Ikea - Get Your Meal Price Taken off Your Furniture Purchases

370

I was at Ikea Logan today and saw that from the 4th of May for a week, if you purchase a meal in the restaurant and keep the receipt, your meal purchase price will be subtracted from your purchase price of furniture and homewares. E.g. Spend $3 on a Calzone and get $3 off a chair/candle.

UPDATE
The promotion is valid from Monday 3rd May to Friday 7th May (NSW & VIC), Tuesday 4th to Friday 7th May (QLD) (Closed Monday 3rd due to Labour Day Public Holiday).

You should change your post title. It appears that this is valid in all NSW, VIC and QLD stores, not just Logan. The Logan store is valid only for the 4 days of the week due to the public holiday on Monday:

*Logan store Tuesday 4th - Friday 7th May (closed Monday 3rd May for Labour Day public holiday)

    Further down it says:

    • The promotion is valid from Monday 3rd May to Friday 7th May (NSW & VIC), Tuesday 4th to Friday 7th May (QLD).
    • Valid VIC, NSW & QLD.

They had this before, it was pretty good. Good find.

    • Ok thanks for that, I assumed it would've been everywhere but didn't want to say until sure.

yes They had this before, it was pretty good i grabbed a few sanwiches and drinks to eat later to cover the cost of a bookshelf. Good find. this time ill invite some family and friends so that i can get good chair.

  • Is there a limit to the amount to be subtracted?

    • are you going to shout everyone meatballs before buying your $2000 setting?

  • Is Adelaide included in this promotion.

    • IKEA SA and WA are separate from QLD/NSW/VIC for some reason so it wouldn't surprise me if it isn't.

I remember the +10% giftcard promotion over Christmas 2009 wasn't available for us in Adelaide :(

  • Dang, just went last week. But fortunately I only felt like a coffee at the restaurant, I couldn't have eaten anything… ;)

    • You would have been hungry knowing the food is basically free ; )

      • Fortunately I'd just had a nice lunch at Ocean Seafoods in Drummoyne. Ikea restaurant food isn't that flash (when was the last time you read that Swedish cuisine is world-topping?), but I could be tempted by a desert or two.

  • Doh! (who says Dang anymore greenpossum :P), I was planning to go to Ikea Saturday afternoon.

    • Somebody who doesn't bother watching Simpsons? Or much TV for that matter. :P

Obviously they know they have no problems getting people on weekends so the goal is to drum up some traffic on weekdays.

  • I wont return to Ikea, dont appreciate being tricked into walking through the whole store, just to get out

    • Look for the shortcuts next time - you can cut through most of the store via these.

      • "Let's never speak of the shortcut again" - Homer Simpson

    • Its not that hard to look at signs. I can get into and walk out of the Ikea richmond store in 1minute.

      • +2

I got lost in there once for 3 days because I tried to take shortcuts…

  • and who would be stupid enough to get that chair for over $500 haha!!

  • is there a limit?

  • can i buy $2000 worth of food for charity and get a $2000 piece of furniture 'free' ?

  • Aside from one discount per customer, there isn't a dollar limit set in the terms and conditions.

    Also, take note of this:
The offer does not apply to purchases in the Bistro or Swedish Food Market.

    All the details are here:

  • Good deal, especially when you can buy sandwiches/bottles of water to take home with you.

  • I went last time at Ikea Richmond and it worked out fine. Forced me to buy a few extra goods I didn't want though. All in all, it's a good promotion if you're going to buy something from Ikea anyways!

  • I might now get my new kitchen from Ikea…

How many swedish meatballs can I get for around $4,000 ???

    • I recall that Ikea currently has an offer of a $100 gift card for every $1000 spent. That might be worth more than the meatballs you are able to eat.

      • $400 of meatballs to break even!
        GO FOR IT! :)

Is there anything stopping me from bringing a big storage tub, and ordering 20 servings of the meatball ($8.50 x 20 = $170) to take away? Or ordering say a crate worth of Coke and then go load it up in my truck?

    • Only your pride, csg001, only your pride….

      :D

  • I am curious like csg001, i would be tempted to take a shopping trolley and empty the drink fridge into it, and same with the ice creams, i think they have those last i remember, unless it was cakes. I think IKEA could have left themselves vulnerable to a big haul.

    • I'd say they would not care. The percentage of people who would be willing to do that is very low in my opinion. And you can only get as much value in foodstuffs as you have spent in the store so they may be making at least some profit no matter how much you buy (e.g you buy something for $2000, get $2000 worth of drinks, then if the cost/floor price of the two combined is less than $2000 they've done alright - probably not the case but I doubt it's too far off)

  • Last time they had this my girlfriend and I bought a $50 frypan and used the full value on food and drinks. There was so much wasted food at the end that I felt a bit bad but…. whatever.

  • Have a house warming party there or your wedding banquet at IKEA and you might end up with enough credit to redecorate your whole house with new IKEA furniture!

  • Was in Richmond tonight and made some "extra" food purchases.

I found it funny that they restocked this item today:

PRUTA Food saver, set of 17
    http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/30160964

So take another person that has no shame, stock up on food, and then buy a set or 2 of the Pruta's to store your leftovers in ;)
BTW, theirs heaps of them near the checkouts :D

    • Was there yesterday and saw someone took a box of chocolate… lol… I mean, I took a couple of chocolate bar too, and they're not bad, but a box (of 20 or so)? omg, will need a dentist soon (or we might see someone ebay-ing Ikea chocolate bar soon)

  • This deal is now on in Adelaide IKEA, ends June 11.
