Carn the Mighty Hawks !!
You are particularly cantankerous today jv
No, they are just a club with disregard to family values…
I sense bitter tears from JV, you don't happen to support Carlton do you?
Most other clubs place a penalty on the player when they do something this serious, but not Hawthorn…
When police go to the trouble to charge someone, there would have some pretty good evidence.
"The leadership group has already met on this matter and has decided that no sanction will be applied at this stage."
That shows you the type of club they are…
It's a matter for the courts. No doubt there would be sanctions should he be found guilty.
It's a matter for the courts.
Yep, but most other clubs also sanction the player until the court case is over…
should he be found guilty.
Hodge was found guilty and the club did nothing
eg.
When Marley Williams was charged, he was not allowed to play or train until after the court case…
http://www.watoday.com.au/wa-news/afl-player-marley-williams…
That is what a 'family' club would do….
@jv: Pretty sure you know nothing about the facts. I'm sure he will be dealt with in due course
I'm sure he will be dealt with in due course
My point is other clubs would have dealt with it now as per my example…
and what about Hodge? Got caught drunk driving and the club did nothing…
@jv: You can't punish someone for something they haven't been found guilty
You can't punish someone for something they haven't been found guilty
Other clubs do…
Also, they have already brought the club and the AFL into disrepute by getting involved in a fight in a nightclub…
and what about Hodge? Got caught drunk driving and the club did nothing…
@jv:
Do you know the facts about what happened?
I know the police have enough evidence to charge him.
No different to the other example I showed you…
@jv:
Hmmm?
HAWTHORN captain Luke Hodge is free to lead his team into the finals next week after the Hawks' leadership group imposed upon him a $5000 fine for drink-driving.
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-09-05/hawks-hand-hodge-fine
Next….
Hmmm?
Other team would have suspended a player for driving over .05
Not a token penalty equivalent to the amount of money he earns in playing 15 minutes of football…
@jv:
and won't take any action when their captain is charged with drunk driving
Hodge was found guilty and the club did nothing
and what about Hodge? Got caught drunk driving and the club did nothing…
Hmmm…?
Oh! …… and:
COLLINGWOOD defender Marley Williams will do community work with the Salvation Army for the next 10 weeks as punishment for his role in a late-night scuffle in his home town of Albany, Western Australia, on December 27.

Oops!
Oops!
look at the date in your link, 2013…
The club also banned him for playing until the court case was over. Unlike Hawthorn who are doing nothing
#fail
@jv:
Hmmmm…… according to the Collingwood website, he played in both the 2013 (gaining a Rising Star nomination), and 2014 seasons.
But I am sure you can provide a link to show where the club suspended him.
And then we can get back to Hodge. :)
He was suspended for months until the trial was completed.
@jv:
Oh!
COLLINGWOOD defender Marley Williams has told the Magpies he doesn’t want to play again until he faces court in Western Australian in April to be sentenced for assault causing grievous bodily harm.
Williams has flown home to Melbourne from the club’s training camp on the Gold Coast, ruling him out of Sunday’s practice match against the Suns at Metricon Stadium.

So the timeline:
So where did this come from………..
When Marley Williams was charged, he was not allowed to play or train until after the court case…
Hmmm..?
He was suspended for months until the trial was completed.
Out for the season (including finals) for drink driving…
http://www.smh.com.au/national/didak-shaw-out-for-season-200…
Hodge, slap on the wrist and a fine equivalent to what he earns in 15 minutes of playing time for the same offence…
@jv:
Ehhh?
Collingwood has suspended Alan Didak and Heath Shaw for the remainder of the 2008 season, including finals, for lying about a drink-drive accident.
Complete comprehension fail, jv.
Time to lose that shovel - you just keep digging yourself deeper. :(
Ehhh?
Yep, Hodge got off with a slap on the wrist for endangering public safety and being a Bloody Idiot according to the TAC
@jv:
jv (aka the Black Knight) …….. bought to OzB direct from Monty Python. :)
Fully agree JV. The 'Good Bloke' excuse isn't good enough, if a Port player did that they'll be crucified!
if a Port player did that they'll be crucified!
pretty much every other club would have taken action except for Hawthorn (and maybe Richmond)
Hawthorn don't give a shit what other clubs do, other clubs give a shit what Hawthorn do.
Probably because they're a shit club.
What about Sydney and Barry hall
@jv:
3
Jv the SJW. Take it to Bigfooty, it's discussed ad nauseum, sounds like you'd fit in well.
Also…3 mate, 3 ! Suck it up…
Carn the Hawks!
4 is better and you're not going to get there this year… :)
Ah so you're a geelong supporter! Still salty about 08? Am I right? I'm right aren't I? Mea hahaha.
@jv:
In another time and world, not comparable and we all know it, and only 6 since!
I admit it must be tough sitting back and watching your club be mismanaged in to oblivion. Was it hard? Is that where the bitterness comes from? You wish your club had the foresight of Hawthorn?
I must admit I do like Ed on the radio though, so he is good at something.
PS: I picked up an extra hat for you, you can wear it around the house, it will just be between you and me, where should I send it?
A bit of crafty sowing and a 2013 can become 2018….
Thanks, needed a hat for keeping my hair from going over my eyes.
a 2013 cap ?
melbourne merger getting close again.
