  • is this compatible with the ipad air 2?

    • Does iPad Air 2 have Bluetooth?

      Hint: Yes.

So, it's a keyboard that is compatible with for ANY Bluetooth device.

However, it may not clip onto other devices (ie: be able to be used as a case/cover)..

Thanks captain obvious. Obviously it will connect via bluetooth. Fairly sure my 2 year old cousin could figure that out.

The question I was asking (I thought it was clear.. I guess not) was if the iPad Air 2 could fit in the stand since it's a bit thinner and shorter.

And by the way, it will definitely not fit as a case. If you didn't know already, the iPad Air 2 is a lot smaller than the older iPads. That's like saying that I could use an iphone 6s Plus case for my iphone 6s. It just makes no logical sense at all. So it isn't a 'may', its a will.

Well, lieutenant not-so-obvious… I would never have guessed that was what you were asking.

"Compatible" was the word that threw me.

No, it is not. The "New" iPad they refer to is the iPad 3. Also, the slot for the iPad is too large to sit an Air2 in it. It falls over. I had a Logitech one, very similar design, which now often does double duty as a keyboard for my Mac Mini. It was useless for the Air2 I now have. I bought a Logitech Type+ for that, and its brilliant.

  • the dock seems like it's for 30-pin apple devices not lightning cable ones.

    Terrible

I didn't expect much considering it was so cheap, I did however want at least a single use out of it. It began to type random letter repeatedly and I couldn't get it to stop. Was effectively useless.

    ✘ No,
I do not recommend this product. "

This doesn't sound very good. :O

    • I've found the repeated letter to come from a weak Bluetooth signal for the different keyboards I've used.

      • I hope that was the problem then. I just ordered one. :D

  • Got one.

    It's only $5.. Why not? :)

    • RIP $5…

  • Can confirm that sadly the dock is for 30-pin.
Was hoping for a cheap lightning charger dock :(

Why fret? You can buy them for HALF that price… $5 at Kmart.

Just popped back to post that I checked my local Kmart, and they sell the Lightning Docks in white and black at the same price $5.

      • Cable not included

      • Huh, cable not included but says max in/out is 1a.
        Im confused.
Also does it need to be mfi?

Not sure why that could confuse you. iPhones charge at 1A max, iPads won't fit on that dock.

So 1A is not going to hurt anyone. However, inside the internal wiring is quite thin, but so short that 1A will be perfectly fine.

Also does it need to be mfi?

No, it's just a pass through connector. One lighting socket, one lightning plug and some short cables to connect them. The USB cable needs to contain an MFI chip if you want reliable charging operation.

Anyway, I am simply trying to point out that you can get a lightning dock at plenty of places for less than $10.
