  • 2x 980g or 4x 480g?

  • I think you've copy pasted the wrong title, description is for 4x480g, title has 2x980g.

    • Thanks for letting me know :-) have amended now. Correct description is 4 x 480g

  • Do you sell green beans as well, or just roasted?

    • If you shoot me an email of what you're after then I'll try to help out :-)

  • This is ozbargain, so… this just seems like your normal price. I can recall when these deals showed up for $40.
I know its good value, I buy regularly, but if you really loved us you'd throw us a real bargain every now and then ;)

I can't understand how these "deals" aren't sent to the forums; it's the same price every time.

      Where is jv, anyway?

    • Hey Choofa, I'll bear that in mind! Unfortunately $40 for 2kgs delivered is not viable at todays coffee and freight prices and we run all specialty coffees and not the cheap commercial blenders.

That being said I'll look at posting a real beauty of a deal for you guys soon.

I reckon this is a great price, about $20 cheaper than the regular price. And it's not like the regular price is overcharging…it's about what you pay anywhere. So big thanks from me for your regular good ozbargain offers!

      • Thanks FunkyDan, enjoy your long weekend :-)

  • Trying to decide between this deal and the other one ending in a few days

    1 x 480g Southern Mountains
    1 x 480g Jamocha
    1 x 480g Nicaragua Bastilla Naturals
    1 x 480g Lucky dip

lately I've been enjoying Lavazza Perfetto beans in my automatic coffee machine.

Before the machine I used to regularly buy the grinders ground coffee for my french press.

Which deal would you recommend for me. I'm a milk coffee drinker - generally just a flat white though sometimes will foam the milk a touch.

I think that the blends would be a good place to start and these are suited to milk based application. Happy to do 1kg Jamocha and 1kg Southern Mountain for you under this deal. You can leave notes in Paypal :-)

      • Can I get this version of the offer as well as I am a milk drinker as well. I have placed the order already and made notes. If not still good.
        Thanks

          No problem ;-) thanks

  • My last purchase failed the ziplock test.

  • Just ordered! thanks as usual!

Please let me know if they all taste like cinnamon powdered coffee without milk.

      • +1

Not quite sure what you mean with this comment or you previous one about ziplock test?

        • I am trying to say your coffee bean all taste like cinnamon. I am very surprised/concerned that you never heard of ziplock test as a "premium" coffee bean seller.

          Here is the info: http://www.bloomroasters.com/blog/2016/1/15/how-to-know-when…

@ruriruri: 'All taste of cinnamon' that's an interesting evaluation. I haven't heard or come across that phenomenon before or have any idea what would have caused you to have that taste sensory experience. Have you been using flavoured beans or other products in your grinder beforehand?

Ziplock test is jargon that the company of the link you provided made up and hasn't been of relevance to me. I understand the basic information provided in the link you attached but as a roaster there is a lot more involved when q grading, roasting and cupping coffees. We test for moisture content in green bean, density and use refractometers to test sugar contents to develop roast profiles amongst other factors and are alwways trying to learn and improve.

Green bean age and active moisture is much more important to us than a ziplock test as you put it and all coffee that leaves our warehouse is fresh roasted to order and bagged in valved resealable bags.

          @ruriruri:
Wow, amazingly google only found 7 results for the search terms "ziplock test" coffee. Are google losing their edge ;-)

@rentonc: Yeah it looks like the only real links are from lifehacker and food hacks. perhaps bloom roasters got it from them. Still some useful information though, it could be an indicator of whether beans are fresh but aroma and taste will ultimately be the true test to a discerning pallet.

Coffee does give off co2 after roasting and generally speaking it needs 4-5 days to degas before drinking to knock off any sourness and allow the flavours to develop. There are many factors that come into play though including coffee region, processing method, roast degree and even the type of roaster used.

For example some Yemen coffees I've come across can degas much quicker in 1-2 days where as some of the Indonesians we've worked with I find are much better at day 7 or 8.

When coffee is in transit this can also force air out of the bags but we advise that once coffee is received that it is kept in the valved resealable bags that it comes in and is stored in a cool dark place. Generally coffee is only considered "fresh" for 3-4 weeks but if planning to keep longer some people are known to freeze their beans. :-)

@ruriruri: I disagree! I find that each of manna beans beans to have their own flavour profile. I too have never heard of the cinnamon effect?!
