2 gig of ram and a SD650 and comparible to the G4? I'd re-think that.

From everything I've read they are a great mid-range phone - which for most is plenty powerful enough these days! But this also looks like one of the lower spec'd versions vs those with 3gig of ram.

Still a great price for an good mid range phone though!

    UPDATE:

Extra $50 for 3gb ram version and 32gig storage: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/243272 - probably a better deal in my opinion.

    • In terms of performance I believe its a bit faster than the G4. Because it has a lower resolution screen while the s650 is very similar design to the s808 but actually gets the better A72 cores instead of A57. To put it into perspective a benchmark like antutu this phones scores around 75k vs 65k of the G4. The G4 has better cameras, band support and will get Android N.

The SD 650 is a newer SD 808 essentially and is actually quicker..
Best off getting the 3GB ram model however.
Keep in mind these DO NOT support band 28 so you will not get 4GX on Telstra or Optus.

    • Hi, just noticed your post on band 28. Do you know any other dual sim phones that support band 28 ?

      • Asus Zenphone 2

        • +1

possibly some of the Oppo phones

        • +1

Do note that Zenphone 2 2nd Sim slot does not support 3G/4G. Only slot 1 does.

      • Huawei have a few I think, most Chinese phones don't…
In saying that I've been fine with my Nexus 5 which doesn't support that band although i'm in Melbourne CBD so I always have 4g regardless.

      • Oppo R7s supports band 28

    • The 650 uses a slightly weaker gpu though and is made on different process to cut down on costs. So it's only slightly better than the s808.

  • does it support band 28 ???

  • Also does not support any major USA LTE bands so pretty average for international roaming. There is a possible hack to unlock those as is a Qualcomm chipset. Still trying to confirm if someone has made it work.

  • The same Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro 2GB/16GB Snapdragon 650 5.5" is even cheaper for US $165 or AU 218 at :

Then you can reduce it further with Aliexpress/Alipay vouchers or special discounts.

  • silly question (perhaps)

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 that I'm perfectly happy with. I use it a lot for data download (mainly via wi-fi) and watching TV shows on.

Any benefit (apart from slightly larger screen size) "upgrading" from the S4 to something like this phone? (or the Oppo R7plus?)

    • Far better battery life and a fingerprint reader would be the only main differences. Not an AMOLED panel though if that matters to you, so the contrast will be noticeably lower.

    • Not really. S4 is still a great phone from that generation and if you aren't seeing any issues using it, there is no real benefit of "upgrading".

  • Whats the recommended method of payment for aliexpress?
or do u just pay CC and try to utilise their buyer protection?

  • Heh. Ships within 60 days

  • Anyone have experience with the camera?

I am after a camera with better performance than most chinadroids I have used (I have been happy with the zeaplus that I currently have, but think I have dropped it once too many) - any recommendations
