The price of SSD's continues falling, with this 960GB drive now at the lowest euro price according to camelx3. Just a shame the AUD is also continuing to fall, but still a great price compared to local stock. VAT is removed at checkout to bring the final price down.

$7 cheaper than this deal a few days ago

500gb was this price not too long ago.

Seems SanDisk extreme pro 960 gb is also lowest ever @de.camalcamelcamel.com) from Amazon Germany for euro 279 (Inc vat) but lowest aud makes it about 400

      Wot.

    • +5

Well, anyone who is investing in Australia from abroad is actually buying australian dollars to make that investment. Therefore, there is extra demand that is making AUD to go higher.

      Study economics, mate, good stuff.

  • Worth raid 0 ing 2 of these ?

    • +1

The only benefit comes when you're running benchmarks. Real world offers no difference. That said, I have 2 x 240's in raid 0 simply because they were in my drawer doing nothing, and I wanted something big to put some steam games on.

    • Wish I had a spare SATA port for it (already have one of these from a previous deal). Feels like I'm waiting forever for a 2TB SSD at the same cost/GB :-/

      • +1

just buy a sata port card.

        • No free slot either…

          @Jabba the Hutt:

u need a new pc, id also get a ssd external encloser with sata3…

failing that swap out your other harddrive and consolidate with large SSD orother wise.

        • @Jabba the Hutt: Re-route your eSATA port back inside the case or just dangle the SSD out the back. =)

        • @Lukian: Funnily enough, already doing that (6 internal devices connected to 5 internal ports and the rear eSATA). A 2TB SSD is the best fit in my case, but $850ish is the cheapest they've been, vs $550ish for a pair of these. Just taking longer than expected for the gap to narrow.

  • I know there is talk of 4tb shortly. May have something to do with it.

    • hrmmm un sure,…. that would be very large in deed, i though samsung had a 10gb in the works.

anyways, beats my 80gb intel 80gb x-25 for $850 in 2008, but even with out trim its still going strong in my bros pc as the main drive and still performing well!

i might get a few of these to write of some tax around june.

      • how would you claim the SSDs back in tax returns? is it a business expense?

        • There's an accountant AMA… So perhaps ask him/her

        • +3

im an IT contractor, so its my "tools of the trade" … hardware peripherals.

  • I have a silly question….can i make this SSD into a portable drive??

    • +4

Yes buy a 2.5" portable case. Usually around 20-30 for a a decent usb3 one. Something like this: http://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Hard_Drives_&_SSDs/Enclos… but et it from eBay not scorptec :p

      • Why not Scorptec?

        • Well scorptec charge a premium price for most products, including this. Great store, but they charge more than most places if you just want a single part but I have bought my systems there due to the customer service.

        • @Skramit: Ozbargainers just want better prices, and not customer service! :P

    • +1

      Why yes, yes it can.
Any external drive case with a SATA connection.

  • +3

I use the Simplecom 2.5" enclosure. At $9.95 I haven't had any problems thus far
    http://stores.ebay.com.au/Simplecom?rt=nc&_from=R40&_trksid=…

  • Dammit, now I don't know if I want these or the Mushkins…
Maybe I'll buy one of each and force a RAID0

    • I'm willing to bet there's a hell of a lot more reviews for the Ultra II though
And a whole lot of user experience too

      • +1

Yeah, that and we have a SanDisk.Au so we don't need to worry about the warranty stuff as much.

  • Does it come with any warranty?

    • +1

3 years international warranty if i recall correctly. If anything happens, you can just send it off and get it repaird in Sydney.

I looked it up but I can't tell whether you get local or global warranty.

        • +1

Think it's global, found a whirlpool thread where the OP bought from Amazon:

          http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2489423&#…

"This warranty covers only original SanDisk products. To the extent permitted by law, SanDisk reserves the right to decline warranty support to goods not imported through authorized channels."

          But… also on the page:
"Australia consumers only: SanDisk's products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled at your option to a replacement or refund for a major failure. You may also be entitled to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled at SanDisk’s option to have the products repaired or replaced if the products fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure."

          We should be covered.

  • ordered one from Amazon.fr a day ago.. oh well :)

    • With amazon, you may be able to contact their customer service and get it cancelled.

Or possibly get them to price match and refund the difference.

Doesn't hurt to ask - especially if it's only been 1 day.

  • €189 now

    • Has always displayed 189 on the product page, Vat is removed at checkout to bring the final price down.

      • Ah thanks. Noted for future odd region Amazon deals :)
