  • Don't include CR in the discount, as tracking is unreliable with expensive purchases and therefore not guaranteed.

    • +2

Well I bought a $3500 camera off ebay last time sales was around and got my CR money no issue…

  • Product rep?

    • Can you point me to definition of product rep? Unsure what the tag means.thanks.

      • Think it's exactly what it suggests. The OP is probably a rep/employee at canon, but it is a 'product rep' rather than a 'store rep' as he is posting a Good Guys deal.

        • A product rep that bought the product he is representing.. doubt it. In the penalty box now for some reason lol..

    http://snapsort.com/cameras/Canon-EOS-M3-specs

Seems like an ok deal for someone looking for a camera with an aps sensor that will stick with the kit lens

  • Great price. I got the Canon EOS-M late last year on sale from HN for about $220 for the kit, and that model is already 3 years old, whereas this is the latest one with lots of improvement.

If I hadn't just purchased a proper Canon 7D (body only) for $500 on Gumtree then I would be all over this.

    • sounds like a stolen good! who would sell Canon 7D for $500!!
      I'm reporting to police

      • must be from DickSmith

      • +1

It was a student, who listed it $650 negotiable. I said what's the best price you can do it for and he dropped it to $500 straight away, haha.

The bloody thing was filthy though, it took me over an hour to clean it, and the flash wouldn't even open until I pried it open and sprayed WD-40 in the joints. Plus I have no idea what the shutter count it.

It works fine though and it's already paid for itself as I am doing paid gigs with it.

      • this is standard price for a second hand 7d

        • Yep there's a mark 2 out..

How does this compare to Song A6000?

    • +3

A6000 is a much better camera in every aspect. A6000 has better AF, EVF, video and sensor …

      • Sorry it what is AF and EVF?

        • +2

          Hello 99altezza,

          AF: Autofocus
          EVF: Electronic Viewfinder

          Hope that helps.

      • +1

Ok, for this price. Is it a good deal or should I wait for A6000

        • +2

the A5100 is still far better than this.

        • Wait for the a6000 deal now that a6300 is out, we will see deals come out soon.

        • +1

          @nadan:
$503 for a factory second from Sony after the 20% off - I think that's a pretty good deal already.

        • @Dice:
Agreed, that is a good price and a much better camera.

        • @Dice: You got me excited so I checked. Sadly, that price is for the body only. The SEL1650 will cost an extra $279~.

        • @JaxSantiago: on Friday I Managed to grab a6000 out on display behind the glass cupboard and 3 new lenses selp1650, sel55210, sel50f18 for 1000. Even when comparing prices of gray import lenses, lens price adds up to be 850, and for Australian stock even more. I reckon this was a bargain. When I checked thebshutter actuation count in only had 85, and that was from me taking photos. I didnt post the bargain due to limited stock.

        • -1

          @JaxSantiago:

You can find the 1650 lens for about 100-150 second hand on gumtree.

        • @ankor: show me. I have never seen the 1650 power zoom for that price. Not even the sel1855 can be found at that price.

        • @zealmax:

Some random is selling it for $130 here. Even if someone's asking price is 199 or whatever, you can use your Ozbargain skills to try and get it down to $150.

          http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/melville/lenses/sony-16-50mm-…

        • @ankor: that really is a good price. Too bad I dont live in wa.

        • @zealmax:

Add $13.90 or whatever and you have your postage. Add an extra $2-$4 bucks and you get insured postage that protects you and the seller.
Gumtree/ebay/Fred Miranda/r/photomarket/facebook camera gear buy and sell is seriously a waiting game for the right gear at the right price.
I find it the most cost effective way to get sony glass because it's ridiculously expensive.

I've seen the following on gumtree/ebay:
          - sony 35mm: approx $380-$480
          - sony 50mm: approx $220-$280
          - 1670z for $800-$900 / rrp $1300!!
          - 18105G for $500-$700

You can also wait for eBay sales, or Paypal discounts and buy some lenses from places like e-infinity.
Locally, the 18105G from Digitalcamerawarehouse and the 50mm f/1.8 from DigiDirect appear to be the cheapest local retailers for me (I'm in Brisbane).
I can't find any cheap 1670z lenses though.

          Hope that helps :)

      • At least the canon has proper lossless compressed raw files ;)

      • but canon has 22mm f/2.

        • And also EF-M 11-22mm!Sure A6000 is a great camera, but Canon's EF-M lens is cheaper.

