Another day, another deal on MicroSD cards. 64GB and 128GB are cheaper than TA's last deal from PC Byte!

Edit: User Fiximol has noted that the 128GB card is available for $59.99 here, so stick to the 32GB and 64GB unless you really want an excuse to use that coupon code.

Would you rather pay $2 and have it in the next week or earlier OR wait a few months til another sale?

      • If I need now yes I will pay extra but I have 32gb in my mobile still. Just sometimes want to copy the whole season of TV shows into but has no space

        • understandable, im waiting for 128GB to drop under $35!

        • @fchis:

That's nothing. I'm waiting for the new 256GB EVO+ card to drop below $100, and it isn't even available yet.

          @cainn:

That's nothing, I'm waiting for 1TB of Quantum storage to drop below $50, and it isn't even invented yet.

    • why not waiting for EVO+ for $20, while you at it ;)

With the amount of bogus microSD cards in the online market, one can only pray they don't end up with one.

Samsung AU currently sells the EVO 64GB MicrSD for $99.95, whilst Harvey Norman has it on SALE for $68.

So when I see $19.00-$26.00 on ebay with Free Shipping, something needs to ring the alarms else there's a serious problem somewhere

    • It's futu I trust them but yes please everyone run software testing and report back later.

And thanks for confirming Australia get the shittty prices by corporations.

      Cursing corporations!

If you have a look at the prices sold at large retailers like Amazon, you will see that these micro SD prices are quite appropriate, and that it is the RRP which is inappropriate.

      • Amazon? Do you even know what Amazon is? If I have a business called Charles Dickwit IT Supplies, I can also sell on Amazon too. They can only do so much in terms of eliminating duds and fakes, (yes more regulated than eBay) but the only way around it is to purchase stuff that's sold & fulfilled by Amazon. Most of that stuff doesn't get shipped to AU because of our import & tax red tape.

@Fiximol: You skipped my last sentence, here it is for you:

Most of that stuff doesn't get shipped to AU because of our import & tax red tape.

          EDIT:

You also have some serious comprehension issues, at no point did I say Amazon themselves don't sell MicroSD cards, the basic principle was that just because Amazon sells them for $7 or $20 doesn't mean you buy them with the intent that they're all genuine. As I outlined, they need to be sold by and fulfilled by Amazon which is usually very limited IT

          @frostman:

I am not claiming that everything you buy online, from ebay or Amazon or DickwitIT Supplies is genuine. But in this case, when we are specifically talking about Samsung Evo MicroSD cards, there is sufficient external price signals both overseas (from Amazon) and (within Australia) [http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=Samsung+evo+micro+sd+64&spos=1] to indicate that a price range in the $20s do not denote a counterfeit, which is what you are implying in the original post. Market forces and seller reputation is really important for IT sellers, and they aren't going to jeopardise them by selling counterfeit micro SD cards.

However, if you are not questioning whether the fact that the Micro SD cards are genuine or not and was making a comment on the Australian Tax in B&M stores, then I apologise and you are right that I misinterpreted what you are saying.

  • What would be the best 128 gb microSD for a phone (galaxy s7)? TIA

    • +5

Personally, for recent flagship phones capable of 4k, I would not use any card which is not U3 (i.e. minimum write speed 30mb/s) but that's a personal choice, which limits my choices to 64gb in most cases, but I am willing to trade max capacity that for a quality card.

If you must have a 128gb card, there are really only a few (reasonably priced) options for now. The Samsung Evo (in this thread), Evo + (higher read speed compared to the normal evo) or the Sandisk Ultra. They are pretty similar and it is just going to be down to price. It is probably best to shop around, however (you are an ozbargainer, right?), as a quick ebay search showed that another power seller is selling the Evo 128gbmicro SD with adaptor for $60 and ships from sydney

      • Thanks for the reply!

So when you say U3, these cards have "Reading speed: 48 MB/s (UHS - I interface) Class 10".

What would these cards fall under?

As for the 64gb card, which card would you personally buy?

        Thanks!

        • +3

The Evo card here is a U1, minimum write speed of 10mb/s. You can tell from that logo printed next to the "micro SD" on the actual card itself. (looks like a Number inside a U shaped bowl)

I personally own sandisk extreme and sandisk extreme pro. However there are plenty of options at the 64gb range. Samsung pro and pro + are pretty much the equivalent, and lexar also has their own, and Patriot or PNY if you import from the US. I think the sandisk extreme (such as this)is probably the best value if you want Australian stock. If you are looking for a bargain then may be wait for the Amazon sales, as PNY U3 64gb cards can drop to around $20 USD when on sale.

        • Thanks, you helped me out a lot :)

  • Is this a more reputable store than Shopping Square, Everbuying and PC Byte?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/250300

  • Argh just bought a 64gb evo plus from pc byte for $29 earlier in the week.
    Good deal.

  • I bought a few things from them, $349 was the highest price. After sale service is good, they upgraded my device for free.

  • +3

Doesn't PC Byte have the 32GB at $12.95 as their usual price?

  • There's so many fake SD cards on ebay, ive fallen victim to 2 different sellers.
Nothing an ebay dispute didn't fix however.

  • I guess the Samsung 32GB Evo doesn't come with an adapter right?
