Similar to a deal ages ago. Saw the banner while driving past and couldn't take a photo. Could be nationwide.

Edit: Seen on other WA stores. Changed time.

I dont know if you want to edit the original post, but in Spearwood, WA the maccas has the sign for 1 dollar cheeseburgers, from 12pm to 2pm, went by yesterday.

  • Anyone know if there is a limit? Thinking of doing an office run today.

    • +1

The tv advertisement says a maximum of 4 cheeseburgers per order.

      • Thanks.. though per order seems a bit silly..
So I can order 4. Hand them a fiver. Get a dollar change.
Then order another 4. Repeat the process.
After 4 orders I can order another 4. This time hand them the 4 - $1 coins.
Then walk out with 20 cheeseburgers and wasting my and the counter persons time..

        • -1

wasting my and the counter persons time..

that is exactly why they do it, if your pedantic enough to waste your own time to do that you are going to be the sort of person who will find some other way to bitch about it anyway so its just easier to let people like that "get away with it" rather than put up with the time wasted in their incessant bitching and carry on your day.

        • @nosdan:

Any proof of your stupid claims? You should think about things before you post..

        • @Roary: years of putting up with that type of person while working in and around retail. it also happens when your dealing with pedantic people in general, even face to face and not just when they are pain in the arse clients like ive experienced in the past. its just not worth your time sometimes to waste it on such clients ive found.

        • @nosdan:
TSo a person wanting to do an office run and order 20 cheeseburgers is a pain in the ass and a waste of time as opposed to 5 people all from the office coming in and ordering 4 burgers each. I dont think McDonalds managers would quite agree with you. I do think they would process 1 order for 20 burgers a lot quicker than 5 people ordering 4 each..

        • @Roary: yes because deals like this lose the company money, they are whats called a loss leader. it is not only well known in the retail sector but id imagine even most OzBargainers would also know this by now. they do it to get people in in the hopes they buy something else. they want say a family with 4 kids to come in and buy 4 $1 burgers for the kids, an overpriced soft drink each and a full price burger combo for the adults. this is how loss leaders work and also why they put a limit on the number of money losing items they want you to buy.

A loss leader (also leader)[1] is a pricing strategy where a product is sold at a price below its market cost[2] to stimulate other sales of more profitable goods or services.

the more you think you know.. the more you realise you dont… :D

        • @nosdan:

It costs less than $1 to make a cheeseburger.. (Overheads included)
Sure thats a strategy but thats not we are discussing here.. So lets get back on track

Thinking customers are a pain in the ass and time wasters is exceptionally poor customer service and you will find yourself out of a job or bust in no time…

        • @Roary: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA, goes to show how much you know about retail huh. i find it hilarious when you get one of "those" pedantic arseholes in a checkout line before you and after they have got out of ear shot you tell the checkout person "i used to work in retail as well, dont you hate people like that" and they go off on a rant about how much of an arsehole customers like that are because people who work in retail all know what its like dealing with THOSE sorts of people. just because they smile in your face does not mean they dont talk shit about you as soon as your not around

  • I went to 2 of my local McDonalds and see the deal is now expired, one of the local McDonalds even took down the giant poster/banner advertising the $1 cheeseburger in front of their store :-(

At least the Hungry Jack's $4.95 2x Whopper Jr and 2x Small Fries deal is still available..

    • Yeah the sign was removed from the cannington store but I didn't bother trying to go in and ask. I just assumed it had finished. It was a shame, only got to use it a couple of times :(
