+1 vote from me for using the old 1992 "grouse" … wow :D

    • +1

It would be even more grouse if the bargain was at Hardware House.

  • That's rad dude.

    BCF is so grody.

    • Yeah man, you go in there and you get dacked!

  • +3

    Promotional price is ending today.

  • -2

Thanks OP, just got one. I asked what the normal price was, and he said $50.

    • $50 must be for a new bottle. Not a swap

      • Suppose so… But it's what the staff told me.

  • +2

Exchange only is normally low $20s, but whole new tank is around $50. (I keep two cylinders, one in use and one backup in case gas runs out half way through BBQ,)

    • +2

It's OK to be a Doomsday Prepper these days.

      • The Zombie Apocalypse is only a matter of time.

    • I had a friend give me a spare bottle. Didn't give it much thought. Later, after two BBQs that would have gone half-cooked, I think that he's a good friend.

  • +1 for the dankness of 'grouse'

  • +4

aren't normal prices around $24 for the refill?

  • +3

The title has confused me a bit. Is it a swap price or a new full bottle?
If it's just a swap that's the normal/low Bunnings price.A swap has never been $49.85!

  • Can you swap any bottle or has to be bunnings

    • +1

i swapped one that i got at coles express a few weeks ago, they dont seem to care

      • Thanks mate will keep that in mind

  • -4

Not a deal, swapping an empty for a full is always around that price

  • +2

This is not $30 off, normal price is about $22-24.

    Gas refills are $19.95 @ BBQ Galore - https://www.barbequesgalore.com.au/9kg-gas-refill

    • +1

That was my bad. Wrong title edit based on the wrong information by Bunnings staff.
I took his word for gospel as I had never had one refilled, have only had to buy full ones so far.

    • +6

      Are you blind?

      Bunnings is $19.85

      $19.85 is less than $22.90.

      • -8

        Saving $3 off a $20 purchase is not a bargain ! …. it's a pretty ordinary discount at best.

        • +2

If petrol was 14% cheaper than the lowest price is that a bargain, is 14% off Apple a bargain?

        • +2

          @berger:

If i was going to buy 50-100ea 8.5kg gas bottle refills it might have merit. Am i going to march down to a Bunnings to make an AMAZING total saving of $3 on a gas refill… hello no !

15% off a $900 purchase is worth something.

15% off a $20 purchase is not worth time chasing.

        • -2

@berger: Typical OzBargainer, would drive across the city to save $3 on a refill, using $10 fuel (plus the time) in the process.

        • @Mic Cullen: Typical flog.

I am far from a typical Ozbargainer. in fact, i just get a refill from my local grocer who is a couple dollars dearer.

i don't drive across the city to save a cent here or there, my life carries on as normal with a deal like this.

I do love a bargain, but its got to be worth my time. Spent $1700 at Dick Smith Saturday on some genuine bargains i have eyed off for 4 weeks, I was also at Masters Saturday looking for the $49 Triton tool kit.

As for the fuel comment.. company car and a work credit card.. but that's besides the point. You don't know me.

@berger: OK, I'll make it simpler. Well, I'll try. Using a percentage to determine the value of a discount without taking into account the cost of the product is utterly ridiculous. Thus, the comparison with high cost goods like Apple is utterly irrelevant in this case. HTH.

        • @xdreamyst:

          I shopped at Fountain Gate..

They absorbed all the Move store stock, so got some nice B&O audio products reduced heavily. Wasn't really after much else.. Oh an IPhone 6 case for $2 too.

I've been pleasant with the staff, no point being rude, if they had nothing on shelf I just accept it. Wished them luck for the future, it's a situation I'll never have to deal with fortunately, and don't wish it apon anyone.

I did however stock up on the pre xmas sale, got a mixture or barriers dirt cheap and an Acer tablet for $40 down from $600

  • Cylinder swap is still $56.75 - http://www.bunnings.com.au/swap-n-go-8-5kg-gas-and-cylinder-…

As others have said - title incorrect

  • It's been below $20 in Modbury SA when I swapped bottles over the last 3 months

  • Save $3.13 BFD.

  • I always refill for $18 at my local masters. I ask for a discount and they give it to me.

Got 2 more bottles to refill that I picked up off the side of the road the other day :)

  • One other plus for a bunnings swap is they also take out of date bottles, unsure if other do. But I know my local servo that does swapngo will not accept out of date bottles as "swaps".

The normal price of a swap and go of an 8.5kg cylinder is $22.98. A 'new' 8.5kg swap and go is $56 something.

  • +3

Checked my records. I paid $19.85 for a 8.5kg swap n go at Bunnings on 6/1/16.

Based on this, I'd say this is normal price.

    • Not according to the Bunnings website bud http://www.bunnings.com.au/gas-swap-8-5kg-gas-exchange_p3180…

Last time I filled up it was low $20's… not under $20.

I know its only a few bucks, but for those that use the Bunnings swap system on a regular basis, this is technically a good deal…. I've got two bottles I'll be changing over today because of it, so there's $5-6 extra in my pocket.

      Cheers OP!

      • That website is wrong - I'm telling you that.
