  • Any good vs the Intel 535 Series SSD 480GB $189.50?

    • +1

535 has shitty write speeds in comparison (around half the speed of Sandisk plus), though slightly faster reads.

Personally I'd still go with the Intel due to build quality (Sandisks are plasticy), better power loss protection (according to most reviews/tests), etc. Speed wise, the Intel will still easily hit the 250MB/s mark.. Unless you're copying files off another SSD to it you won't notice a difference.

  • Any international warranty with any of these SSD brands?

    • I think it's a 3 years international warranty.

SanDisk's products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled at your option to a replacement or refund for a major failure. You may also be entitled to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled at SanDisk’s option to have the products repaired or replaced if the products fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

cannot be excluded under Australian Consumee Law

This is referring to consumer law which isn't applicable on international sales, though I assume they will still happily honor it out of good-will.

Edit: in this case it's implied Sandisk offers warranty regardless of country or other factors, though in other cases the whole "cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law" doesn't apply for international sales/stock.

      • Cool. Thanks.

  • hi lyl….I notice you know a lot about SSD…I want a good reliable 60 or 120GB one, just for windows installation …any clues ? thank!

I'd recommend the PNY CS1311. It's a new well-reviewed SSD which is also one of the cheapest you can get. Also unlike some budget SSD's like the Sandisk SSD Plus which has lower write speeds at lower capacities, the PNY is still very fast at 120GB.

  • Would one of these be suitable to replace a standard hard drive in a imac?

    • +2

Suitable as in, would it work? I'll have a look if you tell me the size and year :)

  • Thanks OP! The 480GB are currently £62.49 so ended up getting two for AU$287.80 delivered. Bargain!

  • Are they about to drop new stock or something? So many SSD bargains!

    • I suspect new tech with higher capacities is on the way.

  • $287 including delivery for the 960GB one. Good deal, got one.

I reckon SanDisk is preparing the next generation of their SSD now that the Western Digital acquisition is complete.

  • Getting unable to deliver. Tried on 3 different addresses.
