Ratcheting Clamp Sets (4x Small/Medium Bar Clamps or 2x Large Bar Clamps) $9.99 @ ALDI Starting 25/06

491

Some people treat clamps as some ozbargainers treat eneloops. I've got a lot, some from sales here for the Bunnings Irwin brand and these are less than half the price of the Irwin clamps when they are on super sale. Getting 4x ratcheting bar clamps for $10 is a pretty stellar deal IMO.

    Can never have enough clamps

  • Nice!

  • Bought a set of the 4 pcs last time and 3 out of the 4 just slip after a couple months of light usage. Very annoying…never again.

    • Can you say it is what you have pay for? did you bring it back for refund?

      • +2

Nah it was outside of the 60 day return period. Will just wait for the next deal on irwin quick grips. Got a small pair of those that were abused, rusted from weather and still work well.

        • So Irwin is the stuff when it comes to clamps?

        • -4

You have 1 year warranty on everything in Australia not just 60 days.

        • @LoveBargain15: I bet I'll need a receipt though right?

        • @Davros:
Receipt is needed no matter it is 60 days or 1 year warranty. right?
or you can have a bank record is OK under Australia Law.

        • @LoveBargain15: yes whilst true, what I wanted was working clamps and as these were special buys, aldi no longer stocked them when mine failed. Best I could hope for was to get a $10 refund.
Whilst I'm not rich (hence why I'm here) for the hassle at this price, I consider it lesson learnt. Call it pay to play….

        • @huythanhv2: irwin grips have better weight ratings for how much they can hold. Whilst they cost more than double this deal when on special, they just seem to work well and more importantly last. I'm sure there's more premium quick clamp brands out there but for amateur diy stuff irwin will work just fine. I'm sure even some trades would use their clamps.

        • @LoveBargain15:
If it's clearly something that they supplied, a business doesn't have to insist on a proof of purchase, but if they do, any reasonable proof will do. e.g. as you say a bank record from your Wave and Save card, a photocopy of the receipt, or even a social media post of you saying: "Here I am with my shiny new Thing(tm) from Place(tm)"

          @LoveBargain15:

You have 1 year warranty on everything in Australia not just 60 days.

Utter bollocks, warranty length as defined by law depends on the product, purpose and price and can start at zero days.

        • yeah like lifetime …… it's not your lifetime…. it's what they deem would be the lifetime of the product eg Teflon frypan ….. 3 yrs, 5 yrs ….. varies by brand and model.

@LoveBargain15: You do NOT have a 1 year warranty on everything in Australia. That is a blatant misrepresentation of the truth. Under the ACL, all goods sold in Australia carried an IMPLIED WARRANTY. The length of that implied warranty is based on a number of factors - namely price, types of goods etc. $2.50 clamps will be extremely unlikely to carry a 1 year warranty.

meh, I buy all my tools from Sydney Tools or Bunnings and these types of clamps are never good. Had 3 sets break on me after a month or two

    • Are they identical product as posted in this deal?

      • Yep exactly the same…2 big and 2 small clamps…same design as per product pics

        • Thanks for that. I'll think twice.

  • +2

    This deal is tight!

    • +4

      Until they are not.
As a poster said above, these arent worth the money, not to me at least.

      • 60 day money back guarantee and 1 year warranty.

They are $2.50 per clamp, if you get 1 job out of them then they pay for themselves. Then if they stop working as 1 user posted then you can take them back within a year to get a full refund.

I'd rather have champs that just work. The amount it costs me in time to take then back and get a refund, then to bunnings to get proper champs is not worth the hassle.

        • @masuta:
I prefer to have good tools as well and try to avoid cheap ones. Bought a set of drill saw bits from Aldi only to have them snap on the first attempt to drill. Try sawing but it just a waste of time so decided to try to refund. Lost the receipt but good thing I keep everything the box, wrapper etc neatly and Aldi allow a me refund without receipt.

  • How much were the Irwin ones when they were on here?

  • +2

Yay! We have Aldi in WA now!

  • +2

    Clamping pressure: 600Nm
    Contact pressure: approx. 18kg

Can anyone make sense of these specifications?

We have units of torque and then mass quoted for pressure. o_0

  • Reviews are mixed for these. Most people say great. And some say Ratsh!t.

  • I have some small/medium Irwin ones, but wouldn't mind some larger ones.

I'm not sure about the quality, but will buy them due to the price.

  • +2

These clamps are rubbish, half of mine have broken and the other half feel like they're about to break.

The crescent connect clamps are not much better, damn things won't tighten up and are useless.

  • +2

I have bought these before, twice… All broken. They have steel bars, but plastic mechanics and housing.

If you need a clamp, spend extra on Irwin! You will save money by not making multiple trips back to Aldi to get replacements.

  • I have 2 larger clamps from them a few years back and they just work.
Feel very plasticy trigger wise but bar and lock mechanism is metal which is good for some light duty work.

Would definitely get this set if it's the same workzone stuff.

  • I read the headline as Ratchet & Clank for some reason…

  • I agree with the above comments, as I've found that all these cheap Chinese copies of Irwin clamps are pretty much rubbish.

I don't own the Aldi ones, but they are the same appearance and design as the ones that I own. They cannot grip tightly since the plastic head and jaws deforms, and the gripping mechanism tends to fail after a while.

Even the Irwins are pretty weak - it you want to tightly clamp things tightly then a set of bar clamps is better.

  • I think some people would find a use for them depending on the type of stuff they do ….. just like some of those entry level cordless drills etc……. suits a purpose. won't be as nice as my Erwin or dawn clamps but might suit eh task when not too much pressure is needed…… must be better then tape or using a rope and twisting it.

  • I picked up some Irwin 300mm heavy duty quickgrips at Bunnings. 272kg grip rating. These things are solid! Bought them on sale of course ($50 a pair, was just over a week ago though)

I need some smaller clamps now, but not sure I could go back to Aldi ones.
