Great phone for what it is, had mine running with regular use for 3days. Only problem was google apps issues not working properly but should be fixed with a new ROM. Also terrible camera quality. First impression review whrl.pl/ReDdAw

I don't understand the latest bunch of eGlobal deal posts. These phones can be found much cheaper elsewhere with expedited shipping. This one is A$305 on aliexpress from an authorised xiaomi seller.

    • Link pls

Loads for usd225 (converts to A$305 using Google converter). I'm on my phone so I apologise if I've got it wrong

        • What combination are you doing to get that?

        • +1

@ajh: Ah, I tried again. This 32g one comes up with USD $246 https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32675121295.html#autostay

Before I didn't see 16g/32g and jumped the gun

That's A$335 still cheaper than eglobal

@PBG: eglobal does have express shipping included in the price though. This would take ~2 months to get here.

So you're right not to downvote or upvote. It's not a good deal but it's not a bad one either.

  • Pretty exhaustive 28 minute review with feature timestamps in the description here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8RBH2MqS68

  • Cheaper here: https://www.android-enjoyed.com/xiaomi-mi-max-dual-32gb-3g-g… It was $327 yesterday. And if you sign up to their newsletter you get $5 off.

Not sure how their warranty compares to eGlobal though.

    • That doesn't include postage though . It was $24 for me for express, so around the same price ($330+$24)

      • ^^ + Android Enjoyed has a bad rap in general due to warranty , customer service , yada yada yada

        • ^^ + Android Enjoyed eGlobal has a bad rap in general due to warranty , customer service , yada yada yada

          Fixed that for you :)

Just look at the comments in the most recent deal posted for eGlobal. Horrible after sales service as well. Not defending Android Enjoyed, just saying that eGlobal is not necessarily better.

        • @PBG:
I've had good experiences with eGlobal, the problem is they just take so long to get things resolved. Took me 8 weeks to sort out warranty. In the end they couldn't fix the phone so they just posted me another phone with equal value (since the model I had was discontinued).

        • @PBG: Oh that's different to my experience , bough a Redmi note 3 pro earlier and the service was prompt , but have to admit that I did not contact them post delivery .. touch wood everything works fine :)

        • [@PBG]
same as azukay, I bought from them many times and had all positive experience. Good price, fast shipping.

Warranty does take a long time (about 1 to 2 months) but they do put in the effort to sort things out. I also had my Camera replaced for free.

  • This looks to be a beast of a phone - basically a supersized Redmi Note 3 pro with even MORE battery life. Camera isn't great in low light though.
Wonder if it will get the same custom ROM support that the RN3P has

Wow.. Finally a reasonable price on these.
I loved my Sony Xperia Ultra. Big is better.
I will be considering this phone when the 64Gig SD652 version is down around this price.

  • What do people think of these Chinese resellers?
I find that in terms of reliability:
eGlobal and DWI>Geekbuying, BangGood, Everbuying, AliExpress, Gearbest, TaoBao>Android Enjoyed (how do they get their devices so cheap)
That said it also happens that my list typically goes from most expensive to cheapest…
Maybe it's because of my preference of eGlobal's supply and how several of my friends have bought devices there?

    • That sounds about right. Though re: Aliexpress - some sellers are top notch (like Top-One) and some are dodgy as. Also, Gearbest got banned for being dodge.

      • Did they change their name to Gearworst?

    • Plenty of horror stories about eGlobal, search OzBargain threads. Not on delivery but on after sales service / returns.

In my opinion they are all about as reliable as each other, the postal companies (China Post & Singapore Post) are not bulletproof and that probably is most of the problem. After sales service on any of them will be difficult, but hey we pay 1/4 the price of comparable flagships so it comes with the territory. I'm happy to save the money upfront and deal with problems later on if they arise but I would never push them on my friends/family who would prefer to walk into a store should their product become faulty.

In terms of ranking, I would put Aliexpress first because they have AliPay buyer protection so there is zero financial risk. Plus the sellers on Aliexpress I've never had a problem with ~10 disputes I've made (from 200+ purchases)

    • from personal experience

      eGlobal and DWI = good.
      GearBest = bad.

      I haven't tried other sellers so I don't know.

    • Even though GearBest's relationship with OzB isn't the best, they appear quite reliable when seeing how many China tablets Chris from TechTablets buys from them.
Also forgot about Kogan and Kogan's D1ck, my experience with Kogan has been positive so far, they replaced my faulty on arrival Z3 rather quickly and the post sales support was relatively easy going.
