 365 & Ozgameshop?

    • +1

Pricing and the lack of shipping costs on 365games.

Before the drop in the pound, it is always worth checking both places. I have bought things on OGS that were cheaper than 365. And sometimes you can only use the code once. But use it twice if once on each site.

  • Been uhming and arring over For Sale and Spyfall. But with 10% tipped the scale. Thanks!

  • Jamaica seems like a good deal, and such a price difference with OzgameShop!

  • When is this pounding of the pound supposed to take effect?

  • +2

Seems like Camel Up has gone up in price…. also Ticket to Ride Europe is not longer in stock but you can get the original Ticket to Ride for a few pounds more.

  • So is a card like citi bank plus the best for buying things in different currencies? I think my nab debit card charges a conversion fee.

    • If you purchase from Ozgameshop its all in AUD already so no conversion fees. 365 & Ozgameshop are exactly the same except one's tailored for aussies

      • I typically use my nab account for ozgameshop purchases but on 365 games a citibank would be better?

  • Loving these Brexit prices

  • +1

Taking into account the player points it made more sense for me to go with ozgameshop since it was only $1 more expensive. Thanks for the deal. :)

  • I'm a board game newbie. Can someone please recommended me one or Ticket to Ride or Ticket to Ride Europe? Is one better than the other?

    • +3

TTR:EU is considered to be a little more balanced for more than 2 players.

    • +1

They are both good. If you're a newbie and playing with other newbies, I'd go with TTR (USA), but if you were more interested in the cities of Europe is only a little more to learn. In either case there are map expansions that can be added to either game.

  • Well I had Ticket To Ride Europe in my cart last night but didn't checkout. Suprised to see still in cart, so used code today and purchased. Hopefully they still find some stock for me. Thanks Op.

  • +2

Great price for Roll for the Galaxy ($60) made me pull the trigger! I'd also like to give another endorsement to Codenames, one of my favourite games ever: Quick to teach and play, extremely clever and funny, and a rare example of a game that works equally well with non-gamers and gamers alike.

  • +2

Great deals! I'd buy codenames but it's only ~$2 more at gamesmen at the moment. I feel that getting local stock is more worth it than waiting ages until it arrives from the UK.

    • +1

If you have a local games store, always worth checking there first.

  • In case it helps anyone …

I purchased Pandemic from 365games at &25.99 with SAVE discount through Paypal.

    Aust cost came to $44.73

IMO the pound could do with a further pounding,

  • Good prices, I finally got Pandemic!

Ticket To Ride Map Collection Volume 1 Team Asia & Legendary Asia $37.84
Twilight Struggle The Cold War 1945-1989 Deluxe Edition $71.25
    Pandemic 2013 Board Game $44.72

My Visa didn't work in the SAGE payment system, so I had to go through Paypal's marginally more expensive exchange rates (Paypal 0.523 vs Visa 0.532).

    • +1

Nice haul. This isn't to rub it in at all and wouldn't have saved you any more than 2 or 3 dollars but just for future reference.

I still use PayPal when using my 28 degrees card and not the sites payment processor, you just turn off the currency conversion within PayPal. Next time after you've picked PayPal and logged in, in the page before you click buy it has the card you will use and the price. You can then turn off the conversion and be billed in whatever the website cart said. Then you card will do the conversion when it comes through.

  • Actually, looks like a bit of a dodgy sale, or like the old dick smith/kogan ebay discounts.

Since the weekend, they've given a 10% sale. But have increased prices by >20%!

I had some items in my cart, Camel up has gone from GBP19.99 to 24.99. Mombasa has gone from 27.99 to 33.99.

    • I saw the mombasa increase (was actually before the sale). They've always been dodgy like this, but not always in relation to a sale.

I have connected them and called them out. I have previously purchased an item that said last one in stock. After I did, not only were there more, but it decreased in price. And I mean instantaneously.

They say that they have multiple suppliers and each stock level is based on that. When something goes out of stock it is based on a supplier, and they may already have another lined up.

For mombasa (which I have already, and friend purchased yesterday at the lower price your said), after his purchase it definitely said the last one in stock thing. So maybe a different supplier more. Shitty I know, and not valid to me but whatever.

  • I seem to get a message that says "This voucher is not available in your country!"
    Anybody else have this issue?

    • They've nixed the voucher for people outside of the UK. I'm in chat with an unhelpful CSR who is essentially telling me "bad luck", despite the 10% off being advertised all over their site. I'd contact UK trading standards, but I don't care enough, so I'll just take my business elsewhere. Book Depository is often cheaper then Xbite (365/OGS) anyway - even got boardgames and related stuff.

    • And this might be the end of their stores for me. Maybe a VPN, but probably just based on shipping address

  • 10% SALE code no longer valid for Australia says the store rep :-(

    • Voucher no longer valid. Frustrating but saves me $$$.

      • Amusingly, they sent out the email pimping the sale on 365 to me about 3 hours ago. Code still doesn't work, though.

  • Ah missed it!

  • I don't understand the pound thing being cheaper than OzGameShop. I just took Overwatch on there for £45.99 and the google currency converter says I will pay $82.74 which is very expensive.

Edit: I just checked OzGameShop and it turns out it will cost $82 anyway. I guess OzGameShop really isn't what it used to be like when I used to buy all my games from them.

    • It was cheaper a couple of days ago, straight after the decision, but see my comment above that they increased prices by >20% since then.

  • Looks like I got lucky in doing the transaction last night. I was going to leave it until this morning.

  • Thanks got 7 Wonders for around $48 which is a bargain

  • Doh procrastination killed the deals for me!

  • This voucher is not available in your country! I'm in Sydney…. well, might just wait for next time.

  • +1

The voucher works on ozgameshop.com - prices shown are in A$, and I think they've updated many of the prices so that the prices are sometimes actually better than on 365games.

    • All of the stuff I was interested in is still significantly higher priced on OGS - more expensive on OGS with coupon than on 365 without. You might have gotten lucky.

  • +1

And don't forget to look at the Milsims board games sale. Smaller selection, but better prices than ozgameshop, and an Australian company.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/254225

    • +1

New owner is a top bloke too. He should have a grand opening soon

  • The original post should be updated to reflect that 365games are not allowing coupons as of today only ozgameshop which really sucks

  • I wanted the game fuse but it's out of stock everywhere

  • +5

Hey guys, I managed to get the coupon code to work on 365games:

    • Change my address under 'My Account' to be in the UK (You also need to list postcode, I used B15 2LG
    • Now fill up your basket and proceed to the cart screen, enter the code 'SAVE' with your UK address selected for shipping. The code will apply successfully.
    • Click 'Buy Now', the page will navigate to a payment screen.
    • Navigate away from this screen and don't commit payment.
    • Now your order is listed under 'My Orders' at the top of the screen and categorized as 'Pending Payment'.
    • Click 'My Orders' and bring up the pending payment order. On the confirmation page change your address to your Australian address and voila! Continue to checkout!

This method creates a 'Billing Address' in the UK which satisfies the check for using the code and the last step simply changes the delivery address.

A note: They may just tell me to F off once they look at my order but as of right now, its 'Payment Received'. Use at own risk.

    • Nice job.

    • Did you manage to get it shipped?

      • Yup it was marked as 'shipped' last night.

        • Just ordered mine. Status showing as being picked. Hope they will send it to the correct address. Thanks.

        • @clothoo: did you get charged £3 pound shipping per item?

        • @geox124:
No, free shipping. I followed @Stormzors's method. Now I got an email saying it's shipped. And the address is my AU address. Happy days.
