Bear in mind that there is a reason why these ones are fairly cheap. They require the bowl to be prep in the freezer prior to being used.
^Long term this can be an absolute pain - takes up a lot of freezer room and these aren't as effective as an actual compressor
That is a requirement of most of them
I believe moo is referring to all non-compressor types. It is not a requirement for compressor models.
@caprimulgus: corrector mundo!
Perfect for winter. Thanks.
pun intended?
Not at all
Good find
Bought one just before Christmas the last time Myer had them at this price. There's a bit of work involved but you can make some REALLY good ice cream if you try.
I've got it on in the background and I'm making this right now:
http://icecreamscience.com/roasted-banana-ice-cream-recipe/Omg, I have made icecream with success in my thermomix, but didn't realize it was so complicated to perfect this process. I am inspired, but think if I am going to go to this much effort with icecream I would buy one with a compressor
We've had one of these for a few years. you just have to remember to have the bowl in the freezer for long enough, and not make your batch too large. Can great VERY good results. I f you're happy to spend a lot more the compressor ones are the way to go, but these are the pick of the cheaper ones. Some others friends have find their motor is too small and gets too hot, or the bowl doesn't stay cold enough. Plus this is the best price I've seen , as under $80 is usually a good deal.
I bought one of these, great machine but you'd be far better off getting this, 2Lr instead. https://www.target.com.au/p/bellini-bticm25-r-2-litre-ice-cr…
$17.50?? anyone used this particular model??
I've seen it instore, the are identical really. It's just a frozen bowl that gets mixed by turning. No high tech stuff here.
Actually, no. The motors aren't usually strong enough. Icecream churning is hard work!
Price is different on the website - is it in-store offer?
Thanks OP - something I don't need but want.
