AGL Customers Switch to eBilling to Get $5 off Your Bill [NSW, VIC, QLD & SA]

460

Swap to eBilling before 30 July and receive a $5 credit to your bill

(You'll also go into the draw to win 1 of 100 free energy bills up to the value of $2,000 )

I'm assuming the eligibility for the $5 credit is the same as for the competition:

Entry is open to all NSW, QLD, SA, and VIC residential or small business customers (which is defined for this competition as customers that use less than 40MWh of electricity or 1000GJ of gas per year (pro rata based on the relevant bill)) with an active AGL Energy Plan for gas or electricity who are 18 years of age or over. However, the following are not eligible:
- a. employees and contractors of AGL Energy Limited and their immediate families, Salmat Digital, and their associated agencies and companies;
- b. customers on multi-site arrangements;
- c. large market customers; or
- d. customers not on AGL’s published Market Contract General Terms or Standard Retail Contract.

$5! Damn! They're gonna go bankrupt crediting all the people about to switch over….

  • -1

    won't get me to switch..

    • +3

      not if you're a stamp collector…

    • +3

Why are paper bills important to you?? 5 bucks is more than most businesses give you for switching to electronic statements.

      • all you hope is they send the ebill….

        • Well, given they send the bill every quarter within a week of the same date, it would be amiss if we didn't figure it wasn't here….

  • +3

    That's about a 0.03% discount on your annual electricity bill… WOW !!!

    • +6

That's $5 more than you had before :)

      • +16

Pretty sure you can save more by switching away from AGL…

        • -1

          Watch it…

        • +1

Actually, that is how I read it at first glance.

        • I saved by swapping from origin to AGL a couple of years ago

    • +1

Your annual electricity bill is nearly $17,000?

      • -1

If you include the factory, then yes…

        • So your factory makes knock-offs of the designer brand LV?

That explains the JV then :)

    • 0.3% makes more sense.

  • +6

Or switch to a much cheaper provider & save heaps more !

Thanks OP, not sure many peeps here are AGL Customers 🙂

You save $5, they save $10 per year forever by not printing and posting out bills. Win Win situation :)

  • AGL currently offers $100 online signup credit on first bill ($200 if signing up for both elec and gas). Taking a leaf out of Ozbargainers' starter kits/private health insurance strategies, has anyone thought of porting out and back in (for existing AGL customers assuming they are still happy) or porting in and then out (for other customers)? Do you think it's worthwhile?

    • Hey, Where do you find the $100 online signup credit? The best I can find if signing up for gas only is $25.

      • $100 for VIC only. Different amounts for other states. SA or QLD gets $25. $75 in NSW. According to their website.

  • If you're in SA the correct action is switching providers, not switching to electronic billing to save 5 bucks.

    • +1

Who do you recommend in SA for gas only?

      • +2

also want to know, who to switch to

          1. Make a list of gas and electricity retailers.

          2. Check on their websites to see if they can offer energy to your address.

If no, repeat with another energy retailer.

If yes, go to step 3.

          1. Find the retailer's market rates. This is a PDF document that outlines all the offered plans from that retailer, including steps, per kWh/MJ prices, daily service charges, etc.

          2. Compare this retailer's rates to your present rates.

If your present rates are cheaper than the retailer's rates, remain with your present retailer and repeat from step 2. Continue until you find the cheapest rates.

If your present rates are more than the retailer's rates, keep this retailer in mind and repeat from step 2 with another retailer. Confine until you find the cheapest rates.

        • @KaptnKaos:
          Teach a man to fish…

I did my research a year ago and went with Dodo for electricity and AGL for gas. Both have increased their prices in the meantime, so if anyone has done the research recently, please share your recommendation.

        • @KaptnKaos:

          Thanks to the neggers.

        • @skatoz:

          The neggers can't fish…

  • AGL have the worst rates so this is no deal at all. Switching to a cheaper retailer would be a better deal.

    • Any suggestion?

    • That statement surely cries for clarification!

Again the glorious eBill. Pay first, ask questions later.

    • +1

ebill and automatic payment of it are different beasts. You can have one without the other.

At least in my area, AGL have consistently been one of the most expensive retailers around, for both electricity and gas. Don't be fooled by their xx% off, cashback, pay-on-time, eBilling and time-of-day gimmicks.

Further, the carelessness and contempt that AGL shows for existing customers is quite alarming, and the only time they really give you the respect you deserve is when you lodge a request with another energy retailer to transfer your business away from AGL.

    Not going there again, sorry.

    • My experience precisely.

      F those guys.

    • mate just about every area! they stink.

  • +1

For Victorian Elec and Gas customers to compare retailers I recommend using http://switchon.vic.gov.au/
I think there is an equivalent website for other States.

  • 5% off would be of better value.

    • Not when their per-unit rates and daily charges are 20% higher than their competitors.

  • Not sure if I'll get my $5 credit, but the webform seemed to accept my ActewAGL account number (once I removed the space). Plus, I was already receiving e-statements, anyway…

  • AGL have been on a mission to crush me.

moved into a new place a year ago, and signed up with Simply Energy…. or so I thought.

Started receiving bills from AGL. Rang 'em up and apparently the transfer was denied. I re-applied with Simply Energy. Paid the bill owing + the final bill for AGL.

And now 6 months later they send me another bill for the total of the 2 bills paid last year.

Their online chat has not been helpful at all. I've emailed them with proof of payment. Hopefully they'll realise their mistake.

Such a pain in the ass, so much time wasted on the phone and PC disputing their BS.

    • I have similar experience, their customer service staffs are dodgy, never resolve problem.
      AVOID AGL!

  • Tip of advice when it comes to AGL, if they are the only provider capable of meeting your needs than stay with them. But avoid them at all costs as they love to add random costs to your bills.

  • Definitely worth comparing rates on switchon.vic.gov.au.

I am with AGL in Vic and I actually found that AGL's cheapest plans were competitive on pricing - but I wasn't on their cheapest plans! They were second cheapest for gas next to Dodo, who I won't use after using their dud internet service. AGL were less competitive for electricity, but they offer a $100 credit when you sign up to a new plan online, so counting that made them second cheapest on electricity too.

I was able to login to my account and switch plans online in a couple of minutes. Ridiculous that they have cheaper plans just sitting there and leave you on a higher plan until you realise it, but I'm sure all providers do this.

  • +1

AGL is one of the dirty power businesses, they will never get my business even if they offer electricity for free.

  • Neg for me! I'm already on paperless. Where's the loyalty AGL?!

    /sarcasm

  • The phone number on the link "Alternatively call 1300 001 128 to swap today." is not connected - what's the deal?