        • @maxdba: that is true. Sony lenses are enexpensive.

  • +1

Do I have to C&C to get the 20% off or can I get it delivered? as there seems to be no stock anywhere…or does it not qualify for cashback from canon if it gets delivered instead?

  • Great little Mirrorless, got mine last year. Add a 22mm pancake and you are good to do some serious photography.

  • It will be $315.5 after TRS if you're travelling soon. THAT is a serious bargain price.

  • Thanks just bought. Ripper price after cashback + TRS.

    • i just bought too! btw, whats TRS?

        Tourist Refund Scheme

Have the order under the traveller's name, can be claimed max 90 days after purchase when departing OZ.

        • +1

since when has it been changed to 90 days?

        • I think it should be 60 days. And not australia citizen

        • @Louis89: Aussies can also claim.

        • @willbaba:

Must be in my dream :)

I do apologize for the mistake.

Claim the GST portion of the purchase (Purchase price/11) if purchased in the 60 days before you leave Australia. The tax invoice must also show your name and address only for tax invoices over $1,000.

        https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Ente/Tour/Are-you-a-traveller

  • how does this compare to canon 700D?

    • eosm3 has more advanced internals.

700d has a proper viewfinder, better AF and actually is properly compatible with EF and EF-S lenses without stuffing around with the lens adapter.

  • EOS m10 single lens kit works out to around $300 as well after 20% and the 150 cash back. But for 85 more the m3 is a better camera

    • The M10 comes with the better lens. The M3 would be noticeably 'better' if it had a built in EVF to differentiate it.

      • M3 ergonomics is far better than the m10.

        • 24mp on the m3 vs 18mp on the m10, the m3 screen folds down or up instead of just up, no hotshoe on the m10 etc.

        • @DJR9000: The hotshoe is the only real advantage. Even then you cant attach the EVF and a flash at the same time. IQ will be the same as they are both APS-C sensors. You can put the camera upside down to get high angle shots. Since the m3 doesnt have a built in EVF or even better battery life, the smaller and lighter form factor of the m10 makes more sense, plus the smaller collapsible lens has a much more useful 24mm vs 28mm at the wide end. And its cheaper.

    • You have to consider that there's a chance you won't be able to claim the rebate from Canon:
'If you purchase an EOS M3, EOS M10 or standard mirrorless kit between 2nd June 2016 and 28th August 2016 (from an authorised Canon Australia retailer or the Canon Australia Online Store) you may be eligible for cash back.'
I tried doing a search on their dealer finder, but couldn't work out what postcode TGG use.
So maybe it will qualify or maybe it won't - depends on if Canon Au has them as an 'authorised Canon Australia retailer' or not.
If it weren't for that issue I'd be all over this deal.

      • It's the good guys. Its not like they import grey stock. The dealer finder shows my local good guys store (e.g. 2750 penrith). Check with the good guys or canon if you really want to be sure but nobody has posted up that Canon has denied cashback claims from TGG ebay purchases before as far as i can recall

        • I know that.
However camera manufacturers often have different relationships with mass-market, specialty and professional retailers, hence my reservation on this.
As it turns out, a bit more hunting and I found this https://www.canon.com.au/EOSMCashback/retailers
          So I have bought one.

  • Hi, I'm looking to get into photography/photo editing. Is this an OK entry level camera or should I look elsewhere? Would getting a decent mid-range DSLR to start out off gumtree or something be an ok idea also?

    • +2

Yes it is an OK entry level camera. If you are unsure as to your photography future, then I would definitely get this deal. You get a lot of camera bang for buck brand new.

This gear is more than sufficient for beginners to get a hold of the concepts of photography and produce decent images.

      • I had the same question and thanks for answering it :)

    • I've had my first 'good' camera for almost 4 years now. I only really use it when travelling now. At the start, it doesn't seem to matter how good your camera is, but you'll definitely want a camera with a 4/3 or aps sensor at least (this is aps). I'm still learning a lot every time I take photos and edit them. Finally looking to buy a new lens or a new camera now. Have fun!

    • CNET reviews says sluggish performance.. any comments on that ?

      • I say sluggish performance too. It's the most frustrating part of the camera for me. The shot-to-shot time is incredibly slow - it's like there's no buffer.

But if you're not shooting moving things, or are patient, it should be fine.

  • +1

The 70D with kit lens is under 1K after the 20%. That is a bargain.

    Canon EOS M3

SHOULD I BUY THE CANON EOS M3?

