Never believe what retail staff claim, it's their job to BS

    • It is really strange. If paypal are paying the 20% off then aren't TGG actually making money because of it? I got what I needed today from TGG instead of someone else because of the ebay discount.

      • Do you have proof that PayPal is covering the costs for free? How do you know the business agreement between PayPal, eBay and the ebay stores like TGG?

        • -1

Why do we need proof the question is If ebay are giving the 20% off why would TGG be losing out and If TGG are supplying the 20% off why bother agreeing to do it if they are just going to pull stock and not want to sell anything.

        • @kash1: This isnt new. Every time these eBay promotions start, the stores eventually take off lots of items, sometimes as early as the first few hours of when the coupon code is valid.

    • Good Guys staff probably don't get any commission from the sale if you buy from ebay so that might be why the employee was annoyed?

      • Atleast they have jobs for now, who knows what will happen after takeover bid is successful
Commission should be the last thing they should worry about in current retail market

  • Cashreward is a bit of a joke. $3000 purchase not tracked :(

    • +1

Out of interest, when did you make this $3000 purchase?

    • +2

1.35% in itself is bit of a joke. Better off going with with Virgin's Velocity estore for 2 points per $.
6k points almost enough for a SYD-MEL/BNE flight.

      • Yes, I went back to the good old velocity estore this time round after cash back rates dropped significantly across all cashback sites (and I don't trust shopandmint)

    • +1

The higher your purchase price, the less chance it has of tracking.

  • The fridge, washing machine and microwave I added in my cart from The Good Guys store on ebay have disappeared :( Was waiting to go to store today to check them first and then buy online.

Oh well.. does anyone if EOFY sale will be equivalent or better and when is it?

    • Get from Bing Lee eBay.

  • +2

Wow. TGG pulled all their popular stuff
Was about to buy a Kitchenaid, held off till tonight, and now its gone

The God guys arent being very good at all,

    • Yep, I've just been stung by the same thing. Logged on to buy a $1000 dryer (LG Condenser), $325 camera and was going to throw in a $100 shaver for the hell of it. Both the dryer and the camera are "no longer available for sale".

Why the hell would they not want to sell their stock?! I don't get it.

Valuable lesson though. If something is in stock and at a good price at one of these sales, jump on it.

      Good guys…bite me.

    • I don't get why they've done this… eBay are flipping the bill for the discount right? So why on earth would they want to limit their sales.

Bit me too.. had been meaning to checkout all week, then went in today and they were removed damnit.

Wrote to them on eBay but no response.

  • I ordered on the first day of the 20% of sale, and other than having to wait all day for the fridge to get delivered (it arrived at 6.45PM), I'm happy with the service and price (saved $263 from the current list/delivery price) from TGG.

  • WOW,I only just realised what TGG had done after reading the comments here!! Lucky I secured an air con on the first day!!!

  • Decided not to spend any money on this ebay deal. Nothing interesting and nothing worth buying.

    • +4

Thanks for letting us know, I was only just wondering if you were going to get anything.

      • -1

        Have you bought anything?

  • Even TGG has removed many popular things, you might still find same ones with same prices from Bing Lee or Masters.

    • Bing Lee have the Dyson V6 for $399 under this 20% ebay offer but for me it says in-store pickup only.

    • Was keen on one of the DeLonghi coffee machines dont fancy my chances of getting one from masters :P

  • Was considering getting a TV, and now they've pulled ALL TVs from good guys. Can anyone explain while they would do something like this, especially during the weekend of a great sale? They would have lost so much money.

    • probably because all those people walking into TGG stores asking for same discount and pissing the sales reps off

  • Any bargains for fridges/freezer combo?

  • I am trying to buy a washing machine from Bing Lee, and keep getting this message "The address specified in your cart is in a location that doesn't meet the seller's postage requirements." I am in the ACT, it shows as in stock at two ACT stores, but get the same message when trying to purchase from either.

Have tried some other items from Bing Lee and they don't work either.

    Any ideas?

