Hi,
I'm looking at hiring a car for a day or two from Rentabomb in Melbourne.
I've used Flexicar in the past but am looking at Rentabomb since it's cheaper.
Are they any good - anything I need to be wary about?
Cheers.

have you used them for both renting and lending your car? this looks like a really interesting service and one i'll take seriously when im living in Melbourne (in the next few weeks!)
Thanks for that, they are indeed significantly cheaper. They only do hires from the Airport though… I'm Melbourne based so the Skybus return ticket will offset any savings unfortunately.
I'm reasonably sure you can get to the airport via public transport now

They're actually at Gladstone Park. Not sure if that's any easier/cheaper than the airport though.
Does the name instill any confidence?
For the cheapest prices at rent-a-bomb, you'll likely be getting a basic model 20 year old Corolla or similar with about 400,000km on it.
I've rented from Rentabomb before and they are perfectly fine. Yes the car was an old Corolla (for each of the few times I rented) but there was nothing wrong with it at all - it did have a number of K's on the clock but nowhere near 400,000. It was clean and everything worked exactly as it should. They were fine with me extending the rental contract too when I decided that I needed it for longer than I had initially planned.
I would have no hesitations in recommending them to you - for just a one off, short term rental or for a longer period replacement eg if you are looking for a new car and therefore currently carless.
Thanks for that. I'm looking at renting a Premium vehicle (I have to according to RentaBomb since I'm driving it beyond Melbourne metropolitan). I think the Corollas are classified as Saver vehicles. Hopefully, the Premium vehicles will be newer…
i looked at rentabomb before but i went online and some really bad experiences people had with them, being stuck in the middle of nowhere with a broken down car and getting no support and being told its their problem and their responsibility to get the car back, considering the condition of the cars this just turned me off completely so I didn't try them. I rented off someone of gumtree and it was a good experience.
Before you book I think you should also check out http://carhood.com.au/ as they might be cheaper with rates from $14/day.
They are really good in my experience.
