Ah it's hard to explain. Basically, I found that the 4 distorts at high levels and the build quality is inferior to the 3.
I'm not audiophile so it's hard to explain the differences in sound but there's just something about the sound of the 4 that I don't like.
I mostly listen to Electronica, Rock and Metal.

how great are these earphones compared to the apple ones that come bundled with the iphone 5s?
I bought from another store and comes in a retail package. The sound quality is okay, but not great. Rating 6/10.
What are you comparing them to? They've got a great rating by that joker guy on headfi.
Retail packaging makes me think you got fakes.
