Optus wireless internet 5Gb $40/month (heavy users)

30

Posted earlier was the Three 1gb/month for $14.95 which is still the best for light users.

However, if you are looking for more download and you have an optus mobile phone already, Optus has just this morning released their new wireless internet plans of which the 5gb $40/month plan is the most attractive. This matches Vodafone's $40/month 5gb plan (and bettered three's 5gb plan).

See http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=853477&p=… for discussion as to the pros and cons of this offer.

  • Hi I've got the Voda plan. So I've noticed some finer points… which new customers should take into consideration:

    1) Voda is actually $1 less at $39/month compared to Optus $40/month.
    2) Also when you sign up with Voda for 24 months you own the modem/pc card outright. With Optus you don't and after 24 months is over you have to pay $5/month for the modem which I think is silly.
    3) I think you have to bundle with an existing service for Optus. Voda you dont have to.

Other than that, I read on Whirlpool that Optus gives you 5 emails I think compared to Vodafone with just 1!

  • Vodafone is $39/month though, whereas Optus is $39.99/month. 24 month contract.

The plan is called 'Yes' Everyday, from the Optus Plan page.

‘yes’ Everyday plan available from 20/12/07 to 15/01/08 unless withdrawn earlier, to new and existing Optus wireless Broadband customers.

Also you need to bundle with another eligible Optus product for 24 months to save $5/month on the USB modem. Therefore it is not as cheap as Vodafone.

  • Yeah this is mainly for people who have an optus mobile and especially those using phones that are capable of working as a modem. You'd be surprised how many models can do this now. One dollar per month isn't worth the hassle of having two providers.

Good on 3 for forcing Optus into this situation :)
