Don't know why people downvoted you. I just tried and can't find a single UberX anywhere, even when dropping the pin right in the CBD.
Finally got an uber. It's not a scam
had a few myself so far, henley to north Adelaide, 4pm, twice, north adl to henley, 10pm-ish twice and a few bottle runs from my place in henley to henley hotel and back haha. Going to try for one in the city tomorrow night. Spose it depends on the area. One driver I keep getting only joined up the day they started with the free rides, so maybe give it time for more to join up.
@lette: yeah I managed to get a couple more after the first one
though me and the missus didn't get too adventurous and go too far out from where we were staying in case we couldnt get anouther uber
Used it shortly after midday yesterday for a 25 min trip. No wait time.
I'll try again
Have Uber improved their pricing transparency for promotions since last year. I only ever used the free rides and it was so nerve-wracking not having confirmation of the promo conditions or pricing live on screen. It would suck to find out you travelled from Adelaide to Cairns only to find out you have to fork out $9000.
ok never used uber so how do i do this ? do i need a android app?
How far can you hitch a ride?
I'm thinking Adelaide to Perth.
Is that allowed?
I think you'll find they service the area on the web page at https://www.uber.com/cities/adelaide/. So its unlikely someone would drive you Adelaide to Perth.
Used this 3 times already this weekend :) awesome stuff
So right now there's 3 UberXs servicing the whole of Adelaide and about a dozen Uber Blacks. This is going to get interesting.
Yeah, there isn't a lot of availability. I tried to catch one the other day but no cars in sight.
Has anyone noticed under the Promotions tab "$100 OFF, Adelaide your uberX has arrived!Ride for free during the launch period." Expires 23 May.
Does that mean this promotion is definitely until 23 May and cumulative $100 free rides until then?
A driver indicated that free rides are gonna stay till the month ending..Happy days
I was in Adelaide over the weekend..
Could not find one available UberX over a friday, saturday, sunday and mondayWhat time of day were you trying? I found outside of peak hour (e.g. 10am to 3pm) is ok, but first thing in the morning, and evenings is pretty well non-existent.
Yes its a great deal for customers…agree
Uber can even do it for free for few years I guess…look at the facts below
….they havent paid much tax at all. uber is valued 63 billion and paid 400k tax in Australia in the last 3 years ie 133k/ year… They make 20 to 25% from the trips. Fat Profit = Beggar Tax

Taxi industry is bit too dump that's why they couldn't fight.
I took a taxi from the airport the other day because my employer won't reimburse uber fares. Driver was polite and courteous but ah the smell of vomit as I sat there holding my seat belt because the latch was broken.
I sat there holding my seat belt because the latch was broken.
You should have asked to go to Regency so the guys could defect the car :)
Free rides have ended.

Have to neg this. Deal is fake. I've been in Adelaide two days and there has not been one UberX in sight.
Plenty of uber black going around the CBD but zero UberX
I smell a rat
