These 'free to play weekends' are not deals/bargains.

And what puzzles me the most is that user "cobalt" only negged this post and reported it while the Rocket League free weekend post he or she stayed clear of. Why? At least be consistent even if you are wrong.
Have I done anything to this user? Not that I know of. Very strange and puzzling this.

You think I see every deal? I just saw no discount on yours and I would think reasonable people wouldn't consider free to play for 1 weekend only a freebie, so it's not a deal.

The others have deals on the game also, Rocket League has 40% off ergo it is actually a deal.

Why did you think I made this personal against you? This is a simple case of no deal and no freebie in a listing. If the mods actually followed the guidelines that you linked to they would have removed this post.

There is no deal listed here, nor an actual freebie, and it should be removed.

Wrong. It's a free play weekend and it is 66% off. If you clicked OP's link you would know.

Posting guidelines state the deal (in this case 66% off) should not only be in the post, but the title of the post itself.

At the time of me typing this, hours after the listing, there is still no amendment to the title or post stating any deal.

O.P. just listed this as a freebie, which free to play weekends are not considered part of.

Here is an example of an actual freebie on Steam.

          @c0balt:

Look at all the DEALS on Ozbargain regarding free game time on Origin etc.
Are you telling me that all of these other people got it wrong over a substantial amount of time and only you did not?

Also, look at the voting guidelines.

Does it say you can neg if something is free temporarily?

You do not have to upvote it but you certainly CANNOT neg it.

And thanks for your education on what a freebie is - I think I posted a few myself.

Did you even look at IceCreamBandit's examples?

        • @c0balt:

The point is your neg was never necessary, or appropriate under the guidelines. If there is incorrect/missing information, report it as such.

        • @IceCreamBandit:

The neg, maybe, but the report for the post was correct as this deal in it's current form does not meet the deal posting guidelines.

OP still hasn't corrected the title or post.

Someone else should report this so that the correct information gets through, as in it's current for there is no deal or freebie listed here.

Yes, OP I did look at those links and I posted back to you above saying why those links were valid (they actually contained the information on what the discount was). Those listings were not flagged as freebies, you did flag yours as a freebie and it's not a free product.

Have another look, not a single one of the previously linked 'free weekend' deals was flagged as a freebie, but you flagged this as one (incorrectly).

It's not up to people to click on your link to find out how much it costs, what the discount is and more. It's up to you to put that information in the title and post, and not incorrectly flag this as a freebie.

      • If the mods actually followed the guidelines that you linked to they would have removed this post.

If something is not usually free, but is free for a limited time, it is fine to be posted as a deal. This is stated in the deal posting guidelines.

The freebie tag is for anything that is free with no strings attached - which seems to be the case here for the weekend access. The 66% off is if you want to buy the game - which is not a requirement to get the free weekend access.

If you have an issue with the validity of a deal, reporting is the way to go. If you think moderators have made a mistake (which we sometimes do), you can use TWAM.

Let's stick to discussing the deal and move on.

  • thanks Op, looking forward to trying it out
