MEL to LHR from $938 Inc. Taxes Return with Royal Brunei

600

Advertised price is from $999 return including taxes, however a quick check with Skyscanner shows that this fare is available from BestJet from $937.72. Dates seem to be readily available from what I have seen. I have flown with Royal Brunei many times to Asia in business class, and this seems like an outstanding deal to London Heathrow for a full service airline.

This promotion has come up a few times (such as https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/247170) but this is a new sales period.

Main things to note:
• Short stops in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei (2.5hr) and in Dubai, UAE (2.5hr)
• Airline does not serve alcohol, although I have heard you may be able to BYO subject to transport safety limits (I don't drink so have never tested this)

TRAVEL PERIODS
27 September to 30 November 2016 and 23 January to 27 March 2017

I went to London with Royal Brunei last year and it was perfectly fine. You can take duty free on the flight and drink it on the plane no problem, they will also supply you with unlimited soft drink if you wish to mix your drink of choice. Hope this helps.

Good deal especially as it includes tax return… my accountant charges way more than that:)

Pricebeat with Flight Centre for a dollar less, plus peace of mind.

    • What sort of peace of mind does Flight Centre give over bestjet? Also if you book online with Flight Centre there's a $39 charge per person? Edit: and if you booked over the phone, do they count the payment as 'online'? It's a pretty good deal but not sure if I will just hold out for something that leaves from Sydney rather than worry about getting to Melbourne as well, and having two stop overs.

Well, Flight Centre is an Australian company (ABN). So you've got a lot of consumer protections if you book with an Australian travel agent.

Of course they won't charge you $39 on top. A price beat is a price beat. $1 less all in than what you would have paid.

        • Just a note. Flight Centre only price matches Australian registered businesses (which Bestjet is).

And yes, if not booking directly with an airline, price matching is still the way to go. A human might pick up an obvious error and is much more satisfying to complain to when things go wrong. Bestjet et al is really just a form of gambling.

        • @peterpeterpumpkin: actually, that's what their policy says. In practice, they don't really care. If the consultant you have does care, just hang up and call again. Seriously. Never had issues with it.

        • @Bronwyn Bishop: Thanks for the tip.

Last year I booked the exact same flight with Bestjet the day before my flight, for an urgent trip. Money was taken off my account, and I didn't receive an itinerary..
Ofcourse, good luck trying to speak with a human from Bestjet, especially out of office hours.
I had two options. 1- book ANOTHER flight with a reputable agent, or through their website, potentially throwing 1500 dollars in the bin.. 2- Turn up to the airport the next day and deal with the fallout.
I opted for option two, turned up to the airport after spending all morning trying to contact Bestjet, sending emails etc…
As expected, I wasn't booked in, and got a generic email from Bestjet apologising for being unable to confirm my seating plus a generic blurb about how booking systems work (as if I care), and they promptly refunded my money to their credit.
At the airport, I ended up buying an on the spot ticket through Flight Center for 500 dollars more while checkin was open..
If I was wiser, I would've called up Flight Center asking them to price match Bestjet without all that hassle..
Having said that, I did book with Bestjet previously with no issues, but after learning of Flight Center's willingness to price beat, plus the excellent service you get in store, it's hard to look back..

Absolutely. Plus flight centre has a 24x7 call centre in Brisbane. What more could you ask for?

What more could you ask for?

          I dunno… a helicopter?

I love royal Brunei amazing airline

  • What LHR stands for ? What didn't list the full name ?

    • London Heathrow

      • Thanks :)

If you phone Royal Brunei at Melbourne they are most helpful. Would be able to tell you if travel agent had booked flight for you. I use them as their change of flight fees are less than travel agent. I find service and spaciousness on dreamliner is very good. Often have opportunity to stretch out over 3 seats in economy.
Have booked combined economy to LHR and business fare home.Seems only office does this as travel agents say it can't be done according to friend who tried it. Maybe your TA will be more accommodating!

  • When i put in my dates it comes up as AUD1,725.66

    • +4

I see, that price appears to be $1725.16 more than you were expecting

  • Be aware that there are two stops, one in Brunei (a bit of a fascist Islamic state) at a really crappy terminal, and the other in Dubai, when I flew with them to LHR there was no mention of the Dubai stop over.

  • STA have dropped their prices constituting a new deal:
