  • Dang. Their sales never include Sunday the 21st of August. Jerks. :P

Got my hopes up. Nice find though anyway.

  • Been waiting for this, cheers OP!

    RIP Kimbo

  • Avalon too far, cheaper to pay $10 extra and go tullamarine.

Having said that, i have never seen Melbourne Tulla —> Hobart below $40 before, i wonder why could be high taxes

    • Jetstar used to have some ~$40 fares from Tulla but not now they've started flying from Avalon. If you don't mind Tiger the fares are always around $40 and I find the timing of 6pm Friday and return late Sunday to be better than Jetstar.

      • But parking is killer at avalon, and it's cheaper to fly from Melbourne and park than fly from avalon

        • Oh definitely! I've flown from Avalon once and that will be the last time. I just mean it's a shame Jetstar has started AVV-HBA flights as they don't have MEL-HBA ones as cheap any more.

Doesn't look advertised, but Tigerair are doing $55 for SYD-BNE from next Tuesday up till 31st August vs lowest of $59 on Jetstar. Price beat brings it down to $49.50.

    • No idea why Tiger airways charge for lap infants

      • Yikes, I don't have kids but first time I've seen that. Is it new? It makes a little sense that it costs money but $30 is a decent whack and sure to turn families away even after they start paying for children on other airlines.

        • Rest of other carriers they don't charge for infants

I think someone mentioned on an earlier deal that infants fly free on Jetstar's price beat, worth checking out.

Yes, that is correct, I've used price beat many times and always take my son who is less than 2.

  • Does anyone know how often they do sales at these prices?

I'm looking to book for mid August - Perth to Melbourne return - any airline is fine.

Will there be plenty of opportunities to book similar priced airfares between now and then, or is this likely to be the only chance I'll get?

Going by the last few years of regularly flying Jetstar on a particular route I'm pretty sure this will be your last chance. Prices seem to be 'normal' at about 6 months or more before the flight then they slowly go up as the seats fill and as time marches on but then they have a crazy sale about 2 months before the flight date in an attempt to fill the flight and then once the sale has ended they sell off the remaining few seats for crazy high prices. I recommend you jump in now!
