Lord of the rings Blu Ray Trilogy.

For all 3 Blu Ray movies, plus the extra disk with special features, looks like a pretty good deal.

Please note that this site is a UK site (that delivers to Australia), thus the Blu Ray will be in the UK region. So just make sure your blu ray player can play other regions.

When you make you purchase, use the code "april2" to get a further 2 pounds off it (total cost will be 30 pounds incl Del, which is about $50ish in AUD)

Is it worth waiting until the Extended Editions get released? I've never seen the Extended Editions on DVD — is the extra footage interesting?

    • Yeh I'll wait. The extended editions are the real version of the trilogy. The theatrical editions skipped too much and even Peter Jackson has said that in his mind the extended cuts are canon.

I think you'll find that the books are "Canon"… not the movies.

Sounds interesting, I like those movie tie-in novelisations.

    • Up to you really. I have them on DVD and while they flesh everything out, especially some odd gaps in the movies, they also are extremely long movies. Not that that can really be helped, but they can be a bit tiresome to watch at times if you aren't completely in the mood for it.

Both editions are good for different reasons but.

    • Really depends on how much you want to see Viggo Mortensen sing. I found it a little strange, but I guess it fits better with what JRR wanted. I'm glad none of that Bombadil stuff got in still.

  • I'll wait for extended as well, I sold my extended dvds a while back, cheap though so +

  • Will be holding off till Directors Cut Blu Ray.

  • use April4 for a 4 pound discount.

    • oh wait, it's in pounds lol :P 4 pound discount only valid when you make a purchase over 40 pounds. my bad. but if anyone wants to add stuff to their purchase and ends up being able to use the discount code, then please do so

Keep in mind that the video quality of Fellowship of the Ring is pretty awful at times:
    http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/4505/lotr7bd.png - Blu-ray (23Mbps VC1)
    http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/3821/lotr7tv.png - HDTV (17Mbps MPEG-2)

It's better than DVD, but it should be so much better…

Here's hoping the inevitable EE release will improve on this.

I would rather get it from Amazon UK. It can be had for a similar price and they take off VAT.

    • It works out to be $50.22 (or 29.14 pounds) delivered via Amazon UK.
