By the way, the Xiaomi's 5000mah capacity is rated at 3.7v, so it will only supply 3700mah over USB (5v). This is the same for the above Blitzwolf which is actually only 2500mah at 5v.

Your phone battery is 3.7v as well, meaning comparing the two mAh amounts directly is more accurate when both are listed in this way.
Edit: for higher accuracy factor in effiencies. Xiaomis are around 85-90% efficient and phone charge controllers around 90%. To factor this in, subtract 20-25% from the mAh rating of the powerbank.

I'm not sure what your point is. The USB output is 5.1v and the voltage of the phone's battery is irrelevant. See here for more info.
To digress a bit, know that the 16,000mAh is the capacity at 3.75V; hence, the power bank has a total energy of 60,000mWh (milliwatt-hour) or 60Wh (watt-hour). But then, the output is done over 5.1V. At this voltage, the capacity is actually about 11,765mAh. And after factoring in the 90 to 93% conversion efficiency that Xiaomi claims (this refers more to the internal circuit board), we get a range (10,588 to 10,941mAh) that’s close to this 10,800mAh number. Note too that this is possible under a 1A current. Both the total output capacity and circuit conversion efficiency will be lower during 2.1A fast charging, due to more energy lost.
The above is why Xiaomi says the power bank is able to charge the 3,100mAh Redmi Note 4G smartphone 3.5 times (3,100mAh x 3.5 = 10,850mAh), instead of 5 times, because it’s simply not a case of 16,000mAh divided by 3,100mAh. Not using the Redmi Note? Other numbers include the ability to fully recharge the iPhone 6 about 5 times, and the iPad Mini 2.5 times. Of course, these are under ideal circumstances. Your mileage is likely going to vary once you factor in other variables like your mobile device’s internal circuitry and the battery’s health.
Power stored at 3.7V in powerbank > upped to 5v (well, 5.1) (80-93% efficiency) > transferred to phone (80-90% efficiency (with a good cable) > reduced down to charging voltage (80-90%+ efficiency)
In a perfect world (efficiency aside), a 10000mAh power bank will charge a 2500mAh phone 4 times. The difference we see in real-world situations are due to efficiency, NOT due to voltage differences. There's the efficiency of your powerbank (93% with Xiaomis, so -7%), the cable you're using (usually 80-90%, so -10-20%) and your phones internal charging controller (hard to tell, but I'd assume ~85%, so -15%). In total this is around 32-42%+ lost due to efficiency of upstepping/downstepping voltage and voltage loss over longer lengths of cables.
16000mAh - 32% = 10880mAh.
10880mAh / 3100mAh = 3.51 charges (rounded).
Makes sense?
Sorry if my explanations aren't the best… Overall calculating it as if your phones battery is 5v would kind of work (this results in calculating in 26% loss, then another 10% if you add in efficiency curves ontop of that amount) though it's not actually what's happening in the real world - it just simply gives similar figures.

USB doesn't supply 3.7v though, it provides 5.1v. Plug an in-line voltage reader into a USB port and connect your phone to it and see for yourself. As I said, the voltage of the battery is irrelevant.

Now the 3.7V is important as upping 3.7v to 5v results in a slight loss in power (which is the efficiency rating Xiaomi proves, 90-93%). This means though you have 59.2wH of stored power (3.7x16Ah), once it's converted to 5v you're working with around 55wH (-7%). Once this 55wH leaves the powerbank, around 10% of the voltage is loss in the cable between the powerbank and your phone (due to voltage drops). You're now left with around 50wH entering your phone. This 50wH is dropped down to 3.7v (well, ~4.1v, charging voltage for a 3.7v battery). This process is also inefficient and results in a loss of around 15%. Once that's finished, you're left with around 42.5wH of power entering your phone battery.
Using the Xiaomi phone as an example:
3.1A * 3.7v = 11.5wH
42.5 / 11.5 = ~3.7 charges.
I'm not sure if this way of explaining things makes it simpler, though hopefully it does!
Overall the ~26% difference isn't anything to do with 3.7/5v (despite the fact that's around 26%), rather it's to do with the efficency of charging controllers inside phones/devices and natural powerloss over the length of the cable.

Great price and little unit. I have this and the 10k,and this can fit into the front or back jeans pocket with the phone charging without being too large or bulky.
The 10k unit is great but not practical when carrying in small pockets.

Generic OEM/ODM power banks. Without opening one up we have no idea if they're using genuine LG, Panasonic or Samsung battery cells. Xiaomi use genuine.