The Canon EOS M3 has its charms. Its comfortable shell and strong manual controls should sit well with the keen photographer crowd, and it does take good photos. It may not be the right choice for all that many, but it’s not a flat-out bad choice for the majority.

So what’s wrong? The Canon EOS M3 just hasn’t progressed as much as rivals have, and it really shows. The lens selection is limited, the kit lens bulky, the EOS M3 itself is all-round kinda slow and dynamic range at lower ISOs is pretty disappointing. The roll-call of bad stuff is that bit too long to let the EOS M3 get close to a recommendation.

    • +1

I've got the M3, had the original M, and have used a few Sony NEX bodies. I find the Sony bodies much nicer to use. I find the shot-to-shot lag on the M3 really bad. AF is slow too. I love my full sized canon dslr, so was really disappointed with the M3.

It will work fine for people who don't care about those aspects though.

  • +3

Pity, it appears to be out of stock everywhere around Sydney

  • -1

How come this shitty Canon mirrorless camera gets so many up votes? Buy the Sony refurb A6000 kit for a bit more than $500, guys.

    • It is a good camera for the money you pay.
      $381.60 after $200 Cashback vs > $500.
Do not forget that you can get a EF-S adapter and use "normal" Canon lenses with this camera. 100% compatibility.
Yes as most mirrorless cameras it may be not the best choice for sports and wild life photography.
Otherwise it is very capable camera.

    • Where can you get this?

  • +1
    • as above, 70D is cheaper with similar photo quality, and qualifies for trs discount for a single traveller

      • The 80D has noticeably better Dynamic Range than most other Canon cameras (including the 70D).

  • "This Item Is Out of Stock"

    :(

    • It seems to go in and out of stock. It's back in stock at the moment.

    • It looks like out of stock now :-(

      • Back in stock now!!!

  • I had been waiting for a camera deal. Thanks OP.

  • Guys what's a good camera in general canon of Nikon under 1500 mark

    • canon 6d or nikon d610

      • Thankyou for the reply I will look into these :)

  • +1

Something to be careful of. I just clicked to buy one, all good, it added $8 shipping, took off the 20% (came down to about $589, and as I clicked Pay Now in PayPal, a message popped up, and I saw that the transaction had gone through at full price of $735 - no discount applied.

I have already emailed Good Guys to ask what happened, but be careful if you buy one that the same does not happen to you.

    • +1

You will see full transaction in Paypal but if you click to see the detail you will see that your card is only charged the 80% and the rest 20% is paid by Paypal.

      • My bad. It was my 4th transaction - I had forgotten about 1, so they removed the discount when it went through, so I am cancelling the transaction.

  • Does anyone know where to get a cheap lens for this? Either the 55-200 one that canon makes or the tamron 18-200 lens? Any recommendations on which to get?

    • I'd look at Gumtree or similar. A lot people get the entry level lenses when they buy their cameras then upgrade to more expensive lenses.

    • If you buy the EF to EOSM adapter (not the over priced Canon one or the dumb metal lump cheapies) like http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/252393246749?_trksid=p2055119.m14… you can use Canon EF & EF-S Lenses.
If you don't own EF or EF-S lenses then get a good 2nd hand lens that you can use until you're ready to spill a lot more cash for an EOS-M lens.

  • Back in stock again!!

    • It says removed due to no stock when I look.

  • Not much is said of this cameras video shooting quality, must not be that good.

  • +1
  • Received sales order from the local good guys store:
Order Type:- DELIVERY - YOUR ORDER IS OUT OF STOCK AND WILL PLACE ON ORDER….ETA IS 14 WORKING DAYS….WILL NOTIFY IF STOCK IS UNAVAILABLE FROM SUPPLIER….05/06
Looks like a waiting game and they relisted it being in stock on ebay 🤔

  • yeah, seems like all stock is coming from canon, fingers crossed they can supply it…otherwise, no deal!

  • Yes just ordered one also. Probably got some more stock in.

  • out of stock again

  • relisted again if anyone is interested: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Good-Guys-50031370-NEW-Good-G…
Title is wrong with no description, but price and images match up.

  • Mine was ordered from Canon and received it last week.

I am very impressed by the quality of pictures coming out of this little beast, even with the included kit lens. The colors are typical Canon - nice and natural. And AF is pretty damn fast from my limited testing.

I'm looking to pickup the pancake 22mm during the EOFY sales, which should make this an excellent compact portrait shooter with decent lowlight capability.
