you are quite correct. The motorhead is just an additional head attachment. Across the V6 range all the motors/power is exactly the same. the higher cost versions just have additional attachments/heads.
No - the main cleaning head is different too.
The Motorhead comes with a 'direct drive cleaner head', which is slightly different to the standard brushbar Motorhead that you get in all the other models.

I can confirm that the motorhead is different and better from the V6's. Newer brush bar, hair don't get tangled up on it easily unlike the old V6 brushead.
The motorhead 'head' has a more powerful motor driving the brushes than the normal V6 model. So that is one point of difference. It also comes with the smaller mini motorhead — but the Animal version of the V6 also comes with the mini motorhead. I guess if you have carpet around the house, and some pets or women in the house that shed hair, the V6 Motorhead will be better at picking up all the pieces of hair.
It's good that the newly released V8 only has two different models; the V6 is just a mess with the various models around.

I'm pretty sure the only difference between the V6 and the V6 motorhead is the addition of the Mini Motorhead attachment. You can (or at least used to be able to) buy that as a spare part direct from dyson for $60. So the V6 at $319.20 + $60 would be a better option.