    • Really weird - if I put in a random Sydney address, it will let me add the item and collect it from an ACT store, but not an address from ACT or surrounding areas in NSW…

Not sure what is going on here.

      • In case anyone is wondering, it seems to be a postcode issue. If I put in my normal ACT address but with a Sydney postcode, it lets me proceed.

        Very strange.

        • I think they are very selective as to where they deliver to. In their shipping details for example it says they deliver to VIC Metro but not VIC Regional.

        • +1

@rexstar: I was trying to do click and collect, the whole point of the promotion!

  • I asked if TGG will re-list their items on the eBay store, this was their response:

    "Good Morning,

Our product range, product availability, product pricing, delivery and pick up in store options & pricing and promotional offers may differ from The Good Guys website and The Good Guys stores.

These products are not currently available for purchase from our eBay store. We apologise for any inconvenience

    Kind Regards,
    Stella."

    ???

    • +2

      Stellaaaaaa!

    • I got the Stella robot too. Exact same generic message. I was enquiring about stock levels.

  • I messaged them on facey, was told because of stock too, just replied back with a screenshot of the item I was after with stock available at all stores….

    Interested in the response..

    • Comment here once you hear back from them. They are behaving pretty strangely! It is going to hit their sales big time, and if they didn't want to put stuff on their eBay store (because "these eBay sales hit them") then don't put your hand up for this eBay offer in the first place.

      • Screw you TGG. First you put the fridge I was looking at up $200, then you double the delivery cost, then you take it off eBay entirely.

      • They saw the comment on facebook at 3.23pm yesterday, no reply…….

  • I bought two items from Bing Lee eBay in the same order and they applied shipping charges ($40) separately for both items, so $80 in total. Is it normal?

    • Yes, it's normal. They don't have combined shipping fees on ebay stores.

      • Damn! $40 per item is too much if one ends up buying say 3 or 4 items. I was in fact thinking of buying 3.. isn't there any way around it?

        • You can try select click and collect and then call them to combine shipping. I have never shopped at Bing Lee (because I am based in Melbourne) so I don't know if that will work.

  • Extremely disappointed with TGG. Why even take stock off ebay?

  • I've complained to both them and eBay. It is promoted and gives a bad customer experience.

I was going to buy a cooktop, air conditioner and tv

    • +2

Things I've learnt from the ebay sale:
      1. Buy it asap, just in case eBay decides to stop the promotion earlier than advertised.
      2. Buy it asap, just in case the seller decides to pull it and/or raise prices

  • I don't understand why TGG would restrict their sales. They would have made hundreds more sales over the weekend if they didn't suddenly pull so many listings Saturday morning.

  • Had a decent run in this sale…managed to get the Canon 80D with 18-55STM for a decent price, and an S6 Edge 128GB in Emerald Green, and will get TRS on both of them.

That said, TGG have been showing poor form over the last several sales now…the Moto G was price hiked from 294 to 319, and several articles pulled from sale…

  • +3

Oh look - Products are returning to The Good Guys eBay store. Who would have guessed?

  • +1

I have received a response from both TGG and eBay

TGG gave the generic response whereas the bay mentioned they would do an investigation. Not that I fully believe this will give an outcome I would encourage others to do the same as I think if there is a pattern of behaviour it will be called out to them

If makes them look bad after they have sent numerous comms about the sale and yet there are no products when you go to buy

  • "Hi [MY NAME], sorry for any confusion, unfortunately the stock in our eBay store is separate to that on our website. The 20% offer through eBay was very popular which caused the available stock to be depleted. We apologise for any inconvenience. Thanks again.

    • Rang up the specific store, and they don't keep separate stock at all there. Complete corporate garbage.

    • So the Good Guys sold out of every single item on their ebay store that was > $40 did they, all within an hour or so?

Way to go Good Guys. Treat your paying customers like idiots. Lets see how that works out for you.

I'm just about to move house and start renovations, which will include a full kitchen and laundry fit-out. Guess where I won't be buying my appliances?

"The Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within your kitchen?"

        "Yes."

        "May I see it?"

        "No."

        • You are an odd fellow, but I must say, you steam a good ham.
